Hi, can you tell me if the new 2024 SLX 70A if the frame is smaller than the SLX MGL 70? I've been trying to find out and seems that I can't get a straight answer.
@@LakeProTackle, sounds like not much of an upgrade over the MGL 70, which I own. I was hoping for a smaller frame for the 2024 SLX 70A. No reason to upgrade and get this reel for me.
That SLX lineup may be the best "Budget" reel series on the market. I don't think there is a reel out there that can beat it for the price point. If you're on the fence, get with Lake Pro and order one! You will not be disappointed! The only exception would be for the bougie gear nerds. If you are already fishing Metaniums, Zillions, or a Steeze reel, don't expect it to be that because it's not. While it is definitely not as refined as a $3-500 reel, they absolutely get the job done, and the average dude will be served well with them!
i ordered a SLX70A im wonder what rod to get, mostly light fishing like pan fish. hoping to not have to spend more on the rod than the reel. first baitcaster for me. im super excited to try it out
I have a new SLX 70A and love it! Cast baits far far far. Quite Adjustable. Yes I’ve used 1/2 oz Chatterbait’s with trailer and it’s worked just fine for me.

The frames are almost exactly the same. The new one does have a shiny coating on the outside that makes it look smaller.

Which one should I get the new SLX 70 or the 2021 Curado 70 MGL? I can get them for the same price.
Curado!!

Yup. I've got a bunch of SLXs and Curados. That SLX is an incredible reel for the price.
Can the mgl handle 1 oz bait? Want it for chatterbait rod
It can but it is at the upper limits of its capabilities
MGL 3 Spool is the reason to get this IMO. I got one casted as well as my Metaniums bantams etc. All that tech makes its way down

I would suggest a Dobyns Sierra 691 for panfish and bass

Awesome!
Looking forward to the testing 👍
I've seen a lot of people in market place selling these in cheaper price I'm hesitating to buy one, but its tempting to buy one 😅
most of them are the older models. I am confident you will be happier with a new one
I can't afford shimano reels 😢
