Love the video, but I wanted to correct one piece of information. The iliacus does NOT go from the spine to the front of the hip. The Psoas goes from the spine to the hip, where it joins the iliacus which lays on the inside part of the hip known as the ilium. When the psoas and iliacus come together in the hip they become known as iliopsoas and attach on the front, outside part of the hip.

My question is that when you are releasing your psoas you normally bend the knees in supine to relax the rectus ab and psoas. When you are on your belly and your legs are stretched down (possibly pointed toes) you are stretching your psoas to the max (for general public) How ever do you get to the illiacus in that position with all those stretched stuff covering it? This is an honest, curious question. Thank you!
I was able to use it effectively exactly one time. Yes I watched the instructions and it seems to help but it has been well over a week since my first use and all the tissue surrounding that area hurts. The skin feels like it is being burned every time I try to use it now so I can't effectively us it without being in severe pain. I am also assuming it has caused internal bruising around that area since it all hurts and not in a good way. Furthermore at $200 (yes, if you aren't already aware this device costs $200) it is Overpriced in a way that I really don't understand. Its not made with rare earth metals or space age materials so why is it so expensive? I could maybe see a PT clinic having one of these but when considering the price, effectiveness and potential for injury I would steer clear of this. On the brightside, you can return it so if you don't mind putting $200 up as collateral so you can "test" the device you might as well give it a shot. P.S. were you compensated to review this? I don't see anywhere on your channel or this video stating that you aren't compensated for reviews. Just hoping for some transparency here. Thanks!

Don't know if you're going to see this, but your comment about martial arts prompted me to write this. I think I do have an illio-psoas problem but my pain spot is different. From a standing position, lift one knee to 90° perpendicular to the floor, my pain spot is right at the fulcrum of my thigh & my body. It’s a little less versatile than the pso rite as with that you can use it on other parts of your body but for specifically targeting the psoas and iliacus, this is way better.
I have the Pso-Rite and it's a completely different feeling! The initial just laying on the device feels similar, but once you activate the hook portion it feels like it's doing so much more, which it is because its an entirely different muscle that the pso-rite can't get to.

The iliacus does NOT attach to the spine! It connects the ilium to the femur. And you are definitely not targeting your iliacus when you are working superiorly to the ASIS up near the lower ribs. This is all so wrong.

You can do that just as well with your own hand, and the same goes for the psoas itself, though I found a PSO-Rite decent if you want to use body weight. @@kroojinder Yes, I've used this and did find it great for getting at my iliacus, but not that much better than a lacrosse ball. For my psoas i just use my hands. (Or if I'm lucky, the hands or elbows of a pro)
@@sandrabrown9127 I have one. If you are consistent in your approach it helps to relieve lumbar pain from sitting too much, tight hip flexor/quad complex, etc. The key is everyday use, to see true effects. Does it replace an aggressive hip flexor stretch with glute drive? No. I say aggressive as in back leg foot propped up on couch, chair, bar in a rack, etc., down leg rest right above knee on ground, good upright posture from there, and glute drive of down leg. If you can do all of that for 30-60 sec with glute drive you are good to go. All of that is tough for most people, so this modality can offer some benefit. You also have to enjoy pain to an extent. If you are not a fan of trigger point work then this is not for you.
I have a herniated disc and everytime I go to the chiro he tells me that my sacroilliac is out. I have a lot of pain in my back which also shoots down my legs. Will this help relieve my pain and spend less time and money at the chiro?
I'm not a medical professional so please don't take anything I say as medical advice, but I believe your chiro is likely referring to your SI joint, which is the point where your spine and pelvis meet - you likely feel pain when you sit up from a chair if you have issues with this. Your iliacus stabilizes this joint and could very well be at the root of your issues. The Hip Hook has a 60-day guarantee so I see no harm whatsoever in seeing if this resolves some of your issues and saves you from future trips to the chiropractor!
the iliacus goes from the spine to your hip? no it does not. maybe review your anatomy before making a video the iliacus goes from the crest of your pelvis to the upper femur
In this video I incorrectly called the A.S.I.S., the ASIS. Each letter is pronounced individually!

You can do that just as well with your own hand, and the same goes for the psoas itself, though I found a PSO-Rite decent if you want to use body weight. Another issue I take with this device is that they never tell your how to distinguish between the inguinal ligament and the surrounding muscle groups, so there's a good chance folks are just jamming this device right into connective tissue, or even worse, the femoral vein & artery.
@@kroojinder Yes, I've used this and did find it great for getting at my iliacus, but not that much better than a lacrosse ball. For my psoas i just use my hands. (Or if I'm lucky, the hands or elbows of a pro)
@@lizhutchinson6978 that's good if you know what you are doing! :)
Any cheaper tools out there ?
for this specifically, not that I'm aware of. Pso-Rite is similar but shouldn't be confused as it doesn't target the same area.
Obviously a paid reviewer.
I cannot find any review for this item that is not part of their marketing strategy.
@@sandrabrown9127 I have the Hip Hook. It has been more helpful than the Pso-Rite and a foam tool designed for the same purpose.
How is it obvious?
you're obviously a horribly negative person
FYI, I saw a video today from the founder of Hip Hook where she explicitly states the iliacus is the cause of SI joint pain.
This company is price gouging. That toy is $200…
200$?

👍
Price gouging for sure
It is over over overpriced
$199
Did you steal your intro from @gregdoucette or the other way around?
@@mandelbrotm619 haha I’ve heard this comment a lot over the years. Mine is from an editor on Fiverr so guessing his is as well 😂
Is this paid content?
the iliacus goes from the spine to your hip? no it does not. maybe review your anatomy before making a video
the iliacus goes from the crest of your pelvis to the upper femur
This doesn’t seem like a review, more like a how to. Paid content
@@achilles88 not paid content
