Satisfying to know these machines are all given a new lease on life. This is the tech that defined the 80's and a big part of what made that era the most awesome time to grow up in.

Hi Teddy, Great work going on in your restorations. I resolved this capstan sleeve issue on an Aiwa AD6300 by using food grade silicon tubing that I found on eBay. I couldn't get anything else that did not produce high amounts of flutter when I did wow and flutter tests.

I think the sight/smell of the roaches alone would have put me off restoring something like this but you persevered - cleaned it up and got it all working.

The flywheel should be removed with the white plastic pulley still attached to avoid damage - it slides right off the shaft when the flywheel is withdrawn.
The tubing should have a 5mm OD and importantly, a 2mm ID (not 3mm as it will slip).
The ‘worn out tyre’ you removed very rarely needs to be replaced - it’ll need a clean up, yes but not replaced.
I’ve serviced around 25 of these decks and I’d have to say they’re super easy to work on and rarely give any issues after a proper service.🙂

The part you're having a hard time finding their's a solution. Ever heard of 3D printing.
