India is the New China: younger demographics and probably already a bigger population as China's figured are fudged. China has passed peak population and they estimate a halving by 2070 now! China is truly screwed; their economy has already stagnated. Within the decade China will be a basket case just like Japan only without reaching the middle income status. Indeed I expect negative growth and famine wiill come. Once or as the CCP works this out they will irrationally start a war over Taiwan and their population will starve as a result of the blockade. The CCP won't give up power without trying this first even though they know they will lose in the end but will take up to as many as 500 million expendable mainland Han slaves down with them! This is why I have a very low opinion of mainland Chinese and their culture: they are sheep who will march lockstep into the disaster the fascist CCP inevitably lead them into indeed even with an ignorant glee! That's not to say that India is perfect with its Nationalism and corruption too but the difference between a democracy however flawed and fascism is like chalk and cheese.

India is moving towards bankruptcy and indian government is selling every public assets to private sector, and i can see into your eyes you don't even care about india you want to just spread fake propaganda against china, because you western love to lecture 3rd world countries. Honestly, pretending to make India better than it really is just a reaction to people "exoticising poverty" and taking tours in dangerous, messy areas while having no prior knowledge of how people behave and keeping themselves safe. Not only they put themselves in danger and create panic among locals and the government but they feed into a notion that poverty somehow adds authenticity to Indian culture; Indians who don't suffer from poverty must be corrupt or culturally impure. This creates a devastating effect onto global perception of Indian culture and makes India a harder country to relate to than it really is.

India has so many wonderful Buddhist holy places. India received the Dalai Lama and tens of thousands of Tibetans as refugees in 1959 although they were a poor country. China has been in grotesque denial about the destruction and usurpation of Tibet during the cultural revolution. I am a Buddhist and have spent a great deal of time in Dharamsala where the Dalai Lama still lives in exile. China may have wonderful people but Tibetan Buddhist teachings and culture survived in large part because of India

I'm an African and I have been watching how India behaves towards other "smaller" nations.
India has been rendering CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) to Sri Lanka (during it's economic crisis) - they have extended a line of credit that has lower rates of interest when compared to Chinese loans.
India donated a large amount of grain to Afghanistan.
India will help (if it can) even if there's no immediate payback from the recipient. China from what I can see is more "business like" ie less compassionate. China did great things in Africa in the past like the TANZAM railway, but this feeling of "brotherhood" seems to have faded from the Chinese government.

The first time I came to India was 11 years ago as a language teacher. That first year - especially the work with all those bright young students, but of course also mundane interactions in everyday life or during travels - made me truly fall in love with the country and the people. I was truly sad when my year was up and I had to return home. However, 8 years ago I came back to marry the love of my life and have been living there ever since, and I have zero intentions to move away if I have a say in it.
Does India have its problems? Of course, they are all very much loved by film and documentary makers alike, but nobody is more aware of them than Indians themselves. It is a big country with a HUGE population and in conclusion those problems are huge and without short term fixes too. But those problems are being discussed and efforts are made to tackle them, often at grass root level by small local ngos full of people who try to make something better one little step at a time.
And that's just what I love about India. Indians are open and engaged. They are very much involved in driving change, on big as well as on small level. may it be the 60 year old aunty who decides to start a tiffin business out of her kitchen, or the 5 man little ngo that organizes music classes for kids in slums, or the ice cream shop owner who asks everyone if they have any old glasses for an old people's home he donates to, and I could write an essay about all such people I meet here regularly. And then there are all those ultra-bright people, not only young ones but even elderly. Only the other day I met a 70 year old man who just learned a new programming language. I was floored. People are open, people want to make a change, they want a better life - of course for themselves, but many many also have compassion to try and give a positive change to others - they want to learn, they are eager and open and curious to get to know you and possibly get some positive input from you, they think on the fly - Indian jugaad is something to be reckoned with in big and in small things - they adapt to the situations as they come, it's truly humbling.
And finally, as a foreigner of another ethnicity I will forever be grateful at how welcome I've always felt here and at how easy it is to encounter and communicate with people on a human-to-human level. People you talk to are not just 'Indians' they could be your aunty, or your uncle, or your little brother or sister, or your big brother or sister, you connect to people that way and despite all the harshness that is undoubtedly often there due to the economic and communal situation, there is also so so much open and warm humanity.
After almost 10 years living in India I have full faith that India will continue to advance to a better future, one step at a time, no matter how long it will take. It sometimes may feel like no progress is made, but if you look at how India was left behind by the British just after 1947 (you just need to read V.S. Naipaul's bitter early work to get an idea), India has advanced lightyears, and that after being basically sucked dry by foreign occupiers for centuries before that.
I'll always be grateful to this country for welcoming me in. Jai Hind!

Even if china grows at half the rate , they still outgrow India in absolute terms by a large margin. That's a stupid way of measuring it. If we were to look at growth rate, you would have to think African countries ridden with unrest and war are booming; in simpler words, imagine South Sudan having some imaginary GDP rate of 20 while USA's rate is 20.000.000; if USA makes annual progress by 1.000.000 that's "only 5%", while South Sudan going from 20 to 40 means 100% progress, but does rhis mean South Sudan is some magical place of economic growth compared to US? Not really
(I know it's a stupid example but you get my point)

Western corporations were looking for cheap labor for manufacturing their products. They had two main choices India and China. We've always looked up to India as our Elder Culture. Apart from some strangely coincidental homonymy of mythical figures, such as Avraham/ Brahma, Sarah/ Sarasvati a.s.o., the original connection is lost in time, but the central core remains: values!
The sanctity of Life is the chief value we share with the Hindus, and that includes the respect for Humans and Animals. Also, since we do not have a clear, dogmatic Afterlife belief such as the Moslems and the Christians have, we have mostly embraced the very Indian idea of reincarnation.
We do admire China, its art and culture and it undeniable achievements, but we do not identify with it. We Israelis see no Otherness about Indians. Intuitively, we're of one family.

It is true, Israel has been very good to India all through the years because they never forgot that their ancestors were once under its wings and despite cruelty done to jews all over the world, India remained free of it. It is actually due to India's political compulsions that we've not been as good of a partner to Israel uptil now. Israel gave its goodwill to India multiple times, but it was treated more like a mistress that one wants but cannot show world that relationship. It was a period of geopolitics where India was powerless to be as forthcoming. When one reads of what Israel has done for India over the years, one would feel deep respect for their patience and love for carrying such a relationship despite not being reciprocated well for it. In a way its same way for Japan but Japan still got something in return, Israel was left standing for very long in the rain yet never once complained. I think this is a relation of karma beyond profit or loss margins. Since the making of Israel state it wanted good relations with India because of those sentiments and it was really not more than that, India was poor and downtrodden in those times especially after British left and it had really nothing to contribute nor anything to be taken advantage of, yet they never forgot India at their heart just because the had love for it. I can respect this strong sentiment, history points towards it and its truly right to say so.

You can even notice this difference in Indians and Chinese abroad. Going to university in the UK I have never been approached by a Chinese student, any time I spoke to one it was either an assignment or I decided to first. Meanwhile Indian students would often start the conversation, whether it was small talk waiting for the bus or waiting for a lecture to start. Despite similar numbers(it was a compsci course so popular with both groups), the Chinese students would often form their own bubbles where they didn't speak to British students at all while Indians mixed in with everyone else. And this wasn't entirely a language issue since the Chinese students did speak decent English when they had to.
Overall I have never met an Indian person I didn't get along with. Great country, wish them the best.

This is very true. Same for Mainlanders here in Canada. They don't trust anyone other than their own family and close knit friends. This is coming from a ABC. So it's not a race thing, but mostly likely a communist behavior. they are extremely selfish and worship money.
An eg, our family invited a Mainland Chinese neighbor who just moved over for dinner. Not only they didn't show up, they didn't bother to even have the courtesy to say "sorry or thank you" (2 words Mainlanders never say).
Another time we sent Xmas greeting cards to 3 neighbors. A white family, Hongkonger, the Mainlander family. The white family came over and said thank you. The Hongkonger gave us a nice bubbly champagne. The Mainlander? Nothing. Not even a thank you. or a nod when he saw us on the same day.

That’s such a brilliant way to put the perspective. India has done some unthinkable things which many would not realize. I will give simple facts which might tickle something:
      1. India did the biggest and widest affirmative action and that too when they wrote their Ist constitution. They have rights to exploited, massacred, pushed to bottom and that too without any demands or revolution. Ask Blacks in US, or indefinite communities across the world they are still struggling to achieve that.
      2. India has absorbed most number of refugees ever and given them statehood… imagine they are already billions still they take on persecuted from across the world and don’t put them in camps or ghettos for ever. Ask Tamils, Tibetans, Parsees, Sindhis, Iranians, burmeses, etc etc.
      3. India has the world’s biggest program on hunger prevention and also on the free medicines. Even Chinese don’t come close. Still they never brag… because in their culture it is to be done. Or karma will strike back.
Still I say it’s far from perfect but in India but is very livable if one has yearning for humanity and not materiality. You can breathe freedom. 🙃🤔

@Elleon Mor As a woman, I like my India. I would love to visit China one day, no one can replace India. The current society is definitely corroded, but its the civilization which worships women in different forms as well (Sakti). The values aren't wrong and I'm an optimist for a better India.

This is why I've been saying to people, it is in our best interests (for Americans) to have very warm relations with India. But for some reason, we think that Pakistan is more viable. Yeesh.

What I've really noticed is that US people are stuck in 80s as far as their international diplomacy goes. They need to upgrade their minds. Pakistan is the only big thorn in a strong Indo-USA relationship.

I live in Japan and go to school with quite a few Indians and Chinese… its not hard to see both countries National characters just based on the international students. I have never seen a disrespectful Indian person here. Even abroad, Indians behave themselves and act courteous and respectful even in the face of a actual discrimination. I’ve also seen mainland Chinese students act atrociously then claim they are the ones being discriminated against when questioned or reprimanded. One group sees themselves as part of the international community, and the other sees themselves as above it. Its quite sad. Much love to India from Japan.

Thank you Japan, this is because we aren't brainwashed to live under a false sense of supremacy and are actually taught to be humble, have a heart and be respectful of others, yes it's true that there are some who can be hyper-nationalistic at times, and that a lot of issues remain to be solved, but we atleast accept and acknowledge them as they are, even if we might not agree to criticism at times, it's atleast there for the whole world to see, we acknowledge that we're imperfect like everyone is and actually are aware and discuss about it, if not work towards making it right, rather than passively bully others into making them think that we're right even if we're wrong, we have a soul, while they seem to have lost it long ago, and are too blind and brainwashed to see and accept things for how they are. We are of the opinion that ties need to be maintained with Japan as our trustable and crucial allies for the long run, and respect them for that and their humbleness, honesty and hard work, much love back to Japan.

When I was in middle school I had a teacher that spoke of India in such a demeaning way. I took it to heart for so many years until I started to learn about how spiritual, outspoken, and truthful Indian people are. I learned about the many gods that they worship, the resilience of Indian culture throughout the ages, and how adaptive they are in every age of the world. Needless to say I fell in love with India after learning about it on my own. I have never been to India myself, but I truly want to go and travel ALL of India some day.

Indian people are great, culture is rich, and there sure are wonderful sights to behold, but actually living here is just bad for most. The new government (this may be a little biased, but bare with me) is quite literally trying to brainwash the Hindu majority (obv. to receive votes during elections) by demonizing the Muslim population, since like 2014. They have near total control over news media (TV, newspaper, internet doesn't matter because most people don't read news there) and pretty good financial backing. I think things are gonna get better though.
Don't take this too seriously I literally went on a rant and now I don't wanna delete that because it took too much time and effort to type out

India will grow organically at its own pace as compared to China. It’s unfortunate that such an ancient Chinese culture got a ruling party which only believes in absolute power at any cost.
