    Heavy taxation is reason for less profit..over a period of time, foreign companies could not break even.. so ran into huge losses. Apart from this, earlier a car was into production cycle for 12 years, till it was replaced by a newer model.. but now consumer taste and buying power has changed.. now if dont give new launches every year, u cant survive. This is main reason for foreign companies fall in sales

    More than 90+% Cars are sold in Cities. And due chaotic Bumper to bumper City traffic the average speed is less than 10 kmph. Most of Cars are used for City commuting from point A to B. Hence fun to drive big cars are not worth it, so efficiency & reasonable cabin space for weekend family travel is our basic requirement. At 10-15 kmph in City driving, priority is efficiency & than Safety, so people tend to compromise on Safety over Efficiency.
    More than 60-70% buys for Status in Society & rest for convenience.
    When we compare to US & European countries people have to travel long distance everyday for job etc.... Hence they need those big, powered CARS. Which is just the opposite to our Indian City requirements.

      जरा सोच तू अपनी गाड़ी आराम से, धीरे - धीरे, बचा - बचा कर चला रहा है लेकिन कोई सरफिरा या छपरी type का आदमी जबरदस्ती तेरी कार को speed में ठोक दिया तो
      और अगर तू फैमिली और बच्चों के साथ हुआ तो
      लेने के देने पड़ जाएंगे
      आज कल ऐसे पागलों की कोई कमी नहीं है India में

      Middle class people prefer car only
      1)when whole(mostly more than two) family goes out...
      2) to travel hometown(mostly people settle in big cities but often travel to their hometowns during festivals)
      For 2nd point safety is must for a car( if you don't agree, check the data of accident deaths in India)

    Corruption of police is an issues too in india, if state police sees any other state’s registration plate, they harassed and charge you in anyway, and then people thinks twice before traveling interstate in india with their own car unlike other country

      New MVI rule are also killer one. It has created a new panic while driving four wheeler. Any mistake in driving , parking or any other human error like pollution loss can cause thousands of rupees penalty with stresses.

      Weird tax structure is responsible,4 lakh ki milnewwi car gst weird tax ki vajahse 6.50 lakh tak jati hain, thoda study karke comment kar.
      That is why companies are leaving india, also decreased sales due to inflation and unemployment.

    Bhai ford cars were mainly performance oriented with fantastic mileage, the main problems with ford is they didn't gave any fancy feature in there cars, the marketing of their cars is nowhere as compared to other cars, they have only 4 cars in india where as maruti, hyundai and tata have cars in every price segment and in terms of service and maintenance cost they were cheap to maintain than most of the brands
    If they would you launched a creta, harrier rival, discontinued figo and launced a new vehicle in lower segment like kwid, tiago rival, and make the freestyle as premium hatchback then fortune of ford might have been changed
    So the portfolio were looked like this:-
    New ford car - Kwid/tiago rival with 1200 cc engine
    Ford Freestyle and Aspire as premium hatchback / compact sedan - i20/amaze rival
    Ford Ecosport - the compact SUV segment king
    Ford Territory - Creta/harrier rival
    Ford Endeavor - the Undisputed king

    If stricter safety norms are implied, like a minimum of 4 stars, more than 50% of Maruti cars will be disqualified. But Indians are only after cheap & mileage oriented cars

    But from my observation, India is not alone, the GM left Europe too after selling Opel to the PSA group. Ford still sells cars in Europe but it is evident that Ford is struggling. They only enjoy big success in the UK and Ireland.
    As for India, I was always aware of local competitors like that of TATA, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki (they offered cheap cars, something the American competitors couldn't do). Toyota is the only foreign brand that enjoy BIG success, especially with the Innova and Fortuner. Even here in Europe they're putting a good competition against the Volkswagen Group.

    Used work in ford service n sales,no wonder product was good but they were selling only 6-7 models. Recently Freestyle model were having 4 but it had cut down to 2 models titanium n titanium + . Titanium feature were almost same as base model in 2020 model. I think they were selling dis 2 model from 2020. My brother-in-law is having Freestyle titanium 2018 model it has same features like 2020 titanium + model. They hv reduce the feature of the titanium model like Ambentte or trend model but the price was more as compare to 2018 Freestyle titanium model. This one of reason they hv failed to deliver the demand of Indian consumer.

    Toyota states they won't exit India, but won't scale up either as high tax makes it difficult to build scale. Toyota Motor Corp, one of the world's largest automakers which commenced operations in India in 1997; is NOT going to expand further.

    Ford Fiesta was my best experience out of 6 deferent models of deferent make since 25 years of driving experience. in safety , milage, zero Mantanence during 1.23 lakh km . Only minus point are , very much hard to operate in clutch , steering , breaks , this may be its drawback . Zero Mantanence is the most important point .

Customer toh apna fayda dekhega na jo sasta hai wohi kharidega. Aur last me Indian roads ki quality Aaj v bhut kharab hai 100BHP se jyada ki car koi kharidta hai toh uski power waste hi hai. Par America me Ford Mustang American muscle 1950s-60s me 400BHP power ka gaadi nikalta tha. Ford ne Indian market aur Indian logo ki psychology ko thik se nhi samajh paya. I agree on this par govt ki policy v bhut kharab hai Excise, GST, Insurance, Chalan, Fuel, mandatory addition of unnecessary features have became very expensive. Customer ke jeb par asar padh rha hai. Toyota ki baat kar rhe ho Toyota kam profits me v survive kar rhi hai. Ford america me hi bhut pesa kama leta hai. Toh profits compare karega toh America se profit ke comparison me India se profit bhut less hota hai. Mujhe toh lagta hai kuch saalo baad Indian roads pe Mercedes BMW v nhi dikhengi

    Metros, local trains. Buses, cabs rapidos all are there to get ride in low cost!

    Ancillary cost of Insurance and Maintenance charges affect Indian sentiment. Low rise of income as well as small family pushes Indian customer to go for low priced cars like Brezza, Baleno Or Hyundai Creta. Plus high cost of fuel also affecting Indian customers.

    Tata has definately imroved there cars quality, looks, safety nd fature but they still lack heavily on number of authorized service centre..its creates back log on every workshop which impacts quality of service...gaadi bahut bech le but no if they dont improve on service will learn in a hard way...

    Main reason is that all riches are shifting from general population to richer population whose no. are lesser. So the car sell is not increasing. As an assumption about 90% of India's wealth is with less than 10% people only.

    As a consumer agar mere se sawal kiya jaye ki main konsi car lena prefer karunga toh first of all mujhe company koi v chalegi but usme safety features compulsory chahiye hi chahiye aur sirf 6 ya 4 airbags hone se kaam nhi chalega humein strong frame wali vehicle chahiye hogi.. Rahi baat features ki toh kuch jyada khaas naa v ho toh koi baat nhi atleast AC, power steering, windows toh rahengi hi aur bas music system, GPs system, nd good braking system hi kaafi h. We don't even need sunroof nd all kyunki ye sirf show off ki chiz hai. Nd after all rahi price ki baat toh main middle class guy hoon toh 10-20 lakhs bohot ho gye usse jyada befizul kharch hogi apne liye

      When we talk about buying a car then we say made in India is best, but when look to work with a company then we always say Google, IBM, FB, Adobe etc. very sad... in my opinion we should value the quality and it should not be restricted by borders.

    Govt mentioned state compensation cess will be for 5 years on cars but then this amount is extended forever is the problem... Also Cess is generally 1 or 2 percent whereas 22 percent cess is too inappropriate...

    Maruti Japanese, Hyundai Korean, both foreign companies successfully operating in India with many successful models. Why others fail? It's their own fault.

      Only for name, they are foreign companies, but they are making Indian standard cars, which is little bit higher than Indian companies and less than foreign companies, for safety measures, this cars are not of high quality, these are medium quality cars

      @@spsabouttravel They know what people wants and creates product accordingly. If foreign companies introduce similar cars to compete with Maruti and Hyundai they have a chance. But if they want to sell their "Quality" car at higher prices and people are not interested in it, they can't blame people for not choosing it.

      @@uBarot high price because of heavy tax by government, government don’t want people to get good things, they want people to live with poor facility and poor quality life, buddy at least u visit one developed country like USA Canada Australia uk aur any European country, then u will realise how poor quality life our people are living compared to them, lots of pollution, dusty and dirty third class and quality less roads, in whole India even not a single road which can be comparable to developed country, developed country gives their people a happy and comfortable life and here the corrupt politicians give third world facility to people, india will never be like foreign developed countries due to high corruption and people’s unawakened minds towards real developed

      @@spsabouttravel 🤣You assume too much, I have visited 8 countries including UK. Which developed country provides their people a happy and comfortable life?. You have to work for such life all around the world. Government wants them to make the cars in India so that people get jobs. If the taxes are removed, you would find cheap Chinese cars taking over India and then you will cry about government not taking actions against such poor quality cars. Can't argue any more.

    What is endearing is, Indians have found out that using efficient public transport is the key to peace in life!
    As public transport increases, we will see this trend even more.
    We have been "wired" differently. We will lead the way
    Take Mumbai for example. The city moves on public transport .
    Notice too, that the accident rate in the city in proportion to traffic is really low. Why? Because, most drivers are those who use it as a "profession" rather that recreation.
    My take on this is, there should be a catagory which limits the performance of personal transport with the "use" intended.

    Those car manufacturer company left India due to lack of after sale service. Car companies have to provide after sale service like Maruti and Hyundai do.
