Rangers are built pretty well but their bottoms are kind of flat and can beat you pretty good when they slap the water in rough conditions. Best riding rough water boats I have been in are Champion, Charger, Legend, and Phoenix. Skeeter did pretty good as well. But I got beat pretty good in Ranger
Legends are good. You got a good boat. Has good characteristics of all worlds. Let me know how soft it rides in the rough stuff when you encounter it for the first time. ZX250 is just a good all around boat.
Right now the skill of the driver has everything to do with it...plus we've had loads of rain and have the biggest trees floatin down river so when runnin it has been rough...i tend to like a good chop....been plenty of times ive ran comfortably at 60mph + on a good chop
You seem like a pretty good driver. Let me know how soft it hits in 3 foot or more white caps as well as rollers. I drove a ZX20 when they were being made and it had a much better ride than I expected in some pretty rough stuff.
BeyondTheBounds man that Z21 is practically brand new, it sat in storage for 10 years, had only 9.1 hours on it. Yes 9.1 not 91 hours. Granted I had to give it a major cleaning and fix some of the compartment hinges but it was well worth it. And I got it for much less than what it was listed for. Worth the 6 hr drive to snatch it up. And it runs and handles great,im very happy with it
Good video bud, I feel like I'm learning some good info from you. Realistically I'm a year or two off from being able to afford my first bass boat but your videos are giving me great insight to the process. I've definitely got boat fever!
We just bought our new Phoenix 21 PHX from Sean Wieda.... what a great guy and a great dealership! I highly recommend Wieda's Marine for your next boat, as well!
definitely a great guy! i really enjoyed the whole process of buying there, and richie my salesman has always responded to my texts even after the sale...that speaks to character right there
BBC definitely helped me in my boat inspection process. I feel your pain about the availability of bass boats. Bass fishing in central MN is almost unheard of (the fishing is great because of it) I purchased an older boat that I could pay cash for (not that I am against borrowing money for one, it just wasn't in my cards atm) but I am a mechanic by trade so fixing an older structurally sound boat wasn't a concern. But I had my boat land in my lap at a price point I couldn't pass up. Love your videos!
Great video Lou, l purchased a 2005 Skeeter about six months ago, wish I would seen this before, I didn’t realize the options I had, I would much rather had a new one
I did not test drive them. I trust the long standing reputation of most brands. Ranger is pretty much the standard for rough water according to most people along with bass cat......Best anglers in the world all use ranger, skeeter, triton, phoenix, nitro I knew I wasn't gonna find certain brands in my price point and wasn't buyin a 3 year old ranger at 50k when my brand new skeeter was priced close to that. My skeeter has never chine walked. I'm hoping to get a chance to ride in some different brands during my BFLs....so far...only skeeters haha.
New Bass Boats is a bad financial decision of big time depreciation. I would not recommend it to anyone unless your wealthy and can absorb the cost factor.
I just had a thought. You and 1rod1reel are not that far from one another. Why don’t you send him an email inviting him to come fish with you or you go there and fish with him? Would be a good collaboration video imo.
Just want to look as cool as you do whether I catch fish or not. You are going to have to do a fishing wardrobe video. Lol. Want are some of the Facebook sites you used?
Thanks for these sites I’ll soon be in the market to buy my first boat looking for a pontoon for bay fishing and family excursions. Is there any sites out there that tell you approximately what a boats price range should be around kind of like the blue book for cars?
When I was looking for my first bass boat in 2015, I went on that bass boat central and looked around but didn't realize their was a way to communicate with anyone on their, sorry you ran into trolls on their, some people think they know it all, I ended up driving all over Arkansas looking at basscats and never could find anything in decent shape I only had about 13 grand to spend so it made it difficult to find something reliable and nice looking, ultimately I ended up making a poor decision because I bought a boat that's way too small, the boat was in excellent condition & had been kept in storage but 18 ft boat is just too small, so hopefully this fall when I get some money that's owed to me I'm planning on looking again & this time I'm going to wait and get it done the right way! The Cobra Viper is a good boat and that hull handle's rough water extremely well, but they just don't make Cobra anymore, so with any luck this time I'll find that Basscat that I've been dreaming of!!! So finally to the end of this really long comment I say this , that your video is way more important than people realize, it us difficult to get it right when buying a used boat and can be a little easier when buying new because you don't have the condition of the boat to worry about as much.
I never got trolled there...matter of fact everyone was nice and polite to me....but a lot of owners in several categories trucks, boats, kayak, real estate all want to think their decision is the best and if you disagree...then you are wrong..i know of the remorse you are talking about, i did so with several purchases and swore i wouldnt with my boat.

Great video man, the Ranger I purchased was in this video. Its the Z21 that was in Lorten Virginia that you had your cursor on
Thats awesome i wondered if anybody would recognize a boat

Thanks for the honesty
Did you test drive any boats before you bought yours? If so which one had had the softest ride in rough water?

You are right on

For my first boat I wanna get a aluminum center console because fiber glass boats are not in my price range
Completely understand that! Runnin a glass rig gets expensive if i wad just getting started i would be doing the same
SmartMarine probably better .. . .

VH F hahaha brother that's like a $10 shirt from wal mart!
Lol.

Boat's are way over priced they cost has much as a house .
That they do
