Good villains are relatable. If we can feel for the one we oppose, it raises the stakes so much higher. She, like Emet-Selch, is a dangerous person who must be stopped, but to understand that her malice is the result of being deprived of love is really human. Gosetsu is the first person to ever really show her compassion. 😢
The whole death fake thing felt manipulative, but I think Yotsuyu is my favourite character, for the richness and sadness of her story, not because she's actually likable obviously. It's such a bleak, and real arc.
Manipulative? She actually lost her memories. She was forced to remember everything because of asahi's ploy. And yea, she's one of the better written villains in ff14. She's a bittersweet tragic villain that only became evil because she only knew hate. "A child who feels no warmth from their village will grow up to burn it all down just to feel a little warmth"
@@sjwoo13 I mean, it's manipulative writing to explicitly kill her Goezetsu and then bring them back to life out of nowhere, not that Tsuyu is being manipulative
@@Kate-ms2mn I understand why you might think that. But I think the reason they did it was to sort of drive home the themes and morals of the Stormblood expansion. A tragic example of what her life could have been had the world been kinder... which makes the reality that much more cruel when her memories return. We, the players, now understand how monsters are created through suffering and cruelty, and how we become what we endure. It's also an example of the evils to be found in the country we're trying to save, showing that it's not just Garlemald that needs to change. After all, what better represents CHANGE, than the phases of the moon? This too follows into the themes of Endwalker, how despair can make monsters of us all, no matter how pure our souls may have otherwise been.
Kinda weird that when I fight her, only the music it out, lyrics not been sung for my perspective. Maybe I was so concentrated to the fight that it cause the lyrics to mute from me

Tsuyu deserved better.
Tsuyu maybe. Yotsuyu no. She was a real piece of work.
Yotsuyus story was the best part of stormblood.
Her trial ghots mechanics are phenomenal
