I had some pieces of my grandmother’s that were taken that day. The feeling is very violating. We didn’t know that there was a burglar ring hitting our area (unincorporated). We also think that my Mom walked in on them, and they dashed out our back door. So things could’ve been worse. I was engaged once. I had hoped to upgrade my ring to resemble my Mom’s as I thought it was the most beautiful ring on the planet. Maybe one day 🤞. Today’s ring styles don’t really do much for me. I started laughing and just loved him more for his solution to the "stone is a little too big" dilemma. About a year later, we were talking about the ring, he said it was the prettiest thing he's gotten me and he liked seeing it on me. I then asked him, "why did you have the jeweler replace the diamonds with bigger ones? You could've just had a smaller amethyst reset in it. Wasn't the way you did it so much more expensive?" He stared at me for a minute, the he jumped up, grabbed my hand and pulled my ring off, then ran to the door. I hollered laughing "what are you doing?!" He turned around and said "I didn't think of that! I'm going back to have him change it and get the difference in the money back!" I chased him out the door and retrieved my ring!
