  • Smooth out that rough airbrush trigger!
    Quick how-to on smoothing out the action on a Badger airbrush.
    Very fast into on what to use and how to do it. I do not actually smooth the action of an airbrush in the video as that took too long. But you'll have everything you need to know watching this.

    Great info. I was thinking of looking into this on my Badger Sotar, Xtreme Patriot 105 and Velosity airbrushes. I just got finished with a airbrush project and notice the issue with the triggers on all 3 brushes. Badger has come a long way and I do enjoy these airbrushes.
    Thanks for sharing

    thank you sir I had the same problem on my 105 arrow the trigger was caching on the sides I followed your method and it worked great, thanks again for the video.

    Thanks for posting this! I have a Badger Patriot 105 airbrush which frankly I haven't used a whole lot because there is a definite 'catch' in the trigger action. I'll have to get some Zam (already have the hobby file and sandpaper) and see if I can smooth out that trigger. I've been using my Harbor Freight Deluxe double action airbrush more often just because of the trigger issue.

    I noticed the pull where it goes from nothing to full blast paint on the new Vex from Badger and was going to try this.

      Which needle with the vex? I know to do some of the capabilities with the dual needle design that there were some give and takes. To me one of the gives with the general purpose needle is that its less refined in terms of slowly opening the nozzle up. But thats the same story with any dual taper needle as well, like the Omni 4000.
      If you're getting a rough pull on the trigger I would test it without the a needle in to see if its the trigger on the body or something the needle may be hitting. But like I say in the video there are really only a few places that can really cause a rough trigger. Hope you get it smoothed out. Feel free to drop a message for any help you may need.

    Was never a problem with my 30 years old 150. I'm going to buy a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra or Evolution airbrush - german high quality. 😉

    One of the few videos showcasing a badger high roller trigger. Thanks! By any chance, is the sotar needle stopper compatible with the badger patriot 105?

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  4 года назад +1

      Not really, but yes.
      The .3 nozzle/needle set up in the Patriot Extreme CAN use the same needle as the Sotar. But that is the only part that can.
      If you're wanting to go smaller with the 105 just get the Extreme nozzle/needle set.

    Good tip! I'll try in my old ones, if successful, then I'll consider to do the same for my brand new SOTAR 20/20. And talking of it, one of the things I miss is a metallic lid for it. Mine has the same cup design as yours. Have you ever found a compatible lid for it?

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  6 лет назад

      No. But I also haven't looked that hard. Some guys say there was a lid made for it, but I haven't seen one before. But they is probably something out there that would work.

      I hope this one u heard about be sth different of the rubber made lid that comes with Velocity Jet (goo.gl/bYcu62). Mine is history now. It's not thinner-proof. Well, if someday, for some reason u find sth useful, please share! Thanx!

    where did you get that super tall trigger on the sotar?

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  3 года назад

      It is the Badger High Roller trigger. You can get it direct from them or any site that sells Badger products.

    What parts are required for the 100/20/20 conversion? Can I use a patriot?

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  4 года назад

      You need a 100 body and Sotar spray head assembly. Or the other way around. The 100 series and Sotar series use the same threading in the body. So they can swap heads.
      The Patriot uses a completely different system for its spray head and cannot he used with Sotar or 100 parts.

      @@goldwest57 thanks! My intention is to swap the body with a 100g to delete the black finish on the inside of the cup

    I have a Renegade, a Patriot, and a Universal and they all have a very smooth trigger right out of the box. If he thought they were that bad he should have sent them back.

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  5 лет назад +1

      This isn't a question of them being "bad". Its all about better. Yes all of mine have had good triggers out of the box. But the ones I've done this too have improved a lot.

    At that price it should be already smooth it’s call quality control I understand it’s made in usa

    • @goldwest57
      @goldwest57  4 года назад

      At that price...yes at the $90 you can get a Sotar for it should be smooth and most are. But you can make it smoother by doing this. Yes Badger brushes are made in the US. Whats your point?

    So, you purchase a high end airbrush, or a supposed to be high end airbrush for over 100 bucks AND you have to “smooth out raw machining marks” on said airbrush? Nuke the factory, we don’t need that 🤯
