Yeah, the fact it had acclaimed Hollywood director Robert Rodriguez and Mark Burnett, who created and produced the biggest reality TV shows at the helm as well made it the best looking wrestling show in history.
i don't know if i would be a wrestling fan today if it wasn't for LU wwe sucked... tna lost it's edge... then LU came around and i remembered why i was a wrestling fan in the beginning... i really miss it...
I miss Lucha Underground so much. Was such a great show. It reminded me a lot of the WMAC Masters show from the 90’s. I think more shows like those need to come back.
Lucha Underground was the best thing to happen to wrestling in a long time. It's a shame that such a great thing was gone before it reached its full potential.
I thought so too. The show made so many stars including Killshot, and brought me back into wrestling after for sure. All the supernatural stuff that would normally be hokey anywhere else was perfect there.
I felt Killshot as a former military sniper being part of the character really helped with fleshing out the character. It really added to him so good job to Swerve for adding that
Lucha Underground was the best thing. It was what really turned me into a wrestling fan. So tragic that it was brought down by executive meddling and shoddy backstage management, rather than any of the usual things that cause shows to peter out. And it MADE Swerve Strickland as Killshot. Like he said here, the WMD match against Marty and the Hell of War match against Fox bookended season 3 and those two made him a top name (seriously, before Swerve vs Hangman the Hell of War match was the most insane hardcore thing I'd ever seen). You can tell Tony Khan was a huge LU fan as well because he brought in as many stars from it as he could- Swerve, Fox, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, the Lucha Bros, Cage, Johnny Mundo, Taya, Ivelisse, Angelico, Chavo Guerrero Jr, Sonny Kiss, he has Willie Mack in ROH, he brings in Jeff Cobb from NJPW whenever he can, he even had Marty the Moth show up on Dark a couple of times.
I'm not convinced that Tony was that big of an LU fan, because he hasn't really tried to do much in that format at all. I recall only one vignette in that style when they made Penta Dark on AEW. The announcers didn't even mention Marty was a former world champion when he debuted on AEW Dark. Lots of other reasons I don't think Tony was that big on LU, but he's prob a fan to some degree. I like that he gives a lot of them screen time though. I honestly think if he was a big LU fan, after all this time AEW has been around, he would've put the world or TNT title on someone like Penta.
That’s why I loved Lucha underground, everyone one was a cartoon character super hero or villain, it was cool to see established stars become a different persona
Lucha Underground was mad underrated, and it was just the right thing for some Wrestlers character wise. For example Johnny Mundo will forever be the best version, just because his character was so fitting for the insane wrestling he did there.
Lucha Underground was amazing every episode was something special one episode of Lucha was greater than other wrestling TV shows I miss lucha underground ❤❤ killshot vs AR Fox was amazing
I always say Lucha Underground is the best wrestling show I've ever seen. I use it to introduce people into wrestling to this day. It even has one of my All-Time Favorite wrestling matches: Killshot vs Dante Fox
I always told my friends LU is if you mixed Mortal Kombat and WWE. I got to go to so many shows live and it truly was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
I instantly knew Swerve was from LU. To see him in the ring with AR Foxx again was great for me. Gosh I wish Prince Puma would've translated well outside of the company. I would stay up until 2am during COVID just to catch replays of LU.
Lucha Underground is unrepeatable. never seen anything like that in over 40 years of watching Pro Wrestling Entertainment. I really miss that promotion. It was unique, fun to watch, with characters intriguing as hell with absolute top tier commentary as well _{huge Vampiro fan here... I wish he joined Penta there and I commented a lot of AEW videos making the call, so to speak, hoping Tony Kahn was gonna bring him in. The same I did about Ricochet in WWE to get his mask back at least in his own entrances to the ring!}..._ everything was absolutely perfect. At that time LU overshadowed WWE for me, the only WWE stuff I was keeping an eye on was NXT in its black&gold era but nothing was like it, nothing could or can still today compare to Lucha Underground! Besides... the Temple had the hottest announcer ever, Melissa Santos! Her talent, her flair and presence always got me... literally had a crash on her, sorry Cage 😅
Absolutely. I wish they made him turn heel now and make him appear out of nowhere in a dark version of Prince Puma, eventually joining Santos Escobar... let's imagine Santos Escobar reaction seeing him... there are so many plots they could build on that. I really believe that would be insanely good, explosive l just like Ricochet moves!@@govardhanposina17
To see him so humble and say cant springboard as good as aerostar, not as smooth as ricochet not as strong as cage didnt look like jon morrison i mean hes right and thats great compliments to all those guys but let me say this No one has the swagger of killshot or swerve strickland, this guy just has superstar charisma just walking to the ring with a grin he walks like hes all that cause he is, and he has the cadence that puts him above alot he can carry his own on every facet of wrestling dont @ Me I didnt need to see the deathmatch with page to know this been saying it for years, wwe knew swerve was the man but it woulda been hard to make him a top guy without dropping him in a group which i didnt think he really needs, but hes doing well for himself elsewhere
Killshot (swerve) prince puma (ricochet) and rey fenix were my absolutel favorites in LU that hell of war which is basically 3 stages of hell with swerve vs ar fox was absolute banger of a match
@tonyalmeida8231 I liked cuerno moves didnt care so much for his character, didn't no at the time but that guy is pretty cool in wwe as Santos and I loved morrison wherever he's at hes awesome
LU was probably the only place you could see, at that time, a women winning the world title!! And it was a GREAT match. Props to secy star she was amazing!!
I was at every taping. From day 1 when there was only 20 fans till when it grew so big that fans slept on line overnight. Luckily I always had VIP seating from Eric Van Wagner
I saw a taping early on, and he’s right about the arena. It was a set built for the show, and it was just so cool to walk into and be a part of. It was a super fun show, batshit crazy at times, but what an unexpected breathe of fresh air in the wrestling world in terms of storytelling. I was living in LA at that time and my only complaint was I wish went to more shows. Good times!
It's a shame they couldn't figure out how to balance their contract with tapings. Given how down time there was in-between seasons, the contracts shouldn't have barred people from working elsewhere. Just contractual obligations to have talent at the tapings.
Those who got to see every episode of LU knows just how truly special and historic this show was 💯 easily the most talented roster when it comes to pure workers. The storylines were also so captivating
The Hell of War match is one of my favorite Hardcore Matches of all time. Beautifully Brutal. Immediately after watching that match, I was like "Who the hell is Killshot?!" And I've been following Swerve's career ever since.
Lucha Underground was so dope, Im sad it ended, but there were sooooo many good characters, matches and the story was mystical and awesome, the premise was well thought out and the talent was top notch. Definitely the best roster of its time! Maybe of all time foir a bit there...Great conversation!
Swerve didn't have to be like those other wrestlers. He was his own character, and that's what made me a huge fan of his. I miss Lucha underground,it was so unique.
Maaan him takling how he didnt have this, didn't have that, bruh Killshot was dope af,for me,he had everything that made that character, THAT character 🔥🔥🔥Definitely one of my favs & definitely miss those LU days💔💯
I just now started lucha and i think its great....ive always wanted someone to start a wrestling company thats almost like the marvel universe....get away from trying to be too real and give them special powers and crazy back stories...i dont always need my wrestling to be so close to real life.
LU was at the right place, at the right time, and with the planets in perfect alignment. It was the most unique wrestling show with an incredible roster of alumni that probably can never be replicated. Lucha Underground is one of the better things to happen to fans post 1900's.
I miss lucha underground i was there when angelica flew off that highspot and dropkick his opponent off the ladder was Awesome you had to be there hope the bring it back someday
The one/two punch of nxt black and gold with Lucha Underground should be looked at as the revolutionary brands that got wrestling out of the pg era and into what we are enjoying in 2024.
Watch the full interview with Swerve Strickland on my main channel here: ruclips.net/video/MG_xFHGbOnw/видео.html
Love It CVVCLIPS Bro.
Lucha Underground was the most unique thing ever in wrestling. I enjoyed every shows so much
I always wanted to watch it but never got around to it but shit him, Rey, ADR & Morrison were doing their thing from the clips I’ve seen
@@BrockSamsonVBricochet and Santos Escobar were in the company as well.
@@Brndn350Z I definitely saw ricochet, didn’t notice Santos that’s cool as hell !!
It was a breathe of fresh air when the rest of wrestling was stagnant..
It was so great the great story telling and great matches
LU was criminally underrated. Loved that they went full into the whole soap opera aspect of wrestling. Everyone was able to stand-out.
Exactly that's what I loved about it as well. I wish it could get a reboot like Chris said.
Yeah, the fact it had acclaimed Hollywood director Robert Rodriguez and Mark Burnett, who created and produced the biggest reality TV shows at the helm as well made it the best looking wrestling show in history.
Agreed. it was great
I am just now watching LU for the first time, and looking for stuff like this. LU is amazing.
Lucha Underground was so good. I really miss that format and all the characters.
Same
AEW
Lucha underground is my favorite wrestling show of all time
hell yeah
LU had a role and reason for everyone on the show. No character was wasted. They all felt important
LU isn't just one of the best wrestling shows of all time, it's one of my favorite shows period
It is a shame it ended soon. LU and NJPW (because of Bullet Club) were definitely one of the most talked about wrestling shows during the mid 2010s.
1000% agree.
The Black Lotus Triad vs Pentagon Jr is one of my favorite episodes of anything. I put it up there with prime Simpsons.
LU was the best.
When WWE was stale and unwatchable, LU kept me a fan of wrestling. God I miss it.
You’re not the only one
Same!!!
It was truly unique! It stood out because it was certainly not trying to be wwe. It was it's own thing.
i don't know if i would be a wrestling fan today if it wasn't for LU
wwe sucked... tna lost it's edge...
then LU came around and i remembered why i was a wrestling fan in the beginning...
i really miss it...
I miss Lucha Underground so much. Was such a great show.
It reminded me a lot of the WMAC Masters show from the 90’s. I think more shows like those need to come back.
Loved that show as a kid!!!
Lucha underground was the shit back a day It was so good please bring it back. #TakeMeBack.
Man I miss Lucha Underground. It was so fire!
Budget reallrv
I felt Killshot as a former military sniper being part of the character really helped with fleshing out the character. It really added to him so good job to Swerve for adding that
I loved Lucha Underground! It was my favorite wrestling show for 4 years.
Lucha Underground was the best thing. It was what really turned me into a wrestling fan. The best of Lucha is in aew now
Lucha Underground got me back into to wrestling. The roster was insane, the matches where great in so many diffrent ways.
same here
The Killshot vs Dante Fox rivalry is an underrated highlight of Lucha Underground.
We need another “Fantasy” Focused Wrestling Company because you got the “wrestling is fake” out of the way and just enjoy the show for what it is
Ironically it was written so well it was actually easier to get immersed in than other wrestling promotions at that time
That’s why I loved Lucha underground, everyone one was a cartoon character super hero or villain, it was cool to see established stars become a different persona
Lucha Underground was mad underrated, and it was just the right thing for some Wrestlers character wise. For example Johnny Mundo will forever be the best version, just because his character was so fitting for the insane wrestling he did there.
Lucha Underground was goated

I loved LU. It was so much fun & so unique with so many outstanding matches with so many outstanding talents.
Lucha Underground brought back my love for wrestling. Now AEW is keeping it alive. Thanks Kill shot aka the future AEW Champ.
Aged well
*LUCHA UNDERGROUND WAS ONE OF THE BEST WRESTLING SHOWS IVE EVER SEEN* 👑🔥🔥
I miss lucha underground
Lucha Underground was fantastic. Everything about it was so well done in a way you wouldn't think would work.
So true, on paper a supernatural telenovella with wrestling should not have worked so damn well
Lucha Underground and TNA impact are my favorite brands ever.
I miss Lucha Underground so much. reason why I started my revamp series a year after it ended.
Lucha Underground was amazing every episode was something special one episode of Lucha was greater than other wrestling TV shows
I miss lucha underground ❤❤ killshot vs AR Fox was amazing
Lucha Underground was so ground breaking, pushed the envelope
Lucha Underground was legendary. There was never anything like it and I don't think there will ever be again.
I always say Lucha Underground is the best wrestling show I've ever seen. I use it to introduce people into wrestling to this day. It even has one of my All-Time Favorite wrestling matches: Killshot vs Dante Fox
Agreed, lucha underground is literally my favorite wrestling "promotion" of all time
The writer/booker for Lu should go to AEW
Lucha was so fkn sick. Killshot vs AR Fox (Dante)Weapon of Mass Destruction... was ABSOLUTELY one of the best wrestling matches I've ever seen.
What made lucha underground so unique was that is was made for Latinos but welcomed all ethnicities.
truly it was awesome
I miss lucha underground gave me a whole new perspective on what wrestling can be. Hope to see something like it someday
LU was some legendary, groundbreaking stuff. Def some of my favorite wrestling ever.
I'm definitely becoming a big fan of his .I didn't know of his earlier stops in Nxt and Lucha underground
This is when I first learned of and became a fan of this man he is great love Swerve Strickland
If you’ve never seen Lucha Underground I can’t recommend it enough. It was good in ring work and storylines but also just plain fun.
Lucha Underground was one of my favorite things ever put on television.
I saw this and just yelled, "He was killshot!?! Fuck yeah!!"
I always told my friends LU is if you mixed Mortal Kombat and WWE. I got to go to so many shows live and it truly was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

Been with Swerve since the temple! Nah it wasn’t hard to believe , the underground was LIT
Lucha underground was so good. Killshot vs Dante fox was a killer match.
before NXT Black & Gold, Lucha Underground(first few seasons) was THE shiznit!!! miss those 2 brands so much

Lucha Underground had the best ring canvas in pro wrestling history
I miss Lucha Underground so much!

Favorite Lucha Underground match of all time is Cage v. Pentagon. I believe it was for the Title as well.
They need to bring back Lucha Underground
I saw a taping early on, and he’s right about the arena. It was a set built for the show, and it was just so cool to walk into and be a part of. It was a super fun show, batshit crazy at times, but what an unexpected breathe of fresh air in the wrestling world in terms of storytelling.

Lucha underground was one of those shows where dam near every wrestlers was great with a story that came with them
Lucha Underground brought me back to wrestling.
Lucha underground was the first time I saw Swerve. The killshot vs. dante fox match was the greatest thing to me for a while.
I miss Lucha Underground😢

one of wrestling's greatest tragedies since the purchase of WCW and ECW. It was a privilege to watch Lucha Underground.
LU was the shit! Would’ve loved to have seen it go on!
My favorite job ever!! Lucha was amazing!!
Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan) vs Killshot was one of my all time favorite matches of Lucha.
Truly a special moment in wrestling.
Lucha Underground definitely was the spiritual successor to Wrestling Society X, I miss both shows.
Lucha underground was the best part of my life looking forward to it weekly not knowing what was gonna happen it was like being a kid again ❤
Swerve didn't have to be like those other wrestlers. He was his own character, and that's what made me a huge fan of his. I miss Lucha underground,it was so unique.
Lunch’s Unground was my favorite… Prince Puma was when I discovered he greatness of Richochet
LU is the first place I seen Ricochet and Brian cage you’d think those 2 would have been given true world championships after their run there
Lucha Underground was so freaking amazing.
Lucha underground was dope asf killshot hopefully a return
LU needs a come back 🤞🏿🙏🏾
Maaan him takling how he didnt have this, didn't have that, bruh Killshot was dope af,for me,he had everything that made that character, THAT character 🔥🔥🔥Definitely one of my favs & definitely miss those LU days💔💯

I miss Luche Underground
Swerve is such a cool guy
I just now started lucha and i think its great....ive always wanted someone to start a wrestling company thats almost like the marvel universe....get away from trying to be too real and give them special powers and crazy back stories...i dont always need my wrestling to be so close to real life.
Lucha underground made me realize wrestling doesn't need to be "real" to be immersive it just needs to be written well
@GLsJAwtomatica exactly! Coulsnt be said any better.
LU was at the right place, at the right time, and with the planets in perfect alignment. It was the most unique wrestling show with an incredible roster of alumni that probably can never be replicated. Lucha Underground is one of the better things to happen to fans post 1900's.

You're thinking about Son of Havoc hahaha.
@@suckit1071 bruh thanx 😭
Lucha Underground deserves a video game
LU was so fukin good. There may never be anything else like it.
Damn that show was special
The one/two punch of nxt black and gold with Lucha Underground should be looked at as the revolutionary brands that got wrestling out of the pg era and into what we are enjoying in 2024.
It took me a long time before I found out he was Killshot. I'll never forget that match vs Marty the moth
