I think this song is awesome, and they have real courage and confidence for taking such a huge risk on debuting this, and it is amazing. to me this song says we are not gonna fit neatly into a mold like everyone else, we are gonna do what we dare, and have the talent to pull it off. When I first heard the song I was disappointed not only in the song but also the music video. I understand that fantagio is trying to ride the i.o.i wave so they gave yoojung and doyeon a lot of screen time but a part of me felt sad for the other girls. I really hope the other girls get more opportunities to stand out more in the future. Alright but re listening to the song I started to fall in love with the track, like I don't know if it's because the production starts to make sense after a few listens or something else but now I really enjoy this song. I really love this other song called fantastic from the mini album it seems so cute and retro!!!
Check out the stage performance for the song, it's so much more cohesive with the full dance. You'd probably also enjoy the dance for "Fantastic", which they did for their debut showcase. It's pretty silly and apparently self-choreo'd. "Stay With Me" has a full choreo from their showcase as well.
I actually adore the song! It's fun and eclectic in a way that's really memorable, and I felt like the abrupt transitions between the different genres (especially the chorus) gave it an unpolished charm that suits the group's name and adds a very Fantagio feel 😊

The 2 big problems i have with this song are the production (it's just a mess) and the line distribution. i can understand the main vocal having a lot of lines, that's pretty standard, but the gap between her, yoojung, and doyeon and the rest of the girls is just ridiculous. i don't think the other members got to show off their charms at all.
True! I love them and although Yoojung is my bias, I would love for the rest of the girls to shine as well.
I liked the song,but the line distribution sucks.
A lot of people are saying that this is the "second "I Got A Boy" " ... I simply don't think that's the same. "I Got A Boy" was a four and a half minute song that did cover may music styles but because each transition between each style took its time. Every concept in the MV had a different style, outfit and vibe. "IGAB" Took it's time to fully develop each new sound in the song.
However "I don't like your Girlfriend" jumps between different music styles way more, making a lot of the parts feel disjointed. "IDLYG" clocked in at just over three minutes, meaning "IGAB" had around a minute and a half more to slow down and fully showcase one concept before moving on to the next one.
As someone who was disappointed in Gfriend's "Love Whisper", and that a lot of their fans restrict them to that cute, innocent concept, i'm glad Weki Meki have a wider concept. If you listen to their album, the 2nd song is tropical RDM, and the 3rd is a cute, girly song, reminds me of Apink and early IU, so they are very different from eachother and the title track. I can se why people would find that confusing, but at the same time, it makes sure that they are not labeled and put in a box, as a certain type of group, like Gfriend is.
And by the way i love Gfriend, i just liked the direction they were going with "Fingertip" way better, than the pre "Rough" era that "love Whisper" fits into.
FlixerDK I totally disagree. Even though I am a buddy - supported and bought the finger tip album I was hugely disappointed in fingertip. I love - love whisper... I will support the girls even if the company decides to change their concept in their next comeback. Fingertip didn't work well with them...
ymarty1990 - I just feel like the video concept is like Gfriend from 2015, i would have been OK with going back to "Navillera" era, and go from there, if they thought "Fingertip" was a misstep, in terms of concept, but with the "Love Whisper" concept, it feels like they are starting all over again. Also if the song was more uptempo like "Me Gustas Tu", "Rough" or "Navillera", i'd probably like it more, but i'm just not feeling it.
FlixerDK Fingertip did the worst than all of their other albums so I understand why they went back to their innocent concept ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ People were complaining so much about innocent concepts but when they came out with a not so innocent concept they just let them flop
I really didn't expect you to like the song. I agree with every point but I'm still jamming to the song. I'm like one of the few people that liked the song at first listen.
I feel like it's one of those experimental songs like igab (don't kill me please) where there are about 4 songs in one and it confuses people but I feel it growing on me aND HELP I LOVE IT NOW
Agree with the channel - the track has no identity (very hard to distinguish/categorise). The song is all over the place, but slightly catchy. And @Jen Chi LMAO too funny!
Taetae Kookies Totally agree. It's kind of experimental, but as long as people have an open mind, it continues to grow on you. It reminds me of all the complaining about how weird "Rookie" was when it first came out, and now it's got over 41M views on YT..:)
Pd, your reaction to the chorus was my original reaction too. It took me on a trip. It kinda reminded me of when I Got A Boy came out and the song just went from one genre to another. I think the song grew on me more than I thought it would but I mean there might be a better song in the future for me though
Here's my opinion: I *love* the individual parts of the song but I don't love the entire thing together (but I have to say that it is slowly growing on me... _slowly_) but I have to give them props because Weki Meki is the first group from their company so they are not very experienced and neither are most of their members. Yes they have former IOI members but the maknae is only 14! Weki Meki and the company are still learning and figuring things out so, all things considered, I think they did very well. Not to mention that all the members are very talented and very much their own person; I think with a little more experience, Weki Meki can do very well for themselves and leave their mark in the Kpop world!! I love your reactions PD and I really appreciate your input!
Siri ummm actually weki meki is not the first group from their company...they have 5uprise, Hello Venus, Astro and not too long ago they just "debuted" Suprise U ..

I didn't mean the *_first_* group, but I see where I went wrong with the wording (I said 'the first group' oops...) I meant that Fantagio is still new in terms of experience with girl groups, not that they were the company's first group or even the company's first girl group, sorry for the confusion!! What I was trying to get across is that they still have room to grow and this is just Weki Meki's experimental stage before they find what works for them best!
Siri i agree bc what got hv more notice was when they released 'wiggle wiggle' even though they have some bop songs but what i think what fanta (also known as fanmu or fantagio) is doing is by "giving" weme a variety of things before they have this idea that "ok this is their style" ...even then fanta didnt had that much of experience when they made astro just a all kpop boy group instead of how they did with 5urprise and make them as a actor-then-idol group
Seen like im rambling but it is a debut n i honestly have hope for more improvements on showing the other members and have on having a strong comeback

The song is such a mess😂😂 but the girls have so much confidence on the song and put everything into their performance that I can't help, but love it. I still wish they had a stronger debut song because of all of the anticipation, but I still love the song
The chorus is hella lit
Not only was the song a mix and match of different musical genres, the music video was also just an ongoing cycle of "so now we're sassy" to "and now we're cute" to "but hey we're sexy too". It's literally their debut but it already feels like they're having an identity crisis. Or the company is having one at least. They can't figure out how to brand and market Weki Meki. But I do really like the chorus. It's a mess but it's nothing compared to I Got A Boy. Which I did enjoy when it came out lol.
I think this song is cool af. The different genres being thrown together were thrown at me and kept my attention and didn't make me bored. I'm assuming this song shows that they will do different genres. My booty would shake to this song in a club 10/10. Would recommend. Their debut sold me. I hope they keep confusing me and keeping me interested.

The stage dance works a lot better with it than the MV IMO, has a more stable visual flow. Anyone interested should look up their debut stage from M Countdown that just got released today (17/08/10, ep. 536).
Interesting thoughts PD. I'm still not sure how I feel about this song, but I think the group definitely has potential, I'll be interested to see what they comeback with in the future. Also I'm living for all these PD reactions, thanks for another great video!

IDLYG just took time for me to like. It wasn't my type when first heard it when it came out, but it started loving it when I listened to it more. It was just messy, and it went through like 5 genres that were really noticeable. Now I just really love the song, and their recent comeback, La La La, was definitely a "love at first listen," for me. Support Weki Meki guys!

For some reason I didn't really think it was that messy the first time I listened to this song. Maybe I'm desensitized to messiness or I'm just a confusing, messy person to begin with. But I was just so amused with all of the new parts that kept popping up, the transitions didn't bothered me too much. I'm a girl who is obsessed with cute, sexy, and badass songs equally (and I dance all three as well!) so mixing all three was like kpop heaven for me.

I was confused when I listened to this song and I'm still confused. I don't know if I love it or hate the entire song but the chorus is getting to me and I like it... Personally I didn't like this debut at all and was let down a lot. Only Yoojung and Doyeon stood out to me and the other girls didn't seem to be as charming except maybe the blonde one. The styling is also so old school and just :/ I hope they have a better comeback
