    love it, got the last gen for $100 shipped a month ago from japan. Unreal value! I have it paired it with a M Tatula xt and pretty much all my treble hook lures get thrown on it now. Tried a light weight rooster tail for fun on the 1st cast and couldn't believe the distance I got on it.

    I have one SLX reel and i love it cant wait to pick up another one that MGL70 looks slick and has to feel really nice in hand.

    That SLX 70 is a great reel, it’s my topwater reel. I really think the Tranx 150 is so underrated. You can throw a weightless senko to 4oz swimbait. That reel is bulletproof, definitely best bang for the buck. IMO. Thanks Debo!!

      Finally someone else said it! The tranx is an awesome reel, outperformed my curado mgl 151.

      The tranx 150 was amazing. Once I upgraded the bearings to better ones. I could absolutely send a quarter oz swimbait and even fish 3oz glide baits comfortably

      @@charlie910 it's also 1 of shimanos better looking reels. I put a 100mm gomexus handle and drag star on mine. Looks dope

    Hey Debo.. another Great video !! I got my first Shimano this past summer !! Picked a 19 Scorpion MGL 151 from Japan, cheaper ($128) than a Curado and more bearings (7+1) than the SLX. Because of the 150 size spool, I only loaded it halfway with 10# mono, (looking for a 70 size spool) I am totally blown away at how well it casts light lures (3 grams & up), put it on a 6' 10" Fenwick Techna PX med/light/fast rod (Killer Combo !!) having quite a few Daiwa's , I may have to p/u another Shimano just for fun !! the SLX is intriguing me !! Keep up the great work Brother !!

    Couldn’t agree with you more the whole slx lineup you can not go wrong with I recommend it to everyone specially if it’s their first baitcaster. I haven’t tried the new one but even the xt is right there at the top

    The smoothest Reel I’ve ever owned was the basic SLX and it was jacked out of my Truck lol but I’m hoping to get another one next year. The 70 looks perfect though.

    Such a great reel. It’s on my 6’10” do all 12 to 14 lb line rod. I throw everything on it. Finesse jigs, underspins, chatterbaits, lipless etc. I love the ease of casting for pitching. Barely need to flick the wrist to get the lure going.

    Ill be picking one or 2 of these new units up . I have the previous gen slx mgl 70 and its been one of my favorite reels. Casts a mile, super smooth and fits perfectly in hand.😎

    I spool mine with 10lb flouro in the winter for jerkbaits and keep 12lb on it during the warmer months and use it for finesse jigs. Thing is a dream!

    Debo, have I got a story for y’all. I won’t go into the long story, but the day started with going to buy a MGL 70 on clearance. Major shout out to 2 of our local Academy’s (neither had the reel even though both showed it in stock), because after an hour of driving (& an empty box) I now own a new Diawa Tatula 70 SV TW for less than $100!
    One day I’ll get a SLX 70, til then I think I’m fine.

    Its a really nice reel, First time I tried mine, I put one breake on, on the spool and had a hard time not backlashing, two breakes on and up to three, then it was better, so centrifugal only is not for first time baitcaster people, thats my 10C. My Daiwas (Tatula and Alphas) is just so much moore forgiving casting, in windy condition, I put away my SLX and put on one of my Daiwas. But, regardless I love the little SLX, Its always with me on my fishing trips. It feels really solid in hand and the feeling of quality is stellar for a "budget" Shimano. Happy Fishing!

    Thanks for the review sir. I've heard that is a good reel, while others say that the slx xt is the best slx reel. Personally, I love my slx dc. It casts a country mile, and of course the back lash issue is minimized. Can't say it goes away completely. ✌

    I have the older 70, and I like it. Haven't put in enough time to really give it the beans, but it throws hard plastics lures really well, especially in the wind. It does feel a touch small in the hand, but that's irrelevant. I did put a longer handle on it after I upgraded on the slx dc I used it for the 70, then it's perfect.

    I really wish they'd come out with a 200 and 300 series in the SLX... I use mostly the Curado and Curado with the MGL spool in it but I like to keep a few extra reels with different size line or in different gear ratios in my boat so I can make a change if I need to wothout having to respool. I've used a SLX150 on one of my punching rods just to see if it would hold up to 60lb braid and a 7'9" extra heavy extra fast and it's lasted 2 years which is kind of impressive so I bought a few more but would love to have a few in a bigger size... Come on Shimano make it happen!!!

  • @blind_eye_fishing
    @blind_eye_fishing 2 месяца назад +1

    Yes all the slx line is built on the same frame in a 150 size frame. Don't think they added anything but the silent tune on the new 70 mgl and the regular slx. Love the older mgl 70 and slx xt.

    • @blind_eye_fishing
      @blind_eye_fishing 2 месяца назад

      Oh and I set my internal breaks at 2 or 3 and never touch them again lol. Do all my adjustments with the fine tune outer adjustment. And I do throw 1/8th oz jig heads with paddletails on that reel. 70 and 80 size reels can usually do that low with the right rod. It won't drop below like 3.5 or 4g. Generally best at 5g and up though.
      As far as handle idc because I upgrade all my handles and knobs anyway lol. I use two or three different brands including gomexus.

    Hey Debo, great review man! Another thing I do like about the shallow spool is that you don’t have to fiddle around with putting backing on them & yes I agree small reel handles suck 👊

    The Tatula sv has been my favorite so far. But I do agree this slx is really good. I'm a kayak fisherman and one con. I guess I can say is that it's not very forgiving when I have to do an awkward cast. That tends to give me a backlash

    I prefer the SLX 70 over the Curado MGL 150. I have several Daiwa reels like the older Daiwa Tatula SV 100’s (2020), the new Tatula SV 100. One Daiwa I have I really like is the Tatula 70 and I don’t see many reviews on it. When I am bank fishing just slinging the lures I prefer the Shimano’s. Fishing in a boat or casting in the wind I prefer the Daiwa. I’m personally more accurate with the Daiwas and they are way less finicky.

    I don’t know if I got a lemon or what, but I have the original SLX 70 and I was so impressed that a year or so later I bought another one (SLX 70 A). The 70 A DOES NOT cast as well as the first. Exact same settings, exact same line and I’m just not getting the same distance. I’m starting to suspect that the the 70 A has cheaper bearings so they could keep the price the same without adjusting for this ridiculous inflation we’re experiencing

    • @DEBOSFishing
