Really fun video and loved the content here. I don't think any new 3 woods would have edged out the Sim2 in this test.. but really disappointed the new Mizuno STG wasn't in the mix here.
I’m right there with you on fw’s. In the last 12 years I’ve had 2 3W; a TE Exotics and a TSi3. The Exotics went 8 years until face fracture, the TSi3 does everything I want or need, it’s not leaving my bag in foreseeable future, especially once I fitted a Speeder NX shaft. Im unlike you folks in that I rarely change any clubs in bag. I seem to get new driver every 3 years, my irons are decade old Miura’s and my driving irons are U84 Srixon’s which are now at least 3 generations of di’s old. I do change wedges annually and seem to change putters at least 2-3 times annually, though mostly I’m just cycling through the 30 or so putters in my closet. Every time I 3putt it’s always the instrument, not the conductor 🤣🤣
Look at the archives. There are a lot of videos. Also the explanations he gives for why things happen is amazing. Welcome to the best channel on RUclips
I had the original 07 burner for well over a decade. Only 3 wood Ive ever had that I could hit high when needed. Ever since it died Ive had a low spin 5w like Ian's and a higher spin 7w. Just added a G430 9w to my bag to replace my 4h and like it a lot thus far.
Love the rotational clubs. I have a 7w that the 3 hybrid struggles to push out of the bag. And a 2 iron that only ever gets a run on links when it’s blowing a hoolie! Strong G410 5 wood holds it’s place in the bag as it plays like and angry 4 wood.
Hi guys, love the video I have a question In the old video sim ti VS sim2 ti seen you guys hitting with another shaft driving it 289 total Didn’t you use that shaft as your regular set? Is there a reason like needing the right gap? Or that shaft isn’t stable enough for you? Thank you
At the end, Ian says the 3w is about 265 and 5w is about 240. I wonder what his next club his? 4 iron? Which would be, at his speed, around 210 carry? Seems like 30 yards between the longest iron and 5w is a bit much. Im sure he's tried 7w but that may be a better fit, at his speed.
I also tried the new stealth 2 Fairway woods and they were very floaty /non penatrating flight. Came up way short vs my tsi2 3 wood. Don't fix what ain't broke I guess
With all the adjustability of the Stealth 2+, why not try a different setting? Seems like you just needed to push the weight forward and you would have gotten the flight you wanted.
Agreed! With the 50 gram weight in the Stealth 2 Plus all the way forward, there is a zero percent chance that it is floaty. That’s how Rory plays his 3w (and so do I)… absolute missile!
I still rock the Adams Speedline Hybrid 3 & 5 wood. I reshafted them and they perform almost better then the new ones. My 3 wood averages 272 but if I rip into it harder I can get it to 290.
I’m still using my Mavrik 3w. It works and no new 3w has really made me want to change. I know the goal of club fitters is to sell clubs but sometimes what is in the bag is just fine.
Have you hit the SuperH? It’s massive sole plate is a recipe for high launch & spin. That’s its design intent, an approach club that lands steep & soft. It’s not a rocket, it’s a club that flies average length relative to loft but is higher flying for softer landing. If you’re a hybrid fan and want a bomber, try the Callaway UW. Low launch, low spin, longest flying hybrid I’ve ever hit for a relative loft. Not the wisest choice for approach club unless you’re a links player but it’s definitely the rocket launcher among hybrids. Biggest downside is it’s not overly versatile, more difficult to shape shots. The SuperH is super easy to shape nearly any shot.
That's what I ended up doing. I have the older Callaway Apex UW 5 (19) and 7 (21) - absolutely love them. But I went with the 2 SuperH, down to 15 degrees with a fairway wood shaft to keep the launch and spin lower (Hzrdus Black, same as in my UWs). Fits in perfectly for me - 4h carries 210, 3h carries 225, 2SH carries 245 (and like @MichaelM-to4sg said it lands a little softer). I hit it great off the deck and tee, and I just never found a comfortable 3w for off the deck. For reference I'm a 50 yo 2 index with driver clubhead speed around 105.
Fun vid but no surprise. Those fairways have fit him so uniquely well. I look forward to you guys putting them up against the new ones from TM and others in a couple months!!
Fw the hardest to get right. 75xx hof shaft for me in 3 and 7wood. 260 and 235 yards perfect arch flight 90 feet high and then can know where ball going to land. Can hit 283 and 250 no problems
I liked the Tsr2 + he hit more than the other new ones, BUT... the SIM2 TI is working better than all of them. Why change what isn't broken? I struggled finding a 3 wood for last 3 years. Owned them all. This year the Tsr2, is the best one working for me. Easiest to hit off the deck and it's just as easy off the Tee. Haven't tried the plus model yet but who knows. Like Ian, I play my fwy's 1/2 short of new standard. Easier to hit.
Gotta ask the obvious question and see why the people Tensei white 1k in his current 3w was not tested in the newer heads? It was very clear from the beginning that TZ5 was not the answer Also where was the weight for stealth 2+? And it was tested at 15* compared to everything else at 13.5 or lower
I don't understand trying to fit a better player with some speed into a 61 gram (uncut) shaft into a 3 wood when he is already gaming something heavier. We know shaft weight is probably the most important factor in fitting so I am not surprised that none of those options beat the gamer. A better fitting would have been try the heads with the gamer shaft or something similar in weight and profile unless he was hitting his gamer poorly.
Guys… the recent video thumbnails… 😂 it’s like stuff from my sons junk he likes to watch. What marketing genius came up with the idea you guys, one of the more technical and knowledgeable golf review channels, should have your faces in the thumbnails look like you’ll be testing the best slime recipe or opening Pokémon card packs? It’s an odd fit to me, but do always enjoy your content 👍
We've had a ton of players transition to have 3 woods. You're even starting to see more 9 woods earning a spot in people's bags! You just have to find out what works best for you as an individual.
Why is every golf I know wedded to at least one of their f woods? Every bag I see even baalers who change drivers and putters and irons every other month .
I really don't understand why Mikey put in an Accra TZ 6X shaft in the Stealth2 Plus, and then say "It was too spinny., and baloons." Why not put the same Tensei White 70X in the Stealth 2 Plus?? Of course a 6X shaft in a 3 Wood is going to be more spinny than a Tensei White 70X, that is made for low spin low launch and heavier weight. Seems pretty biased. Plus, like NOBODY on tour uses Accra, but fitters just love suggesting Accra for some reason. And then go on to say the woods feel sledge hammers? No duhh shirlock. I don't get it, please explain the logic.
Out of interest why were you only testing with shafts in the weight range of 62-72 grams when Ian's gamer is 75 grams. Will make a massive difference to how he times it up
What a saturday morning. I started this video on 0.5x not on purpose and it sounds amazing. 😂 sounds like you lads have had a few drinks 😂😂
Bro just tried it and I’m laughing my butt off
Really fun video and loved the content here. I don't think any new 3 woods would have edged out the Sim2 in this test.. but really disappointed the new Mizuno STG wasn't in the mix here.
Aerojet LS is a pretty hot 3 wood. Would’ve been interesting to see that in the mix
Curious to see how the Mizuno STG 3 wood in the comparison
Agreed. Feels like for what he’s looking for, that’s what STG is built for
Surprised it wasn’t considered
Why didn’t you try Mizuno STG? It has a sole plate and forward weight similar to the Sim 2 ti.
my thought exactly, mizuno knew the assignment to make a launcher
I agree as well. Tested it in my bay and the numbers were phenomenal. Curious why he didn't try all these with his tensei white.
Reminds me of the ole Rapture Ti 3 wood from back in the day! That thing was hot hot hot.
Surprised you didn't put the new Mizuno in the options... It's pretty similar to the Sim Ti with the sole plate I feel like?
I’m right there with you on fw’s. In the last 12 years I’ve had 2 3W; a TE Exotics and a TSi3. The Exotics went 8 years until face fracture, the TSi3 does everything I want or need, it’s not leaving my bag in foreseeable future, especially once I fitted a Speeder NX shaft.

I would have liked to see Ian using his Tensei 1K with the other heads. that seems to suit him so well.
Love seeing Mikey talk through and command the fit. Hearing why those were the specific choices were so great
Why not test the st-g with his 70x white tensei? That things a bomber!
Excellent fitting w a difficult client 😂 great job Mikey!
I was hoping to see the Mizuno ST-G FW in the line up!!! Guess this was probably filmed before it was released???
Same - went low spinning heads and didnt hit that one. Seems like a miss
Why didn’t Ian try the Mizuno?
With the club fitting so well, would it not be a good case to try the same shaft in different heads?
Why not the mizuno titanium? I loved this video. I’m just hoping I love the mizuno myself
The information on this channel is phenomenal would like to see some more high handicapper content!!!
Look at the archives. There are a lot of videos. Also the explanations he gives for why things happen is amazing. Welcome to the best channel on RUclips
Agreed! Can not understand how this channel does not have over a !M Subscribers.
Heck of a swing, Ian. Looks great.
The mizuno stg 3 wood was so good when I tested it
I have a rogue st ls fairway with an aldila tx shaft heavier weight in the bottom it’s an animal of a club

Ian doesn’t want a 3w. He wants a mini driver lol. Sitting here looking at 3200-3500 for 3w and I’m like hey that’s nice lol
For sure. Setting them at 13 degrees and under 3k spin sounds like at least a 2 wood
Where was the Mizuno STG?
Very surprised you didnt test the aerojet ls 3 wood turned down to 13°. That is a rocket
I game the same head with tensei blue and love it. So long,
How do we get to get a club fitting from you guys?
Sim TI is a bomber, but I prefer the TSR2+ (14.5) with the fuller-sized head for tee shots and still fine off the deck.
Hi guys, love the video
I have a question
In the old video sim ti VS sim2 ti seen you guys hitting with another shaft driving it 289 total
Didn’t you use that shaft as your regular set?
Is there a reason like needing the right gap?
Or that shaft isn’t stable enough for you?
Thank you
I still play an i20, and you'd need to pry it out of my bag. However, g430 might dislodge it when the price comes down a little.
Why was the custom bent Stealth 2 not included? I want that bad boy!
Good stuff wee man!!! As a rule should AoA be up on a 3w off the deck??? Seemed it was here?? And presumably up off a tee??
I'm still gaming a Cobra F8/Tensei blue shaft set at 13° because i can shape it how i want and on windy days it keeps up with most Drivers I've gamed.
IAn, what's the length of your 3 wood 42'' 42''5 ?
I also tried the new stealth 2 Fairway woods and they were very floaty /non penatrating flight. Came up way short vs my tsi2 3 wood. Don't fix what ain't broke I guess

Your back and forth banter is so entertaining. It sounds just like the group I play with👍
I still rock the Adams Speedline Hybrid 3 & 5 wood. I reshafted them and they perform almost better then the new ones. My 3 wood averages 272 but if I rip into it harder I can get it to 290.
I don’t think it’s the club that is causing the low strike. It’s the positive AoA w 3w.
But that is his swing at this point. The idea isn't that the club causes the problem but that the club helps minimize the swing flaw.
@@scottgibbs7235Not that hard to change aoa
Ian i saw you hit a 3wood from the tips at Brampton GC last friday... nice shot ! which 3wood was it?
I think this vid should have answered that question
I had one of these and swapped it out for the Stealth+ bc I loved the black/red.
Should have never done it 😢
I’m still using my Mavrik 3w. It works and no new 3w has really made me want to change. I know the goal of club fitters is to sell clubs but sometimes what is in the bag is just fine.
How about tsr3?
Will you guys be reviewing the new Takomo Woods?
Why no Aerojet ?
I have the sim 2 ti 3 and 5 wood and love them. I
Would a Callaway Super 2H turned down come close or not really? I feel like those are rocket hybrids.
Have you hit the SuperH? It’s massive sole plate is a recipe for high launch & spin. That’s its design intent, an approach club that lands steep & soft. It’s not a rocket, it’s a club that flies average length relative to loft but is higher flying for softer landing.

The sim2 max HL is amazing
Why no Mizuno?
No data at the end?
Crazy that pros covet a 3 wood like it’s the holy grail and ametures rarely even use a 3 wood
I play the sim2 ti, best club ever!
I think bro actually likes the paint job more than the others.
The thumbnail is hilarious …. Reminds me of eBay when I open it with so many goodies to try 😂🤦♂️

i have a sim 1 ti and its thew closest thing to the old rbz ive found.. THAT [rbz] was a fckn cannon lol.. im still convinced it was illegal
I’m assuming that your gamer is a tour issued one correct?
Y not try the tensi in them
15:36 - TRUTH
Nice to hear a fitter who makes his money selling you new clubs say this.
“We both play older models…” I play a TaylorMade R7 😂
I'm sure all the other heads are fine, that didn't seem like the right shaft for him. He has the right shaft in the Sim2.
Wtf... Where was the Mizuno ST-G?
I don't understand trying to fit a better player with some speed into a 61 gram (uncut) shaft into a 3 wood when he is already gaming something heavier. Mizzy STG?
In Mikey We Trust.
He should go burner mini driver 13.5
It’s a no brainer….
The Triple Diamond is the best. It ain't the club that's the issue. It's the bias of going in knowing what he wants.
Stealth plus 3 wood just may knock out the Sim 2 Ti
Guys… the recent video thumbnails… 😂 it’s like stuff from my sons junk he likes to watch.

Hard to beat the Sim 2, but my TSR2 knocked my SIM 2 out.
No mizuno very surprising.
no mizuno....hmm would have thought it would be an easy replacement.
You guys ever have players using 3 fairway woods? 3,5,7 - with the 7 being more like a 4i for guys that hate hybrids?
We've had a ton of players transition to have 3 woods. You're even starting to see more 9 woods earning a spot in people's bags! You just have to find out what works best for you as an individual.

I know what you’ll test. AI One hot white putter 😆😆😆
Koelpin Island
Mizzy? titanium plate fairway metal? Mikey
Schmeler Bypass
No Mizuno? Seemed like the obvious choice.
In the course of this video being filmed edited and uploaded Ian changed his fairways 6 times
Phoebe Island
Magdalen Keys
My goodness, they sure seem like nice guys.
Feel like you guys are losing your way with the content lately, but look forward to seeing some new equipment testing….
