question- does she pronounce it like Gloria, like the traditional way? Cause I always say ge LOR ee uh in my head and I thinks it's pretty! But I don't want to be disrespectful either.
Jen, I’m actually a physician and the way you are talking about going through puberty earlier sounds misleading. I don’t think you mean it to be, but it is. The trend in puberty occurring gradually earlier since the 18th century is considered to be due to improved nutrition and fewer serious childhood illnesses. It’s the acceleration in the trend that is concerning and could be due to hormone disruptors like this fragrance. I think this is what you meant to express, but I don’t think it was clear. Currently early or precocious puberty in girls is any sign of puberty before 8.
I think there are very many more hormone disruptors than a fragrance. There are so many disruptors in our environment. Many are byproducts of the plastic and chemical industries. I am 64, I began my menopause and menarche early. My first period was at ten. I had my last period just before I turned fifty. My sister was 15 when she had her first period.
I think you make a very good point I had started mine at 11 and that was the 90 and my mum fed us so healthy and cooked everything from scratch, so I agree with your health and good eating point
My first cycle in the very early 80's at nine, and my dear friends girls cycles at six and eight in the early 2000's were very alarming. rBGH/rBST in dairy isn't healthy, and plays a decent factor in it.
The way she was going about puberty? You mean she was reading an article on an actual study that had recently been done? You mean how she mentioned hey I don’t know about this but this is happening and of course we’re going to have to study much much further into it, but it’s something of note? I’m so confused by your comment. She didn’t seem to go about it in the way that you implied.
Social media as a workplace can be such a messed up situation. Creators are not only subjected to but fully expected to put up with harassment, racism, sexism, you name it. I respect her for taking care of her mental health first and think that’s a great example to set.
i was 9 when i had my first period back in the 90's. they had no supplies to help us and the nurse said i was faking cramps that had me in tears and wouldn't call my mom until i went to the principal instead. they had no place to dispose of tampons or pads, and the trash cans were by communal sinks outside both bathrooms--i had to wrap up anything used and smuggle it out as fast as possible. finding out why kids have been starting earlier is important but so is helping and caring for them when it happens; they're still just kids. being made to explain to my grown ass female teacher why i kept having to go to the bathroom during class was so stressful.
Wow that's so sad my primary school (I'm in the UK it would be elementary school in US) and they had one special toilet that girls who started could use we had to ask for a key but it was a kinda safe place N teacher would let you go to the bathroom during class so people wouldn't heat you rustling your pads and that was the 90s
It's so scary for little girls, the boys teasing the mean girls the older men staring. It's scary cause how do you explain to a little girl the dangers that she may face
I was also 9! I’m so lucky to have a mom that explained everything thoroughly and without shame and that another girl at school knew what was going on. I thought I was dying lol
@@yvonnekilla3971 it really is, like the guy taking yearbook photos telling me, an 11yo, that i look 16, and me thinking at the time "oh wow i must seem mature," then jump forward ten years and realizing that is NOT what he meant. i developed early and didn't clock the crazy weird shit men said to me until i was much older. i think parents are much more aware now and calling it out when they see it but it shouldn't be happening at all
@@mcomeaux3087 haha even when they tell you beforehand the first time it happens is still mildly heart attack inducing. my mom told me about everything before i ended up starting but i think the only reason i didn't panic was because i was already home from school that day when i noticed (in my KHAKIS). it's good there was another girl who knew what was happening, as far as i know i was the first girl in my class and they weren't the kind of girls who would be nice about it, they already gave me trouble for being the first one in a bra, like i play sports what do you want me to do lol
@@sunnysorrel I’m so sad for her 😢 she definitely needs to have someone manage her IG full time/block shitty people. She shouldn’t even have to see such traumatizing hate comments 😭
@@Pkrol-t6cI mean there is definitely a cross over but lbr, black women have always been treated like this and we need to stop acting shocked and like this is brand new or a one off thing.
Golloria is so well spoken & such a beautiful, strong individual using her platform for something so necessary & powerful & I feel so deeply for the cruelty she’s had to endure on a daily basis. I hope she’s able to find some peace on her break & if/when she chooses to come back she’s somehow able to find a way to move forward in the safest way for her mental health.💜
Pls do not call black people, "well spoken", I get your comment had good intentions but.... the idea is that other black people are not? She is more acceptable because she has an accent that aligns more with whiteness? It's anti-black, and aligns with the issues Golloria spoke about in her statement. ❤
I hear what you’re saying. I didnt mean it how it came off I meant in the way she constantly makes videos about the SAME issues in the makeup industry that should’ve have long changed by now but in all the videos she comes at it in a way to only create a growth producing conversation & I would get so tired of that I’d wanna come on & rage eventually (and I’m a patient person) when it’s the same thing. Or with youthforia how it was lie after slight after not taking accountability & she just keeps trying to move the needle & it’s admirable. I can completely see how my wording wasn’t the best, especially over text only & I’ll absolutely keep that in mind in the future. 🩷💜💙
Golloria has accomplished so much good with her platform. The internet is the most toxic place. Proud of her for standing up for herself when she needed a break from it.
I am a pale write woman in an overwhelmingly white community and when I first watched your video on Youthforia I went to several local places and was shocked with their color options. I know that a lot was due to what sells at those stores BUT when I went online to try to find more color options for foundations, I realized that the differences from one shade to the next darkest I could rarely tell with the lighter options and found numerous that could work for me, then I looked at darker options and there were huge jumps and sometimes no options at all. I got into make up about a year ago despite being in my 40’s and your channel truly opens my eyes for darker complexions.
if you like learning about makeup for those with darker skin and color theory around those products, may i suggest makeupbymonicaa as well? makeupbymonicaa does these great shorts where she and a pale skinned friend whose name i unfort cant remember test the same lipstick, or whatever product, and show how having different skin tones can change the appearance of a shade due to color theory. i love her channel!
Golloria’d response was SO powerful 👏🏼 She shouldn’t have to make that response and the fact she was chased off IG in the year 2024 for her speaking out on legit issues??! It’s maddening. She deserves better
My heart goes to Golloria. She is a voice for woman of color. May the community continue to support her and rise her up!! Thank you Jen for respecting and encouraging Golloria!
Hi, Jen! Kpop fan here 🙋🏾♀️ we're extremely protective of our idols privacy. They don't have much time for themselves, they have no much freedom of action in almost anything they do, so protecting their private lives is a way of respecting their hard work❤ I'm not a Seventeen's fan but I cannot imagine how disgusted and angry the fandom was when they realized that their idol wasn't being protected. It's so scary to think about these infringements to the artists' privacy happening all the time without people knowing 😢
Between this and the Andrew Schultz debacle, it has once again been revealed to us Black women that we get no respect, no care, and no defenders. Pour into yourselves and your community of fellow Black women, and be free. Black ladies: it’s rough out here for us, I love you all, and I hope you love yourselves as much as I love you. 💕 Jen, thank-you so much for your intelligence, empathy and persistence in your reporting of this ongoing issue.
Sending some internet love back at ya girl. I agree us black women are always the butt of the joke and are always viewed as less then especially online. We are always the first to be out there to protect everyone else and campaign for everyone but it seems that, that is not enough we have to be tough but viewed as masculine and not feminine enough for us to be cared for. These people hiding behind screens are disgusting and most of them wouldn't say what they say online to our faces but they are convinced that they are not racist it's crazy to me they can't see who they are
@@deedeedussard I’ve lived every moment of your wonderful comment. We’re constantly vilified, and the coping mechanisms that we have to adopt in order to survive are demonized; even though our traits would be admired in anyone else. And, evidently, we only have two settings: Angry Black Woman, and Welfare Queen Baby Momma. The world believes that the Black woman thrives in the face of oppression, so there is no need for anyone to consider her humanity. Heck, people who abuse us seem to think that they are actually doing us a favour because abuse forges the Strong Black Woman, our final form, or some other nonsense. The Black woman is just a side character in the dramatist personae of life, here to serve, but deserving of no reciprocity. The mosquito bites, the mosquito spews vitriol when we scratch the bite, the world sides with the mosquito. The White woman uses us so she can be equal amongst all White people, the Black man uses us to make all men equal. Look, I have important naps to take, so maybe they can march for themselves, and spare us this “Black woman always save the world!” song and danced. They abuse us into saving the world, so really, they’re the heroes, huh? We must make sure to thank them when they watch us bleed out in the maternity ward.
Yes! That was a mess especially since two black men laughed as if it was the most hilarious comment or "joke" they heard. I am able to take jokes based on race, gender, religion, etc but there are some remarks that aren't jokes and are very offensive and I don't think its because of being "woke". Its just being a decent human. Sometimes I think of remarks or comments but I don't say them because of me not wanting to hurt another person's feelings since words can be used as weapons!
Just a note on the baby powder, dynarex is a well known medical product company for both the human and veterinary world. They're most popular for their wound bandaging materials. They're not just some random company on Amazon. Hospitals are major purchasers of their products too. I think this is an important distinction because when we hear about a contaminated product on Amazon, the assumption is that it was some small illegitimate company and that you should only purchase from well known brands. This was a well known brand. I wonder if neonatal units at hospitals had bought this, or if this product is ONLY sold on amazon.
I work in hospital supply and, while this brand isn't used in my hospital, I'd also be pretty freaked out if I heard that Hollister ostomy supplies or Mepilex bandages on Amazon were contaminated.
Little input: Many countries actually don’t allow any public filming at all (exception being “official” professional filming), or even use of action/dash cameras etc. Regarding puberty it has been proven, that - same as with lifespan, height etc. - today’s nutrition, environment (heating, houses, cars, clothes…), hygiene and medical care have the major impact. Stress is actually a counter factor. Fun & interesting video as always! Best wishes ❤
Yeah, pretty much if the female body has enough nutrients to flourish, it will start periods, 11-12yo is a healthy average age, and you won't get them if you're malnutritioned or over exercising, so think gymnasts, ballerinas, anorexia, it stops puberty from triggering.
@@darkydoom Exactly! And today’s environment puts less and less strain on the body. “Noticing” that genetically, the body is adapted to earlier puberty, because there’s a biological ceiling in age. Best wishes ❤️
@@darkydoomI was wondering if I was one of the last girls to get her period among my peers because I was underweight. I was just shy of 14, 5’4 and maybe 75 pounds? I was 90 pounds when I graduated high school.

Jen, thank you so much for including the topic about children going through puberty at earlier ages. I know you were worried about it bc of fear mongering but as a parent, it’s sooooo important for me as a parent to understand what’s potentially impacting our children. I don’t get exposed to a lot of this without your channel and work. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
@@victoriab1544 as someone that went through a very early puberty, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, I had my first period at 9 and it really messed up my mental health. I really hope this can be taken as seriously as it is because the female reproductive system is overlooked too often. Your concerns are not too much ❤️❤️
Just a note, there are a small but significant number of 10-13 year olds who have given birth historically (almost all victims of incest, most what we now consider SA), and we can extrapolate what we know about fertility & social norms to tell us that early onset puberty was never common, but likely not as rare as we think. I definitely think testing should be done & I’ll await answers from scientists, but it is worth remembering that, until very recently, we likely only heard about early female puberty (obviously male puberty is also an issue but not as easily tracked) when the worst possible series of events occurred. Even then, likely many pre-teen pregnancies were concealed. I do still wonder about the two girls in my 8th grade to have babies. This was before statutory was enforced. Now I know that fertility takes 6-12 months, at least, to become regular, and 13 is the average age for first menses. I would have thought that these pregnancies were huge red flags & bore CFS investigation, but both girls were treated like juvenile delinquents. But that’s a big huge massive red flag for WTF were parents doing and are these mystery boyfriends real?
I am 52 and started it all early and was raised on a hippie all organic, all home grown and raised, well water supplied way so it sure wasn’t anything in the food or water or perfumes. I started period at 10 and had my breasts fully in by 12. Historically girls were married off before their teens and started bearing children. Not so sure history backs up this being as new as claimed. I have a good chunk of Latina though and that seems to me to be a more likely avenue of research. Betting they would find a link between the delightful mix of Latin dna being mixed with others syncs well with early development.
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldgloryThis is a really excellent observation. Only thing i'd add to it is that there is a slight skew about preteen marriages in european history, as it was mainly performed by the ruling classes/royalty. Peasantry or working classes tended to marry closer to their late teens and 20s. Younger marriages happened ofc, but it often entailed losing an extra hand in the household or the financial stress of helping support a new one. I can only speak for eurocentric history though.
@@omegasobsessions yep I started my period at 11 and by 14 had bigger breasts than my mum (but my dad's side are very curvy women) I agree that genetics do also play a role as my mum grew all our veggies and we used a local butcher. I think it's something that's always happened but I also think it has to do with the way the world is and the products we use
The idea of privacy in South Korean and Korean idols is very different, they have their private life very protected and everybody that is a fan feels angry when someone thinks that just because you are an artist your life is public, it's not.
Esthetician here to put in my 2 cents about the red light sticker- something to note is I wasn’t trained in light therapy in my school so I didn’t get in depth education about it but I know basics. The main things that stuck out to me is that the light is on top of the bandaid blocking the light from the skin. I don’t think that would work. she also said it can reduce appearance of pores. Pore size is genetic but the appearance of the size can be reduced by extracting congestion and softening with heat or moisture. To my knowledge red light can’t do those things
I am trying to no longer purchase from companies that are not inclusive of deeper skin tones. Even Indie brands have no excuse. I would much rather see ten or twenty shades that are super inclusive than 18 shades of beige. I feel like many makeup companies make way too many fair and light shades, and don’t care about the deepest of skin tones. It’s sad that I have fair to light skin and I can’t even find my shade these days, I can’t imagine how disheartening it can be for women and men who have the deepest skin tones. It’s 2024, why is this still a problem? Why are people still being racist on the internet in 2024? I am disgusted with keyboard warriors who would never speak like that in real life to another human.
@trishamarie it is company decision to make whatever they want.Shades ,tones, products. Not every brand has to be inclusive. Is like saying every supermarket has to sell food for the same price. Brands owe us nothing lets start realising that. They can produce what they want to whoever they target as customer.
The crazy thing about the golloria situation is Dior that claim to be inclusive sent her their ashy blush that would never work on her skin tone and she tried it and was honest and got hate for it I'm disgusted by Dior they have a women of colour in the advertising and the blush would never work on her irl because there is too much white in the product and would look ashy
I totally agree! When I first started wearing foundation I looked ridiculous because I was so pale. Even the lightest shade was always too dark. I never really thought about the other end of the spectrum (growing up in a small town with only white people) until a few years ago and still can’t wrap my head around how even more horrific their experiences are. I finally found a good match when Fenty came out and other brands followed suit, but still run into issues occasionally. I felt awkward when a new friend that just moved from Uganda asked where I buy makeup because she needed to get some nice stuff. I was worried that I might recommend her a brand that wasn’t inclusive and confessed that I use a lot of Asian makeup because I’m so light skinned. I did tell her what brands I thought were good but admitted that I don’t know how inclusive they are. Rare beauty, elf, nyx, and Rom&nd. She has been looking stunning lately so I should ask her what she eventually bought. 😊
@@mistymoon883 what are some actually pale foundations that don't oxidise to yellow? As a pale girly i am yet to find one and so far I am using concealer as foundation lol
@@allie773 I actually stopped wearing foundation and just do moisturizer and sunscreen now. Occasionally I’ll grab a tinted one if I’m feeling fancy lol Honestly I am pretty lazy about my makeup so when I had to spend time fussing with foundation and having trouble with it working with my skincare I just stopped bothering with it. However I do remember that for colour matching I was impressed with it cosmetics, colour pop, and a too faced one. As far as I know they didn’t oxidize weirdly on me. I used a laneige cushion foundation for quite a while but I think it was discontinued. Finding tinted moisturizer has gotten better in the last two years but it’s still pretty bad for tinted sunscreens. This summer I got the kosas dream beam and it’s just the tiniest bit too dark (and super shiny!) but it’s the best I’ve tried so far. I have been liking the color pop pretty fresh moisturizer, it’s just enough coverage for when I’m looking kinda dull and need a bit of color to perk me up.
You can definitely use cool toned eyeshadow with a warm skintone and vice versa! It’s just complexion products that always need to be the proper undertone 😊
absolutely! i have a neutral undertone and i’ve never cared about what undertone my blush, eyeshadow, lip products have. only concealer and foundation.
Golloria's post made me tear up. It shows that we have so much more to learn + grow as a society. I am a brown skinned Meixcan gal and I grew up being told how dark my skin was and it affected me so much. I'm in my late 20's and I still learning to accept and love my skin color. Colorism is still so prominent in every community. Black Women, Brown Women, Dark Skinned Women deserve respect ❤
Angelica Nyqvist did a video on the Odens eye collection and she managed to do looks with both cool toned and warm toned shadows even if her skin has a golden undertone. Looked beautiful❤
When reading research, it is essential to remember that correlation does not equal causation. In 1950, the mid-20th century, the average age of puberty for girls was 13.3. In addition to this one chemical, we also have to consider changes in our lifestyles, diet, etc., that have occurred over the past 170 years since the mid-1800s (or even over the last 70 years since 1950). What is most likely is that an amalgamation of variables associated with our modern lifestyles has led to this change.
So I have an olive undertone and often times I don't know how a color is going to look until it's on my skin. That being said a palette with both warm and cool tones wouldn't be a turn-off because adding a warm tone to a cool makes it more wearable and vice versa. Being limited to one undertone is often not ideal so basically working around that is what having both would be beneficial for.
I hope Golloria returns as she is so brilliant and, hopefully, companies will start to listen. Also, I was struck when you expressed gratitude for the lipgloss. I love that. XO
I have a very cool skin tone and I still love warm eyeshadows. When my eye look is intentionally warm, it works out. If I mix warm and cool, sometimes it can get iffy - even a little muddy. Certain blushes and lip colors help bring the eye looks together, too.
I'm confused about the early puberty thing. I thought that it was normal that 10-13 was the most common age to start your period. I started my period at 12, same age as my mother. I was told that if your period didn't start by the age of 16/17, you need to talk to a doctor. Also I thought that the age that you started your period has something to do with genetics as well as health?
I was considered a late bloomer at 14. I’m pretty sure I was the last of my friends to get my period and was definitely older than most of the women in my family.
I was always told that too. If you have a license but no consistent period, something is up. I was eleven, but my Mom was the youngest in her family at ten. My grandma was fourteen or fifteen I think, but she grew up in poverty during the Great Depression and WW2, so food was scarce. My other grandmother was twelve but her family was very well off. I have a cousin who had disordered eating habits and she was the latest on my Mom’s side at fifteen, outside of potentially our Grandma who had food insecurity. I have always heard good, CONSISTENT nutrition and environmental factors are the biggest components outside of genetics. Considering food rationing from the war eras and a very limited amount of vaccinations, I don’t think we can really get a solid picture on the effects of puberty and post menopause for another 30-50 years or so, at least on the modern age of society.
The problem with Nikkies “band-aid” is those tiny devices might not have enough red lights to be beneficial. I've seen doctors say that @ those smaller devices. Especially that one wand that looks like it only has 4 lights on it. Personally, I will only buy near infrared light devices.
Marketer here! Out of home or OOH literally means advertising you see outside, not in your home. So billboards, bus shelter ads, taxi ads or bus wraps, times square screens, etc. etc. There are many many options for OOH formats ☺️

Having a warm or cool skin tone doesn’t mean you can’t wear the other tone (other than maybe in complexion products). I am very definitely cool, but I can wear warm tones - they just look a bit more dramatic, where cool tones look more “natural”.
People this is why you need to start having conversations with your children about puberty and sex from young, even though its scary they are experiencing puberty from young its less scary for those children if you have those conversations and prepare them for what comes with those changes both physically, emotionally and experience with society so its not so overwhelming for them compared to them going through these changes with 0 knowledge, please have these convos with them because if they cant go to you who are they gonna go to, open that door for your children so its not so weird for them to talk about this stuff with you
I've honestly never been able to find a foundation that matches me either (too olive for neutral, too neutral for olive) but I am lucky enough to get close enough - dark girls can't even get that. Brands really need to do better. And I hate the way that brands are almost using the lacking shade ranges as a way to get publicity before dropping more shades. It's getting to be almost a formulaic way of getting noticed these days as opposed to just dropping a good product with a proper shade range.
If you're warm or cool toned you can still use the other colors. Kackie has some really great videos with in depth color theory describing how to make it work!!
I'm sorry, what? 16yo for periods?! That's late. Like, go see the doctor concerning late. I remember in sex ed as a 10yo that periods were normal to start around 12yo. Hence why women were married off from the age of 10 and up because you were considered a woman and fit for marriage (totally fucked up, but that's history for you). And look, maybe Anglo-Saxons start periods late, but amongst my bloodline (Greeks) we definitely start periods from 11yo, my kids, my gener Y, my mum's generation X, and my grandmother's lost generation. Have fun in Palm Springs. Get yourself some awesome Mexican food. I used to live near Palm Springs. Yucca Valley to be precise. It’s in the mountains above Palm Springs right next to Joshua Tree. Palm Springs/ Palm Desert and the surrounding areas get very windy. They’re hitting tourists season right about now. Good thing about that area is there’s little to zero humidity. I’m from Southern California (Los Angeles County) but grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m used to the desert.
A minor point, but I highly doubt your mom's generation is the mid-19th century (that would be 1850, not 1950!). Age of the onset of puberty has certainly decreased, but not quite as fast as people might think...
The excuse of covid pandemic on pre-mature puberty in girls is a cop out. When I was in elementary school in the 90s, girls went through puberty on average from 10-13 yo. I had mine at 10. My elementary school had the body talks starting in 4th grade. They have known this. But when it comes to women's body there isn't enough research or co sideratuob of their concerns. Remember plastic surgeon (male dominated) didn't believe breast implant sickness was real until thousands of women built a community in a Facebook group. In the 2020s, they have just started menstrual flows.
The Nimya band-aid looks very similar to something Neutrogena actually sold that was shaped like a pen. I did own that but I have no memory of how well it worked, but it was only $20. It was "disposable" because the bulb was only guaranteed to work after a certain amount of uses.
Yeah! It's a spin on the phrase "prêt-à-porter", which means "ready-to-wear" fashion as opposed to being bespoke or couture. I felt super fancypants when I learned it. c:

I actually do have the Nimya product. They don’t have the sticker sold separately yet so I’ve been cautiously using the stickers. I might just start holding it in the area once I run out. As far as results… possibly helping? It’s honestly hard to say at the moment but I do think it helps stop breakouts from becoming worse. There is a chance that’s my regular skincare doing most of the work there. It’s only been a few weeks.
16 average?? 16 as a firm cut-off point is already late, let alone 'average' implying many people have their period after 16. I just turned 30 and had my first period at 11. My mother is from the 50s and did not think that strange, nor did I feel strange amongst my classmates. I'd be lowkey concerned if a daughter of mine did not have her period yet by age 14 to be honest. The article you link in the description directs to another article for their claim that 16 was the average age. And that article claims 11 is the average age. So even your sources are saying otherwise. Granted THAT article also just states a bunch of things without any sources (which also disprove your claim), just like another article linked in relation to the study that uses fearmongering words like "alarming" but does not state any proof for this supposed decrease in age. I'm not usually one to easily dismiss stuff, but that's actual fearmongering. Your concern was justified and you should probably not have put that in. (I don't mean this as an attack or anything, but yknow. We already have enough misinformation to go around.)
I started at 16 due to malnourishment plus sportiness and it was considered medically late and that was back in the 90s. I was dx amenorrhoea for a time until it became regular with birthcontrol use. Although, I am not sure I'd say it's "fear mongering." It's just different sources and people can decide whether or not to give them any weight & if so, how much. One thing I've noticed, for example, is that while earlier puberty is often discussed, what is rarely discussed is what it actually means...like is it bad or just something to note. A.d I liked that Jen mentioned why it could be of concern.
I think the elf commercial is cute! Their ad campaigns always kill it and I do love that makeup remover! It’s the only one that’s been able to get me off the (must more expensive) Clinique Take the Day Off Balm
For red light masks, a full face mask for $100 is almost never the right frequency and volume of lights and are nearly ineffective. Good masks typically run &400+. FWIW- I used to work at a spa years ago that used targeted blue light on acne
31:48 yes, pretty sure I am cool toned and will bypass anything combined with warm tones at this point. If I am going to do a warm tone then I go for small collection palettes like what Juvia’s Place or Colorpop put out.
bruh after interacting with you (and Jen is a sweetheart offline) you make a video about nikkie, golloria and my idol mingyu? i love this episode already!!!!
As far as the Nimya products go, I think it’s an interesting concept for acne *if* it has blue light and they disclose the specs of the device. As far as the other device that is targeted at red light therapy only I really don’t see how that would be worth much of anything. As someone with acne, I would love to see a spot treatment like this that actually worked. I definitely have questions though about how effective that skin tape is. my take away is I don’t really think we’re there yet lol but it’s a start! As a sidenote, I guess we’re never gonna see that glow-in-the-dark cream that got leaked about a year ago lol maybe this took the place of that… probably for the best but I still really wanted to see it for the fun of it 😆
I don't wear makeup anymore (haven't in years). I'm not at all involved in the beauty industry. I love these videos and the deep dives. I like learning what's going on and being part of the realm even though I don't actively participate.
It’s really refreshing to see a beauty content creator saying ‘I didn’t get x product because I already have something like it already’. Rather than just buying anything and everything regardless. It’s responsible and sensible! Just wanted to give you kudos for that, as a recent subscriber and watcher ❤
Musk ambrette is very common in perfumery. It is an alternative to animal musk. Musk ambrette has many other names when listed on other products like deodorant or detergents, etc.
I got my period when I was 10, I’m in my late 30s now, my sister also did but so did my mom, we moved around a lot so I don’t think it’s linked to environment but more of an inherited factor, my mother’s side were all early bloomers, I hope those getting their period ‘early’ don’t feel shamed or panic over this, some of us just mature faster. Me, my sister and brothers all looked 18 when we were 14! 😂 but don’t worry if you are like us cause funnily enough we’re all in our 30s but get checked for Id all the time! I was asked to leave a store, me and my sister (both in our 30s) because they didn’t trust my Id and my sister forget her Id so I couldn’t buy a bottle of wine 😂 I was stopped another time because I forgot my id And my partner who’s younger than me, had to come to the store to buy it and wasn’t even asked! I was like ‘dude I have a mortgage!’ 😂
yes, as someone with neutral cool undertones i don’t but palettes with a whole section of warm tones unless they’re rainbow palettes (like blend bunny’s ellis atlantis is an exception)
As someone who is a makeup artist, I find the most flattering looks are those that combine warm, cool, and neutral tones. Therefore, I at least want a few pops of complimentary tones in a palette.
I live for your blooop swatches!!!! And as an esthetician targeted LED treatments for break outs and fine lines are fine especially since for some clients that’s all they need. I’m interested to know the intensity levels and really see more of the science behind the product tho, my curiosity is peaked!! Also similar thoughts on the L’Oréal patents I’ll have to keep a lookout for it. I currently also work at Ulta’s so if I hear anything I’ll have to circle back and let you know
I love that Unearthly palette! The colors look stunning! What is the wear time like? Does it have staying power or do you need eye primers and/or setting sprays to boost it?
i don’t think that’s unusual. my mom got hers at 12. i was 13-14. however, i know a family whose daughter got hers around age 7. which is way too early.
I’ve heard of Net-a-porter because I used to want to be a boogie girl and read all the fashion magazines. I don’t do that much anymore. Also, Golloria doesn’t deserve to be treated like she has been. It is the people running the platform who should be doing their job and ridding the platform of those disgusting people attacking her. She always speaks so eloquently and is so smart and talented and beautiful and this meanness should be banned. They want people on their platform, then the top brass needs to do its job.
I’m cool toned. Lots of pink in my skin. However with eyeshadows I wear both warm and cool tones. Especially more warm tones when I self tan but I’ll wear them even when I’m not self tanned. That pallet looks stunning and I want it. I haven’t wanted a pallet in a long time.
I wish Gloria all the best!! If she never returns to her platform she has already had a profound impact ❤ on the beauty industry and community! I do hope she comes back!! Yes, the Elf commercial is super cute! It made me laugh I almost left my makeup on last night and I was just going to use my facial wipes. I was exhausted but I still double cleansed and used my moisturizer 😉 I watched Allie Dawson review the new Odens Eye eternal twilight collection and the eyeshadow palette is so gorgeous!!! The highlighters are so beautiful but I would only use it on my eyes too! The new Nimya skin care tool sounds interesting but I have a mask that does red and blue light device for my entire face. It will be interesting to see what skincare and dermatologists say about it! The LaMer lipgloss is very beautiful! I’m happy you have it ☺️ I love your makeup look in today’s video Jen ❤
God, Gloria is so incredibly intelligent and incredible. I know for a fact that she has already changed lives. This burden shouldn't be something she had to beat and she did it with unimaginable grace. So so much respect for her calling out the shit in such a raw and deep way.
I am so sad about Golloria! I love her content so much and it breaks my heart that she's been experiencing so much hate! It breaks my heart that racism is even a thing, and that so many people experience harassment and sometimes even violence for the colour of their skin. Something that they were born with and that is what makes them beautiful and unique! I feel so powerless when I think about all the injustices that people have had to endure for so long. She has also made this decision with such eloquence and grace. Even when she responded to that person, she did it with such kindness while educating people on the real issues at hand. I hope she can find the joy in what she does again and while I know that the comments might not stop, I love that she is prioritizing herself and her peace.
As a black woman that gravitates towards warm palettes, it really depends on quality, intensity, whether matte vs shimmer vs duo chrome. I have a few cool tone palette/shades that I wear obsessively!!! Like blue eyeshadow.
I LOVE the Oden's eye palette. I don't own this one, but own others. Their quality is really good & so are their brushes! I mix warm & cool shadows frequently. Cool tone can tone down warmth &/or add depth & of course same for the warms, they add warmth &/or depth.
*NOTE* - Contrary to what I said, my mother is NOT a vampire! I just had a brain fart moment. Haha! 19th century is the mid 1800's, of course! Goodness... :)
No worries Jen!! It happens!
I usually sleep in on Sundays and only catch the end of chat. Today I was up early and grabbed my phone to jump on…
Looks like only one of us can be awake on time 😂😂
Hey Jen. Out of Home (OOH) means billboards (traditional and digital) and any outside advertising (buildings, walls etc. )
Lol I had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly. It made me giggle. Mistakes happen! ❤
I smelled what you were stepping in...
Even if golloria never comes back, she’s still already made a profound impact. I wish her the best!
question- does she pronounce it like Gloria, like the traditional way? Cause I always say ge LOR ee uh in my head and I thinks it's pretty! But I don't want to be disrespectful either.
@ericatucker2683 it's Go-llo-ria :)
@@ericatucker2683 I thought it was Glow-Ria. Like a mix of Glow and Gloria but I could be wrong.
That's crazy, my niece was 8 and I thought that was too young.
Social media as a workplace can be such a messed up situation. Creators are not only subjected to but fully expected to put up with harassment, racism, sexism, you name it. I respect her for taking care of her mental health first and think that’s a great example to set.
I’ve never really described someone’s writing as eloquent, but hers is eloquent as hell
i was 9 when i had my first period back in the 90's. they had no supplies to help us and the nurse said i was faking cramps that had me in tears and wouldn't call my mom until i went to the principal instead. they had no place to dispose of tampons or pads, and the trash cans were by communal sinks outside both bathrooms--i had to wrap up anything used and smuggle it out as fast as possible. finding out why kids have been starting earlier is important but so is helping and caring for them when it happens; they're still just kids. being made to explain to my grown ass female teacher why i kept having to go to the bathroom during class was so stressful.
@@yvonnekilla3971 it really is, like the guy taking yearbook photos telling me, an 11yo, that i look 16, and me thinking at the time "oh wow i must seem mature," then jump forward ten years and realizing that is NOT what he meant. i developed early and didn't clock the crazy weird shit men said to me until i was much older. i think parents are much more aware now and calling it out when they see it but it shouldn't be happening at all
@@mcomeaux3087 haha even when they tell you beforehand the first time it happens is still mildly heart attack inducing. my mom told me about everything before i ended up starting but i think the only reason i didn't panic was because i was already home from school that day when i noticed (in my KHAKIS). it's good there was another girl who knew what was happening, as far as i know i was the first girl in my class and they weren't the kind of girls who would be nice about it, they already gave me trouble for being the first one in a bra, like i play sports what do you want me to do lol
golloria deserves so much better
@@sunnysorrel I’m so sad for her 😢 she definitely needs to have someone manage her IG full time/block shitty people. She shouldn’t even have to see such traumatizing hate comments 😭
She really does I love her content she has great energy. Plus she helps me know what companies to avoid.
Could some of these haters be due to political views?
I meant political climate
@amiam8116 I’d say she is well-spoken if she actually IS particularly well-spoken, but she just speaks normally lol
Nobody cares nor needs white saviors like you any longer!!! Your whiteness doesn’t make your opinion somehow matter more. Racist.
It's so scary to think about these infringements to the artists' privacy happening all the time without people knowing 😢
as a fellow kpop fan here (and a carat) you said this perfectly!!!
As a Carat, I can assure you that we were very much disgusted and angry. You honestly put this into words perfectly.
sorry for the stupid question but when did she mention seventeen?

Between this and the Andrew Schultz debacle, it has once again been revealed to us Black women that we get no respect, no care, and no defenders. Pour into yourselves and your community of fellow Black women, and be free.
Black ladies: it’s rough out here for us, I love you all, and I hope you love yourselves as much as I love you. 💕
Jen, thank-you so much for your intelligence, empathy and persistence in your reporting of this ongoing issue.
🙏💚💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I'm sorry i don't follow him but what did Andrew shulz say?
Little input:
Many countries actually don’t allow any public filming at all (exception being “official” professional filming), or even use of action/dash cameras etc.

I'm so happy to see influencers model and encourage self care. So often self care is considered "selfish" or "weak", but it's one of the strongest things one can do, and one has to be selfish sometimes so they can continue to help others. Can't pour from an empty cup. Your emotional needs are no less than anyone else's!
Occasionally I’ll grab a tinted one if I’m feeling fancy lol
Honestly I am pretty lazy about my makeup so when I had to spend time fussing with foundation and having trouble with it working with my skincare I just stopped bothering with it.
It’s horrible she’s having to deal with this, what Golloria is doing is amazing and I hope she’s able to get back to herself soon ❤
I have a warm/neutral undertones so I would love a pallette like that because in the summer I'm more neutral and winter I'm more warm so this is ideal
I hope Golloria returns as she is so brilliant and, hopefully, companies will start to listen. Also, I was struck when you expressed gratitude for the lipgloss. I love that. XO
I just love having a cup of coffee while Jen gives us all the beauty news each Sunday morning. ❤☕️
it's my fave little weekly ritual
Yeah that's my experience also. 16 is super late.
Hm. When I got mine at 16, my doctor wasn't concerned at all.
I haven't watched Golloria's content myself, but her responses to the comments exude pure class 👌
Marketer here! Out of home or OOH literally means advertising you see outside, not in your home. So billboards, bus shelter ads, taxi ads or bus wraps, times square screens, etc. etc. There are many many options for OOH formats ☺️
I used to with doing outdoor advertising for a really small company my cousin owned. I've got some stories 😂😂
I being a woman of color hate what has happened to Gloria. I have never understood why people have to write nasty comments! Poor breeding! I was taught "If you can't say anything positive or nice then don't comment at all". If you do not like something don't watch! Scroll past. Thus is what I do. If I don't like a influencers content, style or info I just love on with our making nasty comments! That helps No one. Change of subject, why can't companies test talc before putting it in products instead of after. Our FDA is out dated they are so behind! Thanks for the info and your channel, love you!🖒😄💖💜
I absolutely feel for Gloria. Being Black is exhausting, may she find abundant peace.
@@picklethepepperew look, another racist saying we should leave our country that's been our home for 300 years 🤢🤮 why don't you go back to Europe, colonizer?
Hi! Marketing pro here! Out of Home (OOH) refers to ads like billboards or the screens that you see in malls. I imagine that it will be in major shopping areas so that they don’t cause major traffic accidents. Love your videos!
I'm 46 and got my period at 10! It was the summer between 4th and 5th grade. I was so freaked out because I had no clue what was happening to me.
I’m 40 and got mine at 9! Luckily I had a mom that was amazing and had prepared me, but it was still nuts being a 4th grader with boobs and my period!
Having a warm or cool skin tone doesn’t mean you can’t wear the other tone (other than maybe in complexion products). I am very definitely cool, but I can wear warm tones - they just look a bit more dramatic, where cool tones look more “natural”.
Poor Golloria. I hope she finds peace and does come back.
People this is why you need to start having conversations with your children about puberty and sex from young, even though its scary they are experiencing puberty from young its less scary for those children if you have those conversations and prepare them for what comes with those changes both physically, emotionally and experience with society so its not so overwhelming for them compared to them going through these changes with 0 knowledge, please have these convos with them because if they cant go to you who are they gonna go to, open that door for your children so its not so weird for them to talk about this stuff with you
Yep, my mom never talked to me and when I started my period I thought I was about to die.
Mid 19th century is like 1850, so unless your mom is like a vampire, I don't think she was born then.
❤💯
I'm sorry, what? 16yo for periods?! That's late. Like, go see the doctor concerning late. I remember in sex ed as a 10yo that periods were normal to start around 12yo. Hence why women were married off from the age of 10 and up because you were considered a woman and fit for marriage (totally fucked up, but that's history for you). And look, maybe Anglo-Saxons start periods late, but amongst my bloodline (Greeks) we definitely start periods from 11yo, my kids, my gener Y, my mum's generation X, and my grandmother's lost generation.
The youngest I heard of was my cousin at 7yo but was diagnosed with PCOS etc. And that would have been like 1990
My friend hadn't gotten hers by the age of 16. That's how she found out it would be difficult to conceive. She's not able to have children now.
@@lolamurder1882 I'm so sorry to hear that. I know a lot of people don't want kids now, but also just the other possible hormone issues they may be facing as adults; hope they're OK.
my mum got it at 18 and idk but i always heard that until 18 it is 'safe' but idk, i got it at 10
I was 15 almost 16 when I got my period. I personally don’t have PCOS or Endometriosis. I was just a late bloomer, and very physically active (is what the doctor told my mother) I’m 38 I have a normal cycle and have since. 🤷🏻♀️ note: I was born allergic to my mothers breast milk, cows milk & goats milk. (I don’t know if this may have been a factor)
@ronnie-lynn I also got mine at 16. I was slightly underweight, which could have contributed, but my doctor wasn't at all concerned.
Golloria equals grace. Bless you beauty Queen. ❤
Don’t forget, this Wicked movie is just PART ONE! The film is split into TWO parts! It’s not being promoted this way for obvious reasons but just keep in mind we get another year of Wicked collections running up to the second film!
I love elf commercials so much, they’re so cheesy and love when they’re included in the light hearted stories! My personal favorite has been the elf x liquid death collab as someone who is goth 🖤🖤
The new elf commercial does fit with the idea of Halloween. They’re really getting on their production game when it comes to commercials. Also, your reaction towards the glam light and hostess products was really got me chuckling. Lol I do love hostess, especially when I bought the cupcakes even back in college since those were The cheapest snacks on campus.
Dry heat and the weather should be much cooler this time of year. Palm Springs gets a lot of Snowbirds/ Canadians this time of year.
I was wondering about that oops! I’m assuming I’m in the same generation as Jen’s mother (1958). I got my period at 11.
Omg just resubscribed! I’ve been watching you for years I can’t believe RUclips took me away. You’re making my morning great!
I still have the Neutrogena pen. I use it on acne spots.
I'm such a peasant that I thought Net-A-Porter was pronounced Net A Porter not Portay
Yeah! It's a spin on the phrase "prêt-à-porter", which means "ready-to-wear" fashion as opposed to being bespoke or couture. I felt super fancypants when I learned it. c:
Me too, and I actually thought it was an airport/airplane thing 😅
Like buying stuff from a catalogue when on the plane??
I SLEPT IN MY MAKE UP THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS LAUNCHED, i saw the commercial on elfs youtube i commented and they commented back the sinfluencer musta been whispering in my ear. Lol i told them its ok i got the melting balm and facewash and spf moisturizer ❤😂
I literally just finished watching your latest jc video and saw you uploaded again. So here i am again! ❤
I'm so glad Mingyu is being protected 🩵💗
That’s really interesting about the musk ambrette because it’s not out there as a scary ingredient. No one was scared of laundry detergent before!
As someone with warm undertones. I still like getting cool tone shadows. Cause I like mixing and matching.
I think the elf commercial is cute! Their ad campaigns always kill it and I do love that makeup remover! It’s the only one that’s been able to get me off the (must more expensive) Clinique Take the Day Off Balm
For the L’oréal story: I am very excited to see what they come out with!
The Mingyu thing is crazyyyy
For red light masks, a full face mask for $100 is almost never the right frequency and volume of lights and are nearly ineffective. Good masks typically run &400+. FWIW- I used to work at a spa years ago that used targeted blue light on acne
31:48 yes, pretty sure I am cool toned and will bypass anything combined with warm tones at this point. If I am going to do a warm tone then I go for small collection palettes like what Juvia’s Place or Colorpop put out.
Same❤
bruh after interacting with you (and Jen is a sweetheart offline) you make a video about nikkie, golloria and my idol mingyu? i love this episode already!!!!
Jen, Love your channel and all that you do for us beauty "geeks" Never would I ever think you could waste my time!❤
24:20 Haha I love the girl who plays the devil in the elf commercial, she plays the crazy secretary on Hacks
"It's a freakin Twinkie man" 😂😂😂
As far as the Nimya products go, I think it’s an interesting concept for acne *if* it has blue light and they disclose the specs of the device.
Cannot stress enough how flattering this hair/makeup is
It’s really refreshing to see a beauty content creator saying ‘I didn’t get x product because I already have something like it already’. Rather than just buying anything and everything regardless. It’s responsible and sensible! Just wanted to give you kudos for that, as a recent subscriber and watcher ❤
Musk ambrette is very common in perfumery. It is an alternative to animal musk. Musk ambrette has many other names when listed on other products like deodorant or detergents, etc.
jen your makeup looks sooooo amazing in this video. as soon as it came on i was like omg, i need to try and copy it for work today
The blouse you're wearing in this video is absolutely lovely! It looks so flattering on you and really adds a beautiful touch to your style.
I was asked to leave a store, me and my sister (both in our 30s) because they didn’t trust my Id and my sister forget her Id so I couldn’t buy a bottle of wine 😂
I was stopped another time because I forgot my id And my partner who’s younger than me, had to come to the store to buy it and wasn’t even asked!
I was 11 when I got my first period. It never occurred to me that it was unusual.
Same
It's not unusual. That is the normal age. This rhetoric is bs. All sex education states it as a normal age
@@darkydoom Alright. Be kind.
I was freaking 9 (in 1983) when I started and I was very self-conscious. I think I was the only one in my class
i don’t think that’s unusual. my mom got hers at 12. i was 13-14. however, i know a family whose daughter got hers around age 7. which is way too early.
Thank you so much for letting your references on the description for us to look
That UnEarthly pallet is exactly like the Urban Decay On The Run palette, which I am obsessed with!!!!!!
I was exhausted but I still double cleansed and used my moisturizer 😉
I watched Allie Dawson review the new Odens Eye eternal twilight collection and the eyeshadow palette is so gorgeous!!!
Good evening from small contry with big name, Bosnia and Hercegovina. Double sided tape for clothes is safe for skin, its usually acrylic glue
It amused me so much when you said your mother was born in the mid nineteenth century 😂 love you Jen
It's always nuts when my workplace pops up in the wild 😅 never expected NIEHS to be on this channel but it's cool to see!
I LOVE the Oden's eye palette. I don't own this one, but own others. Their quality is really good & so are their brushes! I mix warm & cool shadows frequently. Cool tone can tone down warmth &/or add depth & of course same for the warms, they add warmth &/or depth.
OMG I just noticed... I love the darker haircolor on you 🤩
Out of home means ads in a public setting like billboards, transit ads, etc
Love your content! Thanks for the updates❤
