They use the BUL M5 frame. I also design and sell +2 to +20 rnd extensions for the mags. The BP TEN II is one of my faves, it doesn't look great, but damn is it a work horse.

I’ve been carrying a 4” barrel model for 12 years now as an every day carry gun. These are very good guns and the longer you own one the more you like it. When they first came out the primary complaint was that the edges on the grip safely were a bit sharp and tended to bite the web of your hand when shooting. This was remedied by carefully filling the corners and edges of the polymer grip safety mechanism. Later I opted for the Cylinder & Slide hammer and trigger group, that greatly improved trigger pull, reliability and accuracy. These are fine guns that improve when thoroughly broken in with use. Great gun!

I just got a Kimber Ten ll stainless double stack 45acp with a 14+1 capacity mag and I was able to make some 20rd capacity mag's from a para ordnance P14 fit and run flawless. So now I have a 20+1 capacity Kimber 2011 in 45acp.

I have carried a BP 10 for 8 years now. Shooting through the first 1000 rounds, certain ammo did have minor feeding problems, so I started polishing the ramp and rails ever so slightly, which corrected any and all feeding problems the gun had. Funny you mentioned it. I have been planning to send it off for coating at some point, NP3 + would be awesome. Great review as always.

Chad - I was relieved to hear you say that you don't own a 1911 and I feel like I can finally come out of hiding now. I love .45 ACP and love the way the 1911 looks. I do not dispute it's merits as a service pistol, but I have not found a reason to buy one either as there are a host of other very good .45 ACP offerings available... Thank you from all non-1911ers out there.

I bought mine many years ago new. I believe it came with 2 10 rounders but was able to buy some Kimber 13 round flush fit mags. I was unfortunate enough to get an external extractor model. Had feed issues with it right away. Round would get stuck on the feed ramp. Sent it back to Kimber at least 2 maybe 3 times and each time they sent it back saying it was fine. It was not. After the last time I cleaned up and polished the feed ramp. That helped but once I put in a Wolf recoil spring that seemed to fix the issues. I believe it was a stronger spring but so long ago I can't remember. I should note that I had put several hundred rounds through it before sending it back the first time. Then each time sent back I put several hundred through it. Then I of course I find a new Pro BP Ten II. It is the commander size. This one has an internal extractor and has shot perfect. Not sure if they ever offered the external on the Pro or not. I want to say the Pro came with 2 13 round Kimber. I some point I found 14 round mags for it. I believe they are Mec-Gar but not positive. They are marked K14-45ACP made in Italy. Better quality than the 13 rounders from Kimber. I may have to buy a couple of those Mec-Gar from Midway sometime. Nice review on a unique weapon but I just had some unfortunate Kimber experiences.

  • @MFKR696

I've always loved Kimber's stuff. Everything about them just screams quality (at least in my humble opinion.) It doesn't hurt that Detachment Delta, SOF, MARSOC, and CANSOFCOM have all had custom models built for their detachments. Kimber's just high quality, plain n simple. For example, the Kimber Raptor 1911 is a seriously high-end hole puncher, they single-handedly prove that not all mass-production 1911's suck. For a 1911 to function properly, it has to be machined with extremely tight tolerances. Any deviation from those tolerance thresholds will mess up the action big time, causing failure-to-feed, failure to extract etc. problems to occur. I personally love 1911s, but it's damn hard to find a good manufacturers of the ol' Slab Side these days.

The frame for these guns were made by BUL Transmark in Israel. They made frames for Springfield Armory, Kimber, Charles Daly and now Battle Ready International is importing them. BUL Transmark also makes 1911 for Magnum Research.

Awesome guns, very undervalued. Lot of these failed to shoot reliably from the factory new because of their crap extractor and slide stops. Change these parts with Wilson Bulletproof, EGW, or Ed Brown, and you've got a winner. I prefer the early models - non-Kimber II polymer 45s with the Israeli Bul-5 lowers. These had the series 70 slides and trigger safety. They balance better and recoil less than any Kimber's I've owned!

    Quick question.
You and I both know threaded barrels are available for pistols. My question is if its possible to get an extended barrel adapter type attachment with a match type front housing like on a H&K USP .45 match? Just because my pistol has an underbarrel rail, and I want to extend the barrel from 5" to 12" for accuracy reasons and because i want to install a foregrip to aid accuracy. Since my gun is a low powered .22 and I'd like to have some range.
I dont know what all you can do to maximize a FNH Five-seveN's fire power. I thought about a tighter barrel, swapping the polymer for steel, increasing the spring tension, and so on.
I just want to maximize the potential of a .22 pistol. Maybe you'll make a video on it? Who knows? I think it would be cool to see what kind of gun mods you can cook up

Isreal's Bul M-5 w/Kimber upper. Just got my second w/adjustable sights. Additional update at end of this info:
The pistol is a model made by Kimber years ago. The upper is of course is stainless steel Kimber the lower is actually an Israeli Bul M5. The early versions were called"polymer custom". With this model the insert in the polymer was stainless steel. The later models like the one you own had aluminum inserts. Google Bul-M5 for more information. I've had mine since the original article in Guns and Ammo reviewed it when the pistol first came out. I have had zero problems with mine, and I reload for it. I have just over 7000 rounds through mine. I would not trade the pistol for any other model 45. The Originals again all stainless steel are very accurate. It's a little heavier but the advantage of the polymer is that the grip radius is much smaller then a Para Ordnance Double Stack. This was one of the biggest selling points that Guns & Ammo pointed out resulting in my purchase. Google Israeli M5 for more information the pistol is still for sale. Sorry discontinued for 2018 out of Isreal's Bul catalog. Sad to see it go, but let's face it, new and better things are out there. Nice run 2003-2017. PS: Charles Daley imported the same Bul-M5 for his use, just as Kimber did.

I have shot thousands of rounds of the Federal American Eagle ammo in 45 cal through various firearms and I never noticed the amount or size of the cloud of burnt powder that was coming out of this gun while he was shooting it. Did they change powders recently for the American Eagle line since they're introducing the new American Eagle Syntech?

You can't go wrong with a .45 ACP and you can't go wrong with a Kimber. Although I'll pick my Eclipse Custom 2 any day when it comes to Kimbers (or 1911s in general), I would feel confident defending my loved ones, self, property, home, valuables, business, etc... with this gun. I remember seeing ads by Kimber in gun magazines in the late 1990s and early 2000s that displayed several 1911s, one of which was a high capacity, polymer frame gun but I seem to remember it with a different model number. Did they make another polymer 1911 or is this the one I'm thinking of?
I liked what I saw of Chad"s FNX .45 Tactical but, for a tactical .45 ACP with a threaded barrel, long slide, high capacity mags, accessories, etc... I'll still pick the H&K USP .45 Tactical I think. In all fairness, I've never handled (much less fired) an FNX so......

There's not too many higher capacity .45's out there. I like my gen3 glock 21sf for this reason. 13+1 is pretty nice.

This video made me use the google. Para ordnance double stack 1911s are awesome. The black ops threaded barrel is only $1450.

    Hey Eric,
i'm from Germany and i really enjoy your videos. Our ministry of defense recently announced, that the G36 has no future in the German armed forces because of reliability issues. (If thats really the case is up for discussion) Now that Germany is looking for a new standard service rifle i am interested in what you think a good, or maybe even perfect service rifle should be like. Caliber, barrel length, features, etc. Maybe you could do a discussion round with Chad?
    Greetings from Germany!

Hey Eric, any chance you could get your hands on a FAMAS to show us? I'd love to hear about that weapon from you, but I hear they're pretty rare to find in the US :C

a CZ-75 with polymer, steel, and aluminum sounds like it would have less recoil, but a stronger frontal push because because of the low ass friction caused by the metal used for the slide .3.
