Let us know what your favorite World of Warcraft Cinematic is and why? And let us know some back story on the characters in the video?
This one is definetly my favourite. I played the game years ago, but what actually gives me goosebumps in this cinematic are the iconic phrases "For the Horde" and "For the Alliance" which have been in around in the game for ages. Anduin (Human king, he is a paladin btw, both a priest and a warrior) and Sylvanas (Banshee queen) both actually embody the fight the factions have been literally fighting (in the game) over the past years. The elf with the red eyes is Lady Sylvanas, current warchief of the Horde, and leader of the forsaken undead, and also know as the Banshee Queen. The young human in the gold lion armor is Anduin Wrynn, current King of Stormwind and leader of the Alliance. Both the Horde and the Alliance have been at war for YEARS.
There is another evil existing in a realm called the void which has been corrupting both sides for as long as they've been fighting. Beings called Old Gods whisper into the minds of mortals driving them insane causing them to do things they otherwise wouldn't do had they been sane. I think this expansion we're going to fight the Voidlords and the Old Gods.
Sylvanas, the "elf chick" is the undead banshee queen and current Warchief of the Horde. When she screamed and rallied the Horde, that was he "true" banshee form. The wolf dude is Genn Greymane; he's a worgen (think werewolf, except not evil and in full control of himself and able to shapeshift between human and wolf form at will) advisor to King Anduin, who is a powerful priest. The two main factions are of course the Horde and the Alliance, and in this Cinematic the Alliance is laying siege to one of the main Horde capitals - the Undercity.
I think we can all agree that if the Warcraft movie was more like this, it would of been a huge success.
to be fair , it was . It made a metric butt ton of money, yes die hard fans like myself, who have been fans since Warcraft : Orcs & Humans, had problems with the liberties the writes took with the lore. So with the money it made they will probably make a 2nd one, which will cover the 2nd war so we should see some familiar faces.
Plus the story of the first game is debatably the most boring one. It can only get better from here.
If that happens and I'd like it very much, I cannot wait for the Third War
They should have just made an Arthas movie and get a good actor for Arthas and Medivh. Well, we already had Medivh here, I guess...But that movie, if done properly, would get people, because it's somewhat of a cliche that everyone knows: "Good guy becomes bad guy, because of his lack of self-control".
+beliver1980, to be fair, the writing was pretty bad, not because it wasn't exactly like the books, but because it was just bad. They made a "video game" movie and not a real movie, with drama and character progression. The humans were so one-dimensional and at times, it was like I was watching a made for tv movie.

If I wanted to spread biography about her,I would do it.But whole point on my comment is: they do not know about characters and game too much and I just said that they are not wrong calling her a ELF. So neither I'm wrong calling her rotten elf,because she's a banshee living in her old body like you said.
So what is she? A banshee or an elf? Its like calling a dead person alive. You literally referred to her as two different things altogether when it clearly states that she is a BANSHEE, no longer an elf
The Elf is Sylvanas the Banshee Queen. She was a high elf who got killed and raised as a banshee by the Arthas who became the lich king. She later regained her freedom and became the queen of other undeads who regained their freedom.
The Kid/young man is Anduin the Prince/King of Stormwind, who took over after his father died in the Legion expansion.
Both Sylvanas and Anduins father are in the Legion trailer.
Yeah, She no longer an Elf (Elf girl. LOL) , the same way an undead human stopped being a human.
Sylvanans's father died during the Second War long before Legion. Anduin's father King Varian Wrynn is in the Legion trailer. Also Sylvanas is now a Banshee inhabiting her original body, which is now just a dead corps.
I love how Jane says Anduin's spell is "sick" and JV says "its so beautiful", i would expect them to say it the other way around! hehe :D
Sylvanas is epic as always, her rallying battle cry, her leap into full banshee mode totally awesome, love the new looks, the worgen leader greymane, anduin has finally come into his own, I love his armor and I want his warhorse, what a magnificent creature, the blue guys are alliance, the red guys are horde.

Sylvanas Windrunner ("the elf") used to be an Elf once upon a time, but she is now what you call an Undead. She is the leader of the Undead race and she also became the new Warchief of The Horde in the last expansion. Check out "Legion - Sylvanas and Vol'jin Cinematic " if you wanna know how she became Warchief.
That awesome battle scene where she takes down the alliance war machine, Sylvanas was in full blown banshee queen mode, she is now the warchief of the horde, the leader of the alliance attackers is the young Anduin, who even though unprepared, was forced to assume the throne after the death of his father Varian in the fight of the previous Legion expansion. I participated in this battle on both alliance and horde, and enjoyed both immensely.

The elf lady is Lady Sylvanas, or known as "The Banshee Queen". She's the current Leader of the Horde and the Queen of the race of Forsaken (a faction of undead that have allied with the Horde). She is so named the "Banshee Queen" for previously being tortured and having her soul ruined by Arthas and turned into a banshee; she would later regain her power and return to her corpse and become "The Dark Lady". Later she would succeed the previous Horde Leader. She uses her Banshee powers to drain the life from her enemies and rally her troops.
The male King is King Anduin Wrynn of the Alliance, the son of the previous King, Varian. If you remember the Legion cinematic, his father is the main guy with brown hair and armor that's fighting; the little blonde kid in the picture on the compass is Anduin. Anduin's father was killed by felguards towards the end of the expansion or so as he attempted to take down Gul'dan but failed. The Horde were labeled as traitors as instead of assisting the Alliance they retreated, leaving Varian and the Alliance alone (unbeknownst to the Alliance the Horde were forced to retreat by opposing forces and did not intentionally mean to abandon the Alliance) Anduin is the successor of his father and believes heavily in diplomacy and peace; in game he has been listed as a powerful Priest with strong ties to the Light. He uses that Light to mass heal (or potentially resurrect) his fallen soldiers and continue the fight.
Since Anduin is a Priest and I'm a Holy Priest my headcanon is that he used Divine Hymn to heal his raid team. :)

The Night Elves were in the trailer....they're the ones that shot Saurfang with arrows. Also Varian was killed by Guldan not Felguards & he was killed at the end of the trailer not at the end of the expansion.
The boy king in this cinematic is the same boy that appears in the picture found in the compass from the Legion cinematic ... Anduin. Son of Varian Wrynn and leader of the alliance. The main women is Sylvanas, she is a banshee and Warchief to the Horde. You may also remember her from the Legion cinematic. At the time, she was working with Anduin's father in a joint effort fight off the Legion invasion. With the legion destroyed, the two factions are back at war with each other.
"Elf Lady" is Sylvanas Windrunner, current Warchief of the Horde. She used to be a High Elf, and was in charge of the defenses of the Elven Kingdom, Quel'Thalas. During the Third War, the undead Scourge, led by Arthas Menethil (who would later become the Lich King) marched on Quel'Thalas, intent on using the Elves' source of magic, the Sunwell, to resurrect a powerful necromancer called Kel'Thuzad.
During this invasion, Sylvanas co-ordinated the defenses, but was eventually killed by Arthas, and her soul ripped out of her body, and twisted into a Banshee.
During the events of the Frozen Throne, shortly after the Third War, the Lich King began losing power and influence over some of the undead Scourge, including Sylvanas. After being freed from the Lich King's control, she found her body, and other undead who were also freed from the Lich King during this time, and became known as the Forsaken. She led the Forsaken to the ruins of the human kingdom of Lordaeron, which became their home, and became known as the Banshee Queen.
What she's doing in this cinematic is transforming into her banshee form.
These cinematics are very expensive to create, that's why we haven't seen a movie with this animation yet. Creating a two hour movie with this animation would possibly be in the 400-500 million dollars price range which is way too expensive to produce.
Also it takes 3months or so to do 5 mins of this quality of animated cinematic
Yes that's true, the rendering process of each frame is extremely long.
This cinematic took two years to create (such was stated by the man in charge of the announcement at Blizzcon this year) so- yeah.. if they were to make a full MOVIE in this quality, it'd take.. well, do the maths.
Yeah so we might get a movie like this after 55.8 years give or take.

the elf girls is sylvanas, current leader of the horde. she's a banshee which is what undead elves turn into. the weird ghostly form she went into there is her actual banshee form (since a banshee typically is way more ghostly, sylvanas was just bound to her body again after death)
the king of the alliance is anduin. if you remember the legion cinematic, that was his dad talking and fightinf there. during legion his father who was known as a great warrior and honored king fell in battle and anduin is now struggling to fill his shoes, that's why he uses his father's sword even though he's a priest. (that's why he looks at his sword for a moment before embracing his powers as a priest and calling down the light (basically holy power in warcraft) to heal his allies
Sylvanas turned into a Banshee, her story is explained back in Warcraft 3. She was a Blood Elf, turned into an Undead/Banshee, and then later reclaimed her body. Though I don't know if there is a story of how. But she turned into a Banshee in the cinematic, was really hoping for some Lich Queen and mind control though when she jumped down from the tower.

The sword is called Shalamayne ;). Varian Wrynn wielded it before he succumbed to the Legion and died. Even though Anduin (new King of Stormwind) wields his father's sword, he's a priest.

I think you guys did a good job. You could read the comments for hours and hours and get the lore but cliff notes:
1) The elf girl is a banshee possessing her old body. She is the leader of a faction of outcast underdogs who have done some messed up crap for the right(ish) reasons. They are called the Horde.
2) The human boy that did that bubble thing is the leader of the Alliance. Who imo are a more faith driven faction be it The Light, The Moon, etc. This is a group of natives to Azeroth that were invaded by races of the Horde or were just on the opposite side of the world from them.
There is a bad guy and a good guy in the Warcraft games, but in World of Warcraft its a bit more gray (sometimes). Imo this expansion or cinematic is about the light -literally with the king- and the dark clashing for reasons know but the spark of this conflict isn't know yet.
This is really getting back to the roots of WoW and if you were to watch the first cinematic trailer next to this one you will get similar vibes. This one has more story.
For thise reading I play both a Undead Rogue and a Worgen Priest, albeit I play both pretty badly I really do love the lore and can see both sides. I really do love both Sylvannas and Manduin and I am hyped for this expansion.

The sword used by Anduin en before him is father Anduin Wrynn is called Shalamayne, It was forged out of 2 seperate elven swords.
The leader/warchief of the horde is called Sylvanas Windrunner, better know as the banshee queen when she was the leader of the forsaken. She comes of a very famous high elf family, her sisters Alleria and Vereesa are also well know characters in the WOW universe.
The battle takes place in Lordaeron, it was once one of the biggest Human cities until prince Arthas Menethil (The Lich King) killed his father. Later it bacame the home of the orsaken who live in a city build underneath Lordaeron.
I love how you really like the videos even though you don't know much about the game. It's wonderful to see :) The first lady you follow from the horde is called Sylvanas. Long story short, she is a very tourtured soul and she was turned into a banshee queen, which is the form the takes. The alliance king on the other side is called Anduin. Anduins father recently died, so he took over the throne of Stormwind. When he summons the light, and he is sheeding a tear, I believe he is summoning the light to help his people (heal them) but in the process of summoning the light to help him, he see's his father within the light, which is why he almost cries. I think it's such a beautiful cinematic, animation, sound story and everything. Sorry I can't explain more, but trust me. It's a good read :)

Not to worry folks, takes more than a few puny arrows to kill the legendary Saurfang, the greatest and most honorable warrior the horde has even produced!
At the beginning of the video, the place you see is Lordaeron. Taken by the undead AKA The Forsaken. Sylvanas Windrunner the Banshee Queen and leader of the Forsaken, was once a high elf killed by Arthas. During the last battle for Silvermoon. Then she was turned into a banshee by Arthas.
Now she is the Warchief of The Horde. She's currently trying to protect the Undercity which lay underneath lordaeron.
Genn greymane AKA (the wolf you see) has a grudge against Sylvanas. Because she killed his son, Liam Greymane during the battle for Gilneas. Also for retreating on the broken Shore, which led to the death of Varian Wrynn also known as Lo' Gosh the "Ghost Wolf".
After the events on the broken Shore. Anduin Llane Wrynn, the son for Varian Wrynn. Became the new King for Stormwind, High King for the Alliance. The sword that he is weilding is called Shalamayne. He is a priest so that is why you can call onto the light to heal his allies.
Sylvanas (the lady elf) isn't a dark elf, she's undead. She was killed by Arthas or the Lich King and raised into undeath. Her ability she used was her Wraith form
and for the question at the part with the siege engine where sylvanas destroys it she goes banshee mode which is why she is called the banshee queen
I tend to doubt how well a genuine WoW movie would be considering how every couple expansions Blizz keeps the war going by having the leader of the horde appoint the person most likely to go to war as their successor literally with the statement "most people won't understand" as if the rest of that statement was "but blizzard needs a war expansion" and they just couldn't bring themselves to say it out loud.
The movie is lore, it's pre World of Warcraft, based on the first Warcraft RTS game Orcs vs. Humans. The king in this cinematic - Anduin - is named for his uncle Anduin Lothar, the Alliance hero in the movie Warcraft. I loved the movie, but I'm a long time player and a huge fan of the lore so there weren't any gaps in the story for me.
Anduin carries his father's sword, Shalamayne, who you would have seen in the Legion cinematic.
Sylvanas is undead - the Banshee Queen - and the most recent Warchief of the horde. A banshee scream is at the very least debilitating but usually deadly. Her story comes much later in WoW lore.
Had they decided to continue Warcraft in movies, they would have eventually led to this story.

That sword you asked about from the start of the video is called shalamayne. it was too very powerful enchanted elven blades call shalla'tor and ellemayne fused together. it was wielded by king varian wrunn and is now held by his son anduin wrynn who is now the high king of the alliance
She's an undead elf. She was killed and raised back as a zombie. She managed to regain her consiousness.
the pink lady with the epic eye brows is sylvanas, she's an undead, a banshee queen, that's her going into banshee mode.

Thank you so much for this reaction. I've seen all your Overwatch videos and I was really hoping you guys would do a reaction for this cinematic. It's sooo damn good! One small detail, a lot of people say Anduin Wrynn (the sword guy ;) ) was resurrecting his troops with that big bubble of light but you guys said he was healing them and I totally agree with that interpretation. His troops weren't dead he just rallied them and filled them with light. Anyways great video. FOR THE HORDE!!

I feel like most people would be shocked to know Sylvanis is the War Chief of the horde now.
It’s half of his fathers sword. Great story there. He’s trying to be a great warrior like his father but he’s a priest and sees his men down he mass heals/rezzes them and becomes true to himself.
The movie was actually pre-wow (world of warcraft), what you guys played was warcraft, the wow multiverse came after warcraft 3, I have played wow since the very beginning, unfortunately for me, when warcraft was available, my computer was not good enough to play it, so I lost out on valuable playtime experience, but I loved wow from the very beginning, and blizzard has never failed to amaze and impress me with their cinematics. In this most recent xpan, the horde is led by Sylvanas, the banshee queen and protector of the undeads, the alliance is led by Anduin, son of Varian, very young and inexperienced but still an honorable king, the wolf guy is the king of the gilneans and the strong right arm and chief advisor to Anduin since the death of his father in the last expansion.
She’s a Zombie elf, and she’s the leader of the Horde after the last one died.
The "elf girl" Is Sylvanas Windrunner, our current warchief. She's undead and her "true form" is that of a banshee which is what she unleashed when she screamed. She has numerour titles Like Daenerys Targaryn does. The Banshee Queen is one of them.
In the new trailer is one important ingredient, what made the trailer the best one.

After destroying the eiige machine, Sylvanas descends into full banshee mode and that blood curdling horde battle cry was absolutely thrilling, she uses her banshee powers to kill, Anduin, leader of the alliance, is a battle priest, using his power to heal and his battle cry also rallies his troops. I played this scenario on both factions, and totally enjoyed it both times.
The name of the sword is Ellemayne....its one part of legendary sword Shalamayne...
Have you guys done the original WoW trailer? I'm pretty sure you got all the expansions but haven't searched through your channel to see if that particular one is there.
She used to be a blood elf, but Arthas killed and raised her as a banshee (when she goes "reeeeeee" in the trailer is her banshee mode).

The 'legendary' sword you mentioned is called Ash-bringer. Though the king you saw in the video is not the one who wields it.
Sorry but the sword is called Shalamayne. Ashbringer belogned to Alexandros Mograine and later to Tirion Vadin. Shalamayne belongned to Varian Wrynn and now belongs to Anduin Wrynn, his son.
Gonzalo Navarro, I realise the Ash-bringer dose not belong to Anduin, but as these two don't seem the most knowledgeable about WoW lore I think they saw Shalamayne and mistook it for Ash-Bringing as the two swords bear some resemblances though not many. Also Ash-Bringer was more folklore during the early days of WoW and I believe that's were the misinformation came from.

I agree 100% Blizzard should be doing animated movies and/or tv shows. Screw the live action stuff.
The biggest difference between the movie and the cinematics is the timeframe, the movie was representing a time centuries before the current time in world of warcraft, take care guys and keep on reviewing.
the live action movie was as accurate as it probably could be, I mean it was packed with lore that really only die hard fans would get. I was so lost my first time through but then watched it again with a friend that is a super fan and now I see that movie was on full fan service mode. I'll never like it on the same level he does but as a fantasy movie I really enjoy it.

It would be amazing to have a movie like that. But Blizzard has said that it would probably be a lot more expensive than the live action movie was. This short cinematics are ok, because its 3-4 minutes, but doing a 90-110 minute movie would be stupidly expensive.

I think the hosts needs to take some time and check out the old school Warcraft classic games and read up on some lore so they would have known what Sylvanas did (banshee) and what Anduin's sword name is (Shalamayne). Seemed kind of lost while watching the video, especially not knowing that Anduin is a priest.

Lol, it amazes me at how many of these people in these reaction videos have no idea that Sylvannas is a banshee queen. You fight banshees in the plague lands, winterfell and certain instances.
She's not a dark elf, she's and Undead High Elf.
It's fun to go back and watch the old cinematics, and see how Blizzard's art style and short form storytelling have evolved over the years.

Just for anyone who cares, it's actually called Shalamayne. Neat tidbit for those who don't play the game, it can actually split in to two swords. Shalla'tor, the Shadow and Ellemayne, the Reaver.
