They bag everything that flops. When Destroyer first came out and didn’t do well they said it was a mistake and wouldn’t work with Ezrin again. Then Beth turned it around and the rest is history!
The Elder was a good album , Im 61 now so when it came out I was so yonge and did not understand it , but now I love it really have A lislten KISS army give it a chance
The KISS cruises were the only thing post reunion that were worth a true OG fan’s time. These deep cuts are such a treat! Also, this is the only time all those fans will appreciate Tommy and Eric. They know all the licks and sticks.
The Elder, for me one of the best of his entire discography and very conceptual, something not very liked by many but very spectacular in lyrics and music.
When he plays Eric Carr's stuff he really lights up! Pete was more of a 4/4 Stones type drummer whereas Eric Carr was more in the vein of what Eric Singer Falls right in the pocket and sounds at home playing.
This song would be a classic banger if you eliminated the unneeded falsetto chorus stuff. It's still a great song, but you don't need the high vocals. For me, it just distracts from the heaviness of the song and the awesome guitar riffs. It's just too high even for Paul. I suppose context is everything because this was written not long after I was Made for Loving You and Unmasked, which was really more of a pop rock album. Been said 100x, but The Elder was a good album just released at the wrong time. This is around the same time I checked out from Kiss for a bit. Going back, I really love The Oath, Darklight, and I. Really great tunes.
Raw live recording, I think so, but there is a live recording of them on TV, Friday's, that is on here somewhere. That's the best one. It's was during Paul's Barbara Streisand hair days
Thats what real KISS fans wanted to hear, among countless other obscure songs. Thats why i stopped going to their shows. 40+ yrs of seeing them and the set list was ALMOST always the same. Id prefer Shandi live over Love Gun anyday. Or Only You over anything else. Real KISS fans feed off the deep cuts...
EVEN WITH HIS VOCAL GONE TO SHIT, HE STILL DOES DAMN GOOD AND YOU CAN SEE THEY ARE REALLY JAMMING HARD ON THIS. YOU KNOW, JUST LOOKING AT PAUL, YOU JUST GOTTA BE FUCKING AMAZED AT HOW GOOD HE LOOKS FOR A 71-72 YEAR OLD GUY. DUDE IS IN BETTER SHAPE THAN 99 % OF HIS AGE GROUP. I HOPE HE DOESENT WITHER AWAY NOW THAT HE HAS QUIT TOURING. HAPPENS TO EVERYONE ONCE THEY QUIT THAT REGIMIN OF WORKING EVERY DAMN DAY. AND YEAH, ERIK IS BANGING THE HELL OUTTA THE DRUMS. HES GOTTA LOVE PLAYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT ON THESE CRUISES INSTEAD OF THE SAME OLD SHIT EVERY NIGHT. PLUS THE ELDER IS SO DAMN UNDERRATED AS AN ALBUM, NOT JUST AS A KISS ALBUM, BUT AS A PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY. ITS REALLLY GOOD IN THE SENSE IT GOES FROM HEAVY TO ARTSY FARTSY TO LOVE SONG TO ACE BEING ACE AND JAMMING OUT. ITS PROBABLY THE LAST REAL KISS ALBUM THAT THEY ACTUALLY EXPERIMENTED WITH MUSIC ON, SINCE THE FINAL SESSIONS, WHICH IS ANOTHER AWESOME PIECE OF WORK. HEAVY TOO.
This should have been the 2nd song opener after Detroit Rock City every jaw would dropped and the evening would have been made special for everyone but we got say yeah should be titled say Why ????????
Some KISS fans get overly defensive about the Elder, but that's OK it's their opinion. I really like the album but also understand why most KISS fans don't like it. It's an album they should have never done when you look at the timeline. The fans wanted them to return to their hard rock roots and instead the farted out a concept album that was haphazardly put together by a coked out Ezrin and a musically lost Gene and Paul. They're lucky it didn't completely sink the band.
Lol people saying this is a great album haha. That album is pure trash except for this absolute banger and "I" is also great from this album. The rest you can flush.
I LOVED the Elder when it came out... Gradually I've grown to realize what a terribly dismal album it was... Now I HATE it! Also can't stand Paul and Gene trying to squeeze every last penny from the songs they initially thought were flops.
T20 is giggle cricket. It's not cricket. It's money making. Test cricket is cricket. Australia not England are the most successful cricket nation in the history of cricket. Man i love The Elder. The Oaths opening riff rocks. ❤
The elder. Great álbum 😊
The elder is so underrated
Worst album but the Oath is their most underrated song
No its perfectly rated crap
Best Kiss album, it just took time to evolve. Sad Gene & Paul bag it so much.
They bag everything that flops. When Destroyer first came out and didn’t do well they said it was a mistake and wouldn’t work with Ezrin again. Then Beth turned it around and the rest is history!
You nailed it. It's even better when you listen to it with the songs in the correct order.
The issue was more likely the fact that they laid down something in the studio that they had absolutely no chance of reproducing live.
Agree
Let's not get carried away....it's certainly a great album but not their best
ERIC SINGER IS PLAYING LIKE A BEAST RIGHT HERE°°°
Played it like Carr would. I noticed it too
Eric is a beast. When I realized KISS had signed up the drummer from Badlands I was stoked as hell.
He played it like a Cat...😺🤣🤣
He had to because Eric Carr played it like a beast on the original.
@@jameshughes6049I was going to write the same thing!

Same here 👍
dude! Singer ROCKS on the drums this song! They should have played this more in concert that decade.
This is one of the heaviest songs ever!!! Love the oath.
Compared to? I’ve taken dumps heavier than this.
@@mondoseguendo6113creo que se refería a las mas pesadas de kiss, pero ni eso jaja
@@mondoseguendo6113😆😆😆i think he means as in their whole catalog lol
The Elder is second to Destroyer. I'm 62 and still listening!
Talk about underrated.
I gave my word and gained a key....
Also second to me… but for Kiss album
Love the elder since it came out. Its Soo underrated
The KISS cruises were the only thing post reunion that were worth a true OG fan’s time. These deep cuts are such a treat! Also, this is the only time all those fans will appreciate Tommy and Eric. They know all the licks and sticks.
That is what they were paid for. To fake it.
The Elder, for me one of the best of his entire discography and very conceptual, something not very liked by many but very spectacular in lyrics and music.
It is a damn good tune.
man eric playing tight
One of my top 10 favorite songs of all time!
Eric is amazing. Solid drummer for sure.
When he plays Eric Carr's stuff he really lights up! Pete was more of a 4/4 Stones type drummer whereas Eric Carr was more in the vein of what Eric Singer Falls right in the pocket and sounds at home playing.
That song along with a few others kicks ass. World without heroes is a top 10 kiss song.
The Elder definitely has a bit of cheese to it, but there is also some excellent stuff on there. Always liked it.
That was AWSOME!!!!
Elder is awesome. Listen to it over and over.
Music from the Elder est un excellent album. Disons qu’il n’est pas sorti au bon moment. Je l’aime beaucoup et the oath est une chanson remarquable.
i love the elder LP, so maligned, it is really good
I'd like to hear Peter Criss play that!!!😆
No fucking way in hell..Eric Carr was light years ahead of pete.
@@clisk35 That goes for both Eric's
WHERE WOULD HE PLAY IT 😂😂LOL AT HOME MAYBE

Just a great song from a great album!!!
This has to be the best recording of a true live show of this song. Thank you so much this, you fucking rock!! =D
Wow, glad you liked it!
I'm totally a metalhead, so far from Kiss stuff. But this song is awesome. Really is. I can see Ronnie Dio and Ritchie Blackmore loving that.
00:08 By the way, is that Homer Simpson? 😳
Raw live recording, I think so, but there is a live recording of them on TV, Friday's, that is on here somewhere. That's the best one. It's was during Paul's Barbara Streisand hair days

This is a good tune..I like different metal tunes by kiss off the wall stuff i like..Great tune..
If this came out around the time of the Selling England By The Pound/Close to the Edge prog era it wouldve been huge.
Something I would have loved to see live in all the times I’ve seen kiss in the uk 🇬🇧
My God that sounded great!
Thanks for posting! 🤘
Great song and eric kills on the drums but paul demonstrates why they only played it twice 😂
Didn’t like The Elder when it came out but IT GROWS ON YOU OVER TIME! This is a good song.
Yes it does
The music is solid, but I'm sorry Paul Stanley's voice,😳
The Elder es lo más!! Amo ese album
Interesting to see Eric really into playing the oath from 1981 and very enthusiastic about it.Usually its just a production line boring setlist.
I was there
It sucks to hear Paul not give this song and this album praise.
What are they thinking?
paul and eric sound great
I love that song so much 😊😊😊😎💥🔥💯💪
And Paul sings great here🎉
Eh… no.
I like when they did with Eric Carr on the show Ace played the hell out of that guitar you guys should check it out

The elder-супер
This is awesome.
wrong album for the time. I think their explanation of its creation is true, but there was some good stuff that came out of it.
Vive kiss forever pourquoi y joue jamais any way you want it j'adore ce titre 👍💖🗼
I wish they would have toured this album. The set would have been amazing. This song rocks
I wish they played this live in 1987 88..Paul could have hit the high notes for sure then.
I’m surprised they’re playing an Elder song lol
Sure Paul is struggling to hit the high notes for sure but it's not terrible. Kudos on the effort; I give it a thumbs up
The greatest tribute band to Kiss ever !!!! 😂😂😂
KISS PLAYS KISS SONGS NOT COVERS !!!!!!!!!!! LIKE YOU GO ANYWAY!!!!! LOL😂😂
awesome
In retrospect. The Elder was a Great concept album. Its Dynasty and even worse unmasked that wasnt really where they should have went.

oops, i misread the date. 61-62 years old. Still in good shape. lol
Gene should have used that outfit for the End of the Road tour
Agreed
Eric was still into playing at this point. The last few years he has seemed bored
That’s what a click track does to a drummer.
@@basketcase6999and the playing same boring setlist from the first 4-5 albums. I’d love to see Eric team up with Bruce and his band.

THE ELDER! ...nuf sed!
👍🤟
I prefer the Unmasked album.
Paul is hot as❤
This should have been the 2nd song opener after Detroit Rock City every jaw would dropped and the evening would have been made special for everyone but we got say yeah should be titled say Why ????????
OMG - This is so sad… what’s worse: Paul’s voice here, or the whole Elder debacle?
Def the former.
Paul's Voice is Now Horrible
@@danielparra6710 what voice?
Sadly, Paul’s voice here sounds perfectly passable compared to his voice today when not using tapes.
but he could never sing this song, even back in the day. The falsetto doesn't work.
And first time i heard Eric play cool drums
Love this song....this was AMAZING compared to the band today that just recently called it quits. Stayed waaaay to late at the party.
Sounds 10000 times better than the " Friday's" version.. and I'm a stickler for accurate shit.😉
Cheater Criss and Fake Frehley

Paul's voice has been destroyered for so long...even in 2013 it's painful to listen to
Cool, wish they'd break out Mr. Blackwell
Ugh........that is the WORST KISS song!
This song would be good if paul didnt sing high like that. It sounds ridiculous.
the falsetto in this song was a really bad creative choice. It has always sounded off, which is a shame because its a great song.
Some of the vocals sound like fairies farting glitter.
How did they not see how better this song would have been without the high-pitched chorus? Ruined the song.
Pushin our luck?he s so damn dramatic
we need eric carr
WE 😂LOL
Lol people saying this is a great album haha. That album is pure trash except for this absolute banger and "I" is also great from this album. The rest you can flush.
2:26 2:30 bass lick totally out of key
Sucks
The drumming is so off on this. Singer does such a disservice to the late Eric Carr. What the hell is Singer even playing?
Which specific parts are off?
