We spent ages puzzled and unable to open our new switch, we're from the UK living in France and the electrics are strange to us. Thanks to your video we have finally managed to open the new switch, thank you, you're a life saver. :-))

For people in the UK finding this video, this is how our large light switch came off. I did not expect the switch itself to be the thing that levers off with a straight/flathead screwdriver. American large switches seem to come off by removing the switch surround first.

Thanks for that! Couldn't figure out how to remove the rocker button (I thought I'd damage it if I did what you did, I see now that it is the right procedure).

brilliant thanks - we are from UK living in Spain - the switches are a mystery - But re-trying as per the video - its still impossible to poke the braided wires into the holes - inside they have a "one-way" grab - so that you push the wires in, but they wont come out. The problem is that the grabs are too tight to push the copper wires in - so what you can do is to poke a nail into the adjacent hole - which opens up the grab, poke the wire in next-door, then remove the nail - it makes an impossible job very easy. The little black tags = I cant work out if they actually do anything at all - they dont seem to - and just fall out !
