In this episode, Drew opens his coin safe to show you why protecting your coins is important! Casey and Drew spent $3000 on this safe which is pretty cheap compared to many safes out there. This allows them to store all of their coins comfortably in their inventory and personal collection.

Actually, "TL30 rated safe" means a bit more than what they mentioned in the video. TL30 Means Tools Resistant for 30 Minutes. The way a safe like this is rated is that safe experts at UL (Underwriter Laboratories) are allowed 30 minutes "net working time" to enter the safe. This is not the same thing as 30 minutes on your clock. It means the time that a tool is in contact with the safe for 30 minutes. For example. - If they are trying to cut through the safe using a circular saw and after 6 minutes they determine this is not going well, blade just broke, change blade - The clock stops while that is happening. So the key here basically time tools are in actual contact with the safe. They are allowed to use a wide variety of drills, saws, cutting wheels, power saws, etc. In reality - It could take 45 minutes "tool time" or 180 minutes "tool time" to enter the safe, but it is GUARANTEED for 30. A TL30 rated safe does not mean someone can open it in 30 minutes. That is simply a minimum rating. Safes like this have other security features including glass relockers and the walls / back of the safe has a compost material usually made of concrete mixed with metal shards which will absolutely render a circular saw / saws-all totally useless (in a reasonable period of time). The term "safe cracker" to most people, means someone sitting there spinning the dial and trying to figure out the combination. In reality, these safes also have UL rated combination dials that are basically impossible to "crack" - Unless you have many many hours of time and are a true expert in the trade. The fastest way into a safe is always through the safe itself, not trying to guess the combination with a stethoscope like they use in the movies! There are other time ratings as well such as TL60 (60 minute rating). In addition, there are even HIGHER grades such as TR rated safes - These are resistant against torches (including plasma cutters). For what its worth - The $1200 gun safes a lot of people have it home are NOT a UL rated product for anything other than fire protection. Your typical gun safe can be opened like a can of cheap tuna in less than 5 minutes using common household tools. A gun safe and a burglary safe are two totally different animals. Drew - Love your videos! Keep it up. Big Fan here

None stop good information as always, never stop and never stop disclosing for how much you buy the coins, for how much they were asking and the haggle to agree on the final price and every now and then the story on coins you walked away because the dealer was to greedy or flat out not wanting to negotiate with you, very educational.

Great safe . I am glad you got a good deal on it . I keep my collections in a double door safe that my father in law was able to get me for free from the Railroad when he retired in the early 80s . It weighs about 1000 pounds it has two doors . The first door is about 5 to 6 inches thick with a combination lock . The second door is about 3 inches thick solid steel and has a pick proof key lock . I have a Uncle and two really good friends who are lock Smiths . I had them try to see if they could open it without destroying my safe and not one of the 3 could get past the combination lock . So i opened the combination lock door and not even one of the 3 could pick the key lock door either . My wife and i had the safe put in our house while it was being built cause the safe wont fit through any of the doors in our house . You guys picked up a very good safe at a good price . That's a very , very smart and good security investment .

Good Deal on the safe it's a smart investment for selling and personal use. Only thing I would add to this setup is an energy effective dehumidifier. Those packs help but a nice 25-50-pint bin dehumidifier works awesome in SE TEXAS wet climate. I keep my coin area with mine at 30% Humidity year-round and coins look just the same even tonners years down the road since I got them.

I got lucky on my security . . . in our city there is a distributor of old ATM safes. They gut them, recondition them, and sell/deliver. They need to go on a cement floor. Overall weight is about 2000# and they are rated TL-15. Have had it for years . . .they sold and delivered (flatbed truck and forklift into the garage) for around $1000. Security thought . . . . I spent a good amount, have a secure safe (hey, they are built to leave 50 grand on a streetcorner--they have to be nice), but I also realized that in a serious robbery/attack/theft, all a bad guy has to do is hold a gun to your wife's head and say, "Open it now." TL-15, TL-30, TL-anything . . . . you are at their mercy. So . . . . you don't reveal anything as a collector, don't jabber with anybody loudly in the coffee shop, and realize that no run-of-the-mill thief can get into a TL-15, so you are secure under almost any circumstance. Mine is about 1/2 the volume of yours. Nice safe you have !!!!! Drunner

I went in on a investment property with a friend. the building was a old bank and Opera House hotel on the top floors in the 20s. upon the remodeling of the lower floor for a few law offices we came across a 30'x30' Hamilton vault behind the elevator. at the time I was shopping for a safe..so now me and my buddies have a man cave vault for collectibles.

Absolute Monster of a personal safe! Biggest I’ve ever seen. I have a AutoBank with a timer like the ones the gas stations use that I got for free and a smaller Sentry safe for jewelry and Currency. Much like a coin that Safe is a good investment and will always hold its value. So yah $3k is a lot to spend but that money is still there, it’s not like it’s gone or something

Making vault undetectable by the use of false walls, hidden panels, etc is a Superior strategy. A diamond cutting blade on a six inch grinder makes quick work for a thief. Better to make its presence undetectable if such a strategy applies to ones situation
