Follow me as I take a British Airways A319, sitting down the back of the bus, on a spring evening flight back to Heathrow from Hamburg.
A perfectly okay flight, with nothing remarkable - but nonetheless an efficient and easy way to get between Germany and Britain.
Let me know what you think of BA's Buy On Board policy....
I hope you like the video - don't forget to leave a comment - I do read them all!

Nice trip report Paul! It is currently 2am here in Texas, but it was worth it to be one of the first viewers! Looking forward to the q and a video. Have a great day Paul! ✈️
Cheers Paul. Another great report; the empty row brings back memories of a LHR-GLA flight where I was one of only two pax on a Trident III. Unbelievably they issued us with boarding cards for adjacent seats.
I went from Hamburg to Heathrow on way home from staying with my brother & his partner in Roth near Nuremberg in July 2014. I flew from Nuremberg to Hamburg in a Air Berlin aircraft then transferred to BA (which was Air Berlin's partner at the time) at Hamburg.
It was really a good trip giving me view of Hamburg and London. Sadly, Air Berlin no longer be in business but one of the good airline for Germany nerveless.
Another good one Paul ! looking forward to that BA First to Houston.....hope BA don't disappoint
Loved the sharp editing and all the related clips between 3.12 and 3.51. Great vid as always! Ta.
Hi, another great video. Would you do westjet, Glasgow to Halifax. A 737-700 is the aircraft they usually use, would be an interesting report.
Once again another great video keep up the good work.
Craig.
+Craig Colligan Thanks Craig. I'll see how I feel about seven hours on a 737!
It's around 5 to 6 hours and is actually no problem at all, Paul. BTW, they now use 737-800 aircraft. Very cheap flights. As a bonus, Halifax is a great city and you'd enjoy being there!
Those views of London while on hold never get boring each time! Another awesome report Paul, looking forward to the First Class report to IAH :)
Brendan
Nice to see the lounge at HAM, which I never get to see ;-)
Regards from Germany!
Nice vid. Hope you found your luggage after landing as BA is world's best airline in terms of missing baggage !
Hey Paul! You're comin to H-town? That's awesome! I'll give you a fact about the a319! Did you know that at cruising height the a319 can elongate 4 to 6 inches in length? Watch a Texans game if you get the chance!!
New Sub.. Your Rail Reports are the Best ;)
+Kevin Duval Thanks Kevin! 👌🏻
Great Video again Paul
Nick Jones Thanks!
Nice one Paul. Hamburg is on my list of destinations. I've been before for work but never had time to enjoy the city. Did you go for the weekend?
Funny how about 2 weeks ago I was in Hamburg airport on my way to London flying EasyJet. The EasyJet staff members were soo rude handling other customers, felt so bad for them.
You always make economy look more fun that it really is with your videos. I'm wondering, what made you pick a seat so far back ? Last minute booking ? Or you just wanted a better view ?
+When I Travel The World Cheers James. A few reasons. One, no wing obscuring the view. Two, a better chance of a free seat or row. Three, I always get a place to stow my bag. :-)
Nice one.what plane are you doing next
Really enjoyed this video, what did you think of seat 23f, I saw the window alignment was good, did the toilets get annoying and I guess the seats didn't recline?
Thanks, Paul for the smooth landing. Does BA charge extra for seat selection? Some U.S. airlines have started that loathsome practice.
Jon Brown Yes they do. It's £15 Per Person Each Way
Thank you.
Jon Brown Yes they have done for a few years. However that's standard practice across Europe for most carriers, even big legacy ones. The cost varies by route and cabin class and can be anything from £8 to about £80 (yes they charge in international business!). It is a dumb practice but I always get free seat selection on BA as a Gold member, unless I travel on a hand baggage only fare in which case even then they want more money off me. Meh!
Thanks, Paul.
happy sunday
TOBLEROWAN123 Best day of the week :-)
As always, a nice Trip Report!
What is your opinion on Hamburg Airport?
Jp Kiel Thanks! I like Hamburg. It's a no-fuss airport. Been a few times now.
Really enjoyed this trip report, thank you! Regarding buy-on-board-meals, I am totally against it! Customers will just have another reason to favour BA's competitors. As a Gold member, I believe snacks are complementary
If only BA would do what AA does for elites when flying in Economy, it would go a long way
+When I Travel The World No chance of that. It's just Ryanair with a Union Jack on the tail now, at least on SH anyway.
One can only dream !
I have experienced inconsistency with AA as well. As Gold member with BA (so Emerald with AA), I receive complementary snacks in economy on some flights but on other flights, they say "Platinum holders only". Miscommunication somewhere on their part.
+Zuhair Farouk It is only for AA EXP. No entitlement for BA Golds written down anywhere. But, because their manifest often identifies OneWorld Emeralds as EXPs you'll find you get the goodies.
Great Video! Which equipment do you used for filming this?
+Ralph Baeurer Thanks Ralph. This was filmed on iPhone.
Hi Paul, can you let me know what sort of camera you use for your reports ?
Thanks and keep going or better... flying 😀
+Marco Imstepf Thanks Marco. It's an iPhone 7 plus.
Great video, Paul. Thanks for the "come along". May I ask you? Where did you get your background music from? Cheers, Peter.
+strafrag1 Thanks Peter. I get the music from a few places, but always RUclips channels. Czech Vibes Sound and Bass Rebels are two good channels.
Thanks so much, Paul. Cheers.
Will be flying BA 747 from Heathrow to Nairobi, economy, this summer so sorry to read all these comments about declines in BA service. Might be a very long flight!
What's your favourite airline ever thanks
Nice vid
丅ᗩRANPAL DHALIWAL Thanks :-)
Can you go to Boston on the BA A380 first class
+Blaze Does Things I already have two BA A380 F videos on my channel :-)
isnt it a edelweiß a320?
Will you be doing a trip report on the Eurostar?
+Trainspotting 123 I will at some point. Not sure if I can squeeze it in this year though!
Oh ok!
Paul's Trip Reports Hey Paul just wanted to see how your week is going, hope you are doing well and having safe travels! Looking forward to your trip to Texas. I live in Texas, I don't know if you have ever been there before, if not feel free to ask me any questions. (only if you want to). Have a great day!
Can you do Etihad next
Finlay Hedderman I am looking at options to try and fly Etihad residences next year some time. It's expensive!
is their a A319 ife system
+king cars No, unless you count a moving map as IFE. :-)
