- It has impacted systems worldwide. Special report via NBC News.
Microsoft users worldwide, including banks and airlines, reported widespread outages on Friday, hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.
A representative with American Airlines confirmed Friday morning that a technical issue with CrowdStrike was impacting multiple carriers. As of 4:30 a.m. EDT, it and other airlines across the globe, including United Airlines and Delta, said they had grounded all flights until the tech issue could be resolved. The FAA confirmed Allegiant flights had also been grounded.

Its almost like we all shouldn't rely on the same 1-2 companies for everything.
ok champ make a tech company
@prettyboy311 how about we keep tech from becoming oligopolistic so there aren't 2-3 companies
@@rocketPower047 ok brother start up your successful tech company and then refuse the multimillion dollar offer Microsoft offers you to sell out
also isn't the power in unity that there is more security...not less? how would decentralized tech give you a greater chance against hacks, bugs and glitches? 1000 minds doing 1000 different things would be better?
💯
Wild that we depend on technology so much and forget how fragile and easily we could lose that luxury.
More like lemmings dependent on the exact same line of bad code globally deployed everywhere all at once.

By that logic, everything is fragile

i blame microsoft laziness in programming over the past decades..these third party programs/services have full level control of kernel access and can easily prevent the OS from loading if something goes wrong..that is dangerous..i have no idea how thats even allowed. bad programming.

It’s affecting hospitals and healthcare. This started last night. I thought it was just my work computer. Well nope. My goodness.

i hate to say it but this is damn good reporting, best segment I've seen so far on this issue.
Agreed. This team seemed very excited reporting this.
Ironic that a company that makes software to keep your computer from getting compromised forced an update that caused Windows computers to get compromised.
"Ironic "
They need to stop forcing these updates and make them optional
Ahh... use Linux ? learn to use tech not be used by it? just saying smart pants.
unfortunately microsoft systems will always be vulnerable to these types of updates. giving full access to kernel mode is dangerous enough already..but to not even make the OS resistant against bad drivers or other kernel level changes is diabolcal..
@luizcarlosf2
why don't you people understand the simple fact that people don't use linux because it isn't compatible with ANYTHING and is infuriatingly complex for the simplest tasks?
You know when they say it isn’t a cyberattack it’s definitely a cyberattack
So when they say it’s a cyberattack, it’s actually a screwup?

Crazy.. we’re almost there
Maybe, but remember SkyNet is an Artificial Intelligence, Microsoft updates are Natural Stupidity...😂
Remember the massive cell tower outages a few months ago? Same shit. Supposedly an “update” caused that too. Sounds like they’re lying.
Same thing happened in Canada before it happened here

Amazing that almost everything is attached to this one particular software. I am very surprised there is no safety barrier to defend for things like these.
its not a cyberattack...but a cyberattack
Looks like a cyber attack quacks like a cyber attack walks like a cyber attack but only experts can tell you that it's not cyber attack..
These people know they be lying.... Why wouldn't they make these companies aware this "update" would affect them so this could've been handled properly. This is ridiculous.
CrowdStrike made a mistake. It was a content update and wasn’t supposed to be a security update. They shipped the wrong thing
Didn't mention hospitals. All the major medical centers in my city are down.

You can thank right wing deregulation...
This is why you have an IT department that test patches before rolling them out. Those that simply subscribed to updates were affected.
More info coming out, basically CrowdStrike is a IT management tool for servers/computers.
What's happened is they added a patch/update that's bugged and it's getting pushed out to servers across the country and bricking them.
this is similar to what happened to solar winds except that was a cyber attack and we don't know yet if this was a mistake.
Nothing to see here. CrowdStrike is conducting another round of global production testing.
Damn it I knew I shouldn’t have played arcade spot last night
It's a doggone nightmare. I just got off work. I work overnight and I only got off of work 10 minutes ago although my shift ended 3 hours ago. Day shift folks started working early. It's an all hands on deck kind of situation. Thousands upon thousands of servers and PCs are jacked up. Thousands of users can't do their jobs. I'm just glad it's not an actual security breach or something. All in all though it's a nightmare!
The lawsuits are coming.
Didn't know crowd strike was so popular... It really striked ...
Crowdstrike is not a company which can be trusted.
Exactly they had fake fisa warrants
Name alone should tell that
@@fn0rd-f5oThat’s exactly what I said. Sounds like a military black op more than a company designed to protect.
Russia has not been affected at all by this stinky Crowdstrike because it uses its own software. YT has deleted all my comments like this.
1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment
2. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
3. Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it.
4. Boot the host normally.
If only there were some way to mitigate the risk of a change like this like phasing in the change or perhaps testing the change ahead of time
someone is getting fired for this
😢😢 that's true
Rolling back software after an update can be really tough. It often means dealing with data incompatibilities, potential bugs, and loss of new features. Plus, it can disrupt users who are already adapted to the new version. It's like trying to undo a big change without messing things up even more.
What happened in the test environments? Why did production systems get auto updated without the update being tested? This is why forcing updates on a computer should never happen. It should always be, there is an update, would you like to install it? Can corporations sue CrowdStrike for the damage that they did?
Meanwhile a couple days ago on Tim Dillons podcast. Alex Jones predicted there would be cyber attacks….
That one guy that misclicked the push...oops 😬
Best case for linux Ive ever seen
This is why a monopoly is never good

Why does one company have so much power over the internet?
Simple-ish fix.
Reboot into safe mode so as to be able to get to an admin command line.
Delete file c-00000291*sys at windows\system32\drivers\crowdstrike.
Reboot. Fixed.
There will also be an update applied that replaces the file you deleted.
As if you created the fix lol but nice of you to type it up!!
@opie2890 he didn't say he created it, but it's useful info to those who haven't seen it.
I have seen a lot of machines bluescreen trying to get to safe mode, but you can get to cmd through the recovery screen

Crowdstrike has obviously not hired change management professionals. You would never push mission critical changes during the middle of the European or Asian business day. Crowdstrike did this change on a Thursday night so it wouldn't impact their drinking Friday and Saturday night in Austin. Total lack of professionalism.
Yep i new something big was happening when thing after thing started showing Major Outage on my Microsoft Xbox series s... Glad you named the company so we can sue them for not doing their fkn job.
Is it affecting consoles too?

Microsoft relies on Linux for its Servers. Not Microsoft. Think about that for a minute.
You mean windows. And you're full of s***
I thought everything had a form of Linux in it? I could be wrong though
Everything relies on 1s and 0s
Yeah, 5 seconds of thought tells me you have no idea how an OS, an application, a server, and a computer function or communicate with one another.
it must feel nice to be wrong
It's a good thing I never have auto-update on
We are too reliant on computers
Could this be a dry run?
Yup

Of what? Testing to see how likely you are to be a flat earther?😂😂😂
My BMV told me this morning everything is down. My boy had a flight late last night. Im surprised he is good to fly out.
Botched software update? Okay, but why is there no backup they can switch on, while an update/upgrade is being made to the main software?
There’s no way to know the truth…
I got my blue screen of death...it has impacted so much here in Indianapolis. So crazy to think how many services relied on this...
Shows you how fragile our society is
How do we protect ourselves from a *real cyber attack* while everything is offline? I.E., when “the thing” that is supposed to protect us is not protecting us, ...., then what/who does the protecting?
Sounds like a fire sale
see what happens when everything is ran on computers?
Looks like Crowd Strike accidentally bricked the whole world.

We have got it really bad in Australia
Who wants to bet this wasn’t really Cloudstrike, but Apple?
Definitely Crowdstrike. We use third party systems at the company I work for and they were knocked offline just before 1am last night. Ours were fine but they're iust local networks, we don't use CS on our end but the software company we use probably does on their end.

Alex Jones just said the other day that this was going to happen!
I had that errror message for over 3 months on my personal pc. Nothing helped to solve it. Not even factory reset. I had to send it to asurion for repair last week. Seems like something more sinister.
"It worked in dev, so it should work just fine in production"

It is super scary how this would cause just turning a computer on not to work. Then imagine those who have bills to pay and can’t even do that right now. If cards stop working then I will pass away.
So reporters are doing reaction videos now?
adults have a 2 hour delay on the west coast for work today.
we lost access to the door systems and camera's at the datacenter, luckily most tech has some kind of manual release.

How do we rely on an unstable system? Let’s go back to pen and paper that way everyone’s held accountable.
The continued journey to cloud systems doesn't look that great. Just an easier methodology of affecting multitude of systems with cloud providers. 😅
If the computers are down at the airport they may not be able to update Facebook.
....😂😂😂....this sounds like a cyber attack

Are laundromats affected?
Crowdstrike please test your updates patches, before releasing them to the world.
My bank as well as the bank for the business I am working for is affected. I worked, I earned and I have no money. For generations we used basic accounting, paper checks were issued and we went to the bank and deposited and with drew money and we went about our day. Perhaps it is time to "turn back time".
