Fuck Javier Bardem is so underrated. One actor that definitely deserves ten times more recognition
Ok, no. The man is a star in several languages including every genre from huge blockbusters (James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dune = most recently, next: Triton in Disney's new The Little Mermaid) to highly-acclaimed independent films (Biutiful, Love in the Time of Cholera, Loving Pablo), even some very entertaining rom-coms (Vicky Christina Barzelona, Eat Pray Love). In fact, he has been honored with an Oscar for _No Country For Old Men_ and recieved further Oscar noms so far. He's one of the very few international actors who's won in Cannes, in Venice, the Bafta, the Goya, the European Film Award, and absolutely everything Hollywood hands out (there's an entire Wikipedia page just listing Bardem's awards - and the man has only reached his 50s). He shot three films in 2021 alone... at the peak of the pandemic!! I get that this was meant as a great compliment, but how exactly do some people define "underrated"?
And in Spain he is probably considered one of the best actors we ever had

@@TheYayoii I think it's the opposite, in Spain they pronounce all with "b" as Javier does, but in fact it's something that the RAE accepts as valid. I'm from Latam and I was taught in school about the difference between "b" and "v".

Javier played such an amazing villain. Adding the campness and the psychological side to it was genius. To be fair the modern DC bond films have done a great job with the villains, breaking with the old school standard model and creating a whole new style of bad guy.

Spectre was great, but in all honesty, Bardem > Waltz as far as Bond villains go. I love Christoph Waltz (he's in my top 3 favorite actors) but he just couldn't compete with Bardem in my opinion.

+Thomas Miller They really underused him, didn't let him do what he does best. His charisma seeps through his roles, watching him in Inglorious Basterds after seeing Specter reminds one of his sheer talent. They should've let him off the chain and just let him do what he does best. He wasn't bad in Specter, by any means, but you're right that he certainly wasn't anything on Bardem.

Oh absolutely but I don’t think the script gave Christoph much to work with. The whole film was pretty bad in my opinion and the character development isn’t there for me, not for that role or any of the supporting roles. I didn’t like Léa Seydoux in the film and I LOVE her otherwise. Sky fall is a far superior movie and Silva is such a brilliantly conceived character. That scene where he’s introduced is absolutely everything. Javier absolutely nailed it in that role.
