      I remember best making the Matilda and Churchill with their fiddly wheels, the Bailey bridge you have there, Tiger and Panther, Shermans galore, the Quad 25pdr and 88 flak, the JS3(?) was tiny. I maybe confusing with rival Matchbox kits that were sold alongside.

    l,m 70 and grew up with Airfix kits . After years of building 1/35 scale models have returned to !/72 scale and am building the old classic Matchbox , Esci and Airfix AFV models l built as a kid . Happy memories buying these as a youngster with my pocket money . Love your collection Graham . These wonderful old kits have stood the test of time and are as impressive today as they were back in the 60's and 70's .

    Who else got all the overlapping wheels mixed up the first time they built a panther...; Airfix magazine or millitary modelling ran a series of articles on all the things you could convert the panzer IV into back in the day, at one point I had lots of spare turrets, then saw a photograph of a german armoured train with panzer IV turrets:- my first lesson in 'never throw anything away'.
    Wonder what will be next?... (ships.... or maybe 1/12 scale figures to go with the Bently....)....

    • @grahamhurst4613
      @grahamhurst4613  9 месяцев назад

      Oh the Panther! It was the glueing all the axles on even before all those wheels! Spare parts have saved many a project. As for the next project I do have helicopters and ships, but I am reading a book on airborne armour. Decisions….

      No need to be honored about anything I do. That´s the weird thing with this RUclips thing. We´re all just a bunch old blokes that still like these old toys. Some of us like you and me are nice enough to share them on RUclips and share our knowledge. I like the way you build these models in a more classic style with almost none of the newer weathering techniques that are cool but way to difficult and time consuming. Just enough to make them look nice and bring some life to them. I find that way of building and paint is the most enjoyable. I´ll look to you for some tips on what to get when I start building and collecting the scale models. Cheers

    These models are very nicely constructed and painted to a high standard, that much is apparent. I have two questions for you, though. I’ve never seen nor heard of the SA-2 kit. You say the mold was lost? Do you have anymore info about that? How does a mold get lost at a factory? Also, you mention the name of the”Essex” multiple times. Who or what is that and how does it relate to Airfix? Thank you for your video of these classic and marvelous kits and I would appreciate your answers if you have the time.

    • @grahamhurst4613
      @grahamhurst4613  9 месяцев назад

      I always make time. The word Essex must really be Airfix. I will have to blame my accent or the microphone! The Sam-2 Guideline missile is a mystery. A lot of Airfix moulds were taken to the Heller factory in France. I think when Humbrol owned the brands. The moulds were lost or damaged during the journey. I have made another video about the Sam 2 and Bloodhound missiles. Thank you for watching, taking the time to comment and the kind compliment

      Thank you. Very nice to hear from Latvia 🇱🇻 They are all old kits, some I built a long time ago, some are new builds, the Cold War vehicles. I still use Humbrol enamel paints and “old” methods. Glad to know you liked the collection. Thank you for your comment

    The original Panther had a ridicuously small gun on it, never got a second one so I don't know when they corrected it.

      @grahamhurst4613  8 месяцев назад

      I didn’t know that, unless you were unlucky and got a faulty one. The tricky part for me was all the separate axles! Still built them though because I like Panther tanks. Thanks for watching and for your comment

    Lovely set of models there. I always liked the WW1 Mark 1 tank, but it was only a few years ago, that I discovered that it wasn't correct, in several small ways. It's based on the mild steel prototype, called 'Mother', for one thing, and also, the name 'HMLS DRAGONFLY' is completely fictional. The 'cheesedish' shaped hatch on the top should not be there on a MK1, and neither should the exhaust pipe - the exhaust did come out of a hole on the top, but it was covered by a series of overlapping louvres. The steering trailer was a cumbersome nuisance, and very often removed in the field.
    Don't get me wrong, it's a nice kit, and looks good alongside the EMHAR Mk IV.

      I liked the Airfix WW1 tank, I didn’t know about the inaccuracies. I had heard that the steering wheels soon got removed. The Emhar kits are great and include a Whippet and the German A7V. Glad you liked the video it was enjoyable to build all the military kits. Really appreciate your comments and support

      Most of their kits have errors. The largest one is the Sdkfz which is famous for the kit having two mudguards over each set of two wheels, each side, when the real thing had a single mudguard over all four wheels. Egregious error that was a deliberate choice so that the mould layouts would be easier.

    Does airfix do any 1:87 scale models?

    Доброго дня это масштаб 1:100 ?

    • @grahamhurst4613
      @grahamhurst4613  8 месяцев назад

      The scale is 1/76. The figures are 20mm high. Airfix produced these model kits from 1960 to 1980 many are still available in shops to buy today. Airfix list them as vintage classics. Thank you for your interest

      @@grahamhurst4613 Понятно, очень классные модели, я просто выбрал для себя масштаб 1:100 и интересуюсь кто еще делает модели техники и фигурок в этом масштабе Airfix молодцы такое сейчас мало кто делает в не больших масштабах. Спасибо вам большое за ответ.

    The models are 1/72. OO is 16.5mm railway track gauge with 1/76 (4.00 mm to the foot) scale. HO is 16.5 mm track gauge gauge with 1/87 (3.5mm to the foot) scale, more accurately proportional than OO. Your heading is drivel! Why post inaccurate information?

      Usually I would say thank you for the information you have added. The information is from the catalogue and from the boxes. My channel is about enjoying seeing these vintage models and enjoying a bit of nostalgia. It would have been nice if you explained the scales without being derogatory

      I agree with you completely Graham. The comment was unnecessarily derogatory and mean spirited. I enjoyed admiring your models and listening to your commentary. I too have built many of these kits over the years and have a collection which I am very proud of. I am currently building the Scammell tank transporter and you are correct in saying that it is a difficult kit to get right. Keep enjoying the hobby and posting more nostalgic videos like this one for us to enjoy. All the best from Down Under here in Australia.🙂@@grahamhurst4613
