    I'm really enjoying these videos and I'd love to see you do some flameless candles and wax melts too.
    This particular submission was really very well presented!! I was totally impressed by the packaging etc with the exception of the label. The writing was way too small and much too low on the sticker. The font should be significantly bigger with a bold font and the logo much bigger with the scent on the front of the label. I guess she wanted to have a mass produced label to cut costs but design it with a space to add the scent on the front. As a customer, I would not want to have to go looking for it. Otherwise the presentation was really nice!! Thank you so much for sharing your products and Wade for your honest opinions on them. Your advice is so helpful for us newbies in the beginner research mode!! 👍

    Thank you for doing these great educational videos. It sure helps for newbies that are unsure and questioning everything. QUESTION. Are wood wicks suppose to flicker more then cotton wicks? I'm testing new wood wicks from a well known company and it lights great but flickers I feel more. I know with cotton wicks, people say that the size could be the issue. TY

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  Год назад +1

      There really isn't a hard set answer on this. Just depends. Too many factors. FOs also contribute to flickering sizez jar shape jar size, drafts, etc.
      My shiort answer in general. Cotton wicks are more consistent.

  • @MakeupMobster
    @MakeupMobster Год назад +1

    As a graphic artist myself, I don’t personally see an issue with the font. I think the problem is it’s too small. Use the real estate on the jar. I’d enlarge everything and delete the box that the name of the company is in. That will allow you to enlarge the font and keep with the minimalist look. I’d maybe replace the box with a line in between the words. I’d bump up the size of the bee cuz I like it and then it would look a lot better. If you’re going to go with a condensed look, change the label to a wider label and allow the candle to be seen above and below. Make a shorter, wrap around or half wrap label.

      @BlackTieBarn  2 года назад

      Hey Chris. Yes you can. There is risk of course in losing any brand awareness and momentum you may have gained but it's just deciding if thst risk is worth it. There are many companies that actually use temporary names or brand for purposes of testing products, marketing strategies, and ad campaigns. Then they launch a new brand based off their testing.

    I'm interested in making unique candles and tarts , been making them about 20 years, but not necessarily selling. I like adding embeds and glitter. Everyone makes normal plain ones and I think embeds help pull what we create better and tells the story of the design. Have you ever used them or glitter? MY QUESTION IS would i save money (just for me i DONT WANT A BUSINESS. I have lupus so I couldn’t even advertise much less package & mail out in a rural community in the extreme south MS. Would i save alot of money making my own. I can reuse my own blue cobalt glass jars? I pay 8 to 10 dollars for them now. I only like one wood wick that’s it. So that’s about a few pounds of soy wax and Wood wicks could I make them for less than say 3 per candle that does burn 33 to 40 hrs per candle. Thats 30$ per month on candles. So would i save at least half just for myself & reuse my own jars NO LABLELS ?? Anyone care to be honest with me?

      You definitely can save money by making candles dor yourself. But it depends on the kind of candles, where you get your products, what type of bulk your buying for your materials. And factor in your time. So.... as safe as it might be of an answer, it's also an honest one. It just depends.

    Hello, I have a semi-insulated outhouse which I plan to use as a workshop to heat and pour my candles, but it gets cold in the winter. Would I need to fully insulate it to ensure that they set right? Or just have an electric heater in there while I pour? (as insulating would be expensive). I have a room in my house to store the candles after they are poured. I don't know if it would disturb them if I were to pour them in the outhouse and then carry them inside. I wanted to do the messy stuff in the outhouse to avoid wax particles and spillage in the house. I hope this makes sense! In summary, do I need to fully insulate my work room if I am only using it as a melting/pouring room and not as a place for them to set?
    Thanks .

      Im battling a similar issue, my house is not insulated so when its hot its really warm in the house and when its cold its really cold. I am going to have to invest in a room AC/heating window unit to help keep the room at the desirable temp. I understand where you are coming from and it sucks cause i am in the wick testing phase of my candle journey and was on a test until this heat wave in Cali started to hit and now I am at a stand still but working on fragrance oil blends in the mean time. Good luck

      @@golfnfts2607 Hi, I'm in England so it's no where near as hot/cold (or interesting) as California but I will still be investing in wool clothes this winter! There are lots of DIY insulation videos on here so I'm thinking about that. I am told that it has to be room temperature for pouring, but a heat gun on the jars combined with an electric heater by the work table might be OK. I haven't tried any yet; still buying equipment. As for the summer, fans and keeping sunlight out I suppose. Working in the evening or at night might help you keep cool? Good luck!

      I recommend getting one of those chef's conical controlled pouring contraptions. I don't recall if he ever geatured one, but check out Memory Box Candles channel for a review. It will make your pouring much easier. I don't recommend pouring and then moving from an outbuilding because this would be a pain yo try and maintain a clean poiur with no wax up the side of the vessel. Plus you risk spilling and/or injury.

      @@AtomicElf1 Thanks for the advice, I see what you mean about transporting them. I have a piston funnel, they are indeed great for the job. My problem is the room temperature, as my outhouse has half of its (external) walls uninsulated and it is costly to insulate. But I suppose I must have it done if I have to let them set there. Even though I can move them indoors after setting, it will be too cool in the outhouse while setting.
