TRIP REPORT | Lufthansa | Boeing 747-400 | Frankfurt - Berlin Tegel (FRA-TXL) | Economy Class

- As Lufthansa was using Boeing 747-400 on some flights from Frankfurt to Berlin Tegel to compensate the high demand on Lufthansa tickets due to the Airberlin insolvency, I grabbed the chance to fly with the Queen of the Skies! During my layover in Frankfurt I coincidently met Felix from Simply Aviation who gave me access to the Lufthansa Business Lounge! I had a great time chilling there. The flight was awesome as well! Great service, cool cabin and some beautiful sunset views made my experience with the Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 totally worth it! Did you notice the difference in camera quality as we now use a better one? Let us know in the comments.

It's a great privilege for you to have flown on a Lufthansa 747-400 on such a short flight! Yeah the seats looked comfortable. I missed those days Singapore Airlines operated 747s- their 747 economy seats were the most comfortable ones I ever sat on, even better than the slim and rather hard ones on their A330s and A380s! Growing up on the 747 also fuelled my love for flying.
Probably a one-time experience to fly a 747 on such a short flight! Nice report as always!

ANA and JAL used to fly 747s on 50min domestic flights for decades (until 2014) though.

Very big plane for such a short flight. Was it full? Because I don't think they use the 747 for this flight on a regular basis.
They used it for a few weeks after airberlin, the only other operator on that route ceased operations

Mensch, die 747 ist einfach majestätisch. Wegen der Frage: Von außen schaut die 8er durch die Tragflächen-Form und den längeren Rumpf noch einen Ticken eleganter aus, finde ich. Die 400 wirkt dafür etwas "kräftiger", was aber auch toll aussieht - ach egal: Beide sind wunderschön. :)

Ja, sehr schön auf jeden Fall.
Ich habe vor, nächstes Jahr mit der 744 nach NY zu fliegen, da die ja nicht mehr all zu lange fliegen wird, leider. Jetzt bin ich natürlich voll dabei, mir alle möglichen Trip Reports anzugucken.
Die Beinfreiheit sieht ja mal sehr gut aus. Longhaul fliege ich dann das erste mal. Mein Onkel ist dieses Jahr schon ein paar geflogen, und bei ihm war es eigentlich immer enger als Kurzstrecke. - Pech, wenn man halt nicht 747 fliegt :)

I am so happy that Lufthansa has chosen to keep the Boeing 747-400 flying! So many other airlines retired them and sent them to the scrap heap! Can you tell me how long Lufthansa will keep theirs flying? I would love to ride on one again!!
The reason they are keeping them is cause they dont have any replacement. They are supposed to be replaced by 777-9 which should be delivered in summer 2020 but we will see if Boeing manages to deliver them next year.

In Tegel are gangway positions for the 747 but with only one passage maybe they want to save time with the passenger exit process and that’s the reason for the bus gate here are 2 Stairs and more passenger can exit faster
War wohl eine einmalige Erfahrung die Lufthansa 744 auf einer Domestic Strecke fliegen zu dürfen.

Die Viktor Yankee hatte ich 2014 von Frankfurt nach Bangkok. ( 10:30 ). Schön sie noch mal zu sehen. Es wird den Airlines ( LH, KLM, British ) noch leid tun das sie ihre Arbeitspferde 744 aufs Altenteil gesetzt haben.

The B744 has the best proportions. The - 8 is to long and the wings somehow don't fit that goog :)
Thank God you used this camera, because the audio quality is fantastic! (I can only give you that much, because I'm totally blind, and I really pay attention to the audio quality of RUclips videos.) If it were a GoPro, you'd get a thumbs down from me, because the audio quality is atrocious!

Klasse Trip Report! Wie immer jeden Schritt gut dokumentiert und schöne Einblicke in die lounge. Bietet LH im Non-Schengen-Bereich eine größere Speisenwahl in der Lounge? Auch LH166 im Jumbo war großartig und einer schöner Test der Premium-Eco. Freue micj auf neue Videos.

Thanks! I don't remember the train ticket prices as we booked this flight just because of the 747. But I can imagine that the flight price was cheaper. I`m finished with school since June now so I had no problem with flying on a Tuesday ;)

Das kommt ganz auf die Person drauf an. Manche sind neugierig, dann erkläre ich immer. Aber meistens kommt es nicht zu einem Gespräch. Guten Flug!

I've flown Lufthansa's 747-8 and the legroom was rather poor. It was ok-ish until the person in front of me reclined the seat - then it was literally impossible to eat from the tray as the display was 10cm from your face. Had to ask the flight attendant for cooperation, because the person in front of me refused to put their seat back, despite this was during the lunch service on a day flight.
