Is there a simple way to test them prior to leaving the dock?

What is it that make these so great, other than "someone said so" ? How do you clean them and maintain them?

They are sealed really well keeping water out of the electronics and as a result they last a long time. The float design prevents debris in the bilge from interfering with the float since it is self contained. The float also doesnt clog. And it wont get stuck and burn your pump out. And I like the light on the top to let me know it is working before I leave the dock. Mine are 3 years old and no issues. No reason they cant last 15 years.

@@Carolina-cb7zt Awesome! Thanks for the update! I'm rebuilding a boat from pretty much scratch and trying to find the best/right components the first time around, learning from others experiences.

Mine are 21 years old and still work fine. I never had one of those cheap switches last more than a couple of years.

Great Video, thanks! How high does the float have to go before the pump turn on? I'm concerned it will take much more water in the bilge than a typical crappy float switch to turn on.

A few inches. But they make a junior model that comes on sooner. They recommend that for smaller bilges.

How do you test these to make sure they are working?? Thanks

@@seanflanagan7668 There is a green light on the top to let you know it is working. If you dont trust it, loosen the retention clamp and tip it over and the float will move and it will turn on.

Looking to buy these, how are they holding up? Previous boat owner had basically bare twisted on cable ends in duct tape. No crimps or anything , go figure 🤦‍♂️

Great so far, had them for a couple seasons. I know some people have gotten 10+ years out of them.

I found 3 of these Ultra Senior regular bilge pump switches and a 4th for one for a small sump pump, and today found a 5th one INSIDE the 15 gallon Grey water tank. 46 Bertram, 1995. 29 years old if their original as I suspect they are. Previous boat had those shit Rule Switches that were always going bad. Typical made in China crap. Lets hope their used in all the Chinese Navy ships.
