When I was a kid I was obsessed with black and white (and B2W2). Them adding Meloetta was cool enough, but doing this mysterious hidden easter egg battle was great. As someone that grew up with Gen 5 this literally feels like a love letter from Gamefreak. My only problem is that I wish it didn't have the generic battle music when you fought it in this game.
Fun little thing for those that care about this kind of stuff, if you use your camera close enough to see her, you can see her do a little dance and actually sing as her mouth is animated to the song! Was a neat little detail I found.
There was actually an NPC in Classroom 3-2 who talked about spinning in place in a windy area of the Terarium. I had a feeling that was important, but I didn't know where it was talking about at the time, so I put it aside. I certainly dont know where the sepia filter came in, though. It probably had to do with another NPC hint, though.
@@Merik2013 During the gen 5 event for Meloetta, the NPC talks about his long ago encounter with it being a 'sepia-toned memory' from what I remember of it/seen people recalling. @@_whitnii_ sepia filter was also just a way that pictures from old timey cameras came out for a while before camera technology was advanced enough to capture color. saying something like "sepia-toned memories" would be akin to saying something like memories from a bygone era, or memories from the ancient past.

There is an island very near to where the galarian slowpokes spawn, that also has swirling-like waves surrounding it. I wonder if that might be for another Mythical
Hopefully we'll get more encounters like this in future Pokemon games for other mythicals. Also, there's a cute lion king reference in the game. There's a rock in the savanna biodome that has a Pyroar on top and he's looking out over the fields. There's also a Litleo on the rock. The rock is a little north of the savanna plaza. You can't miss it.
I’m very excited about this. I just got back into Pokemon within the last few years, so there’s a small list of Pokemon that I’ve never owned like Zeraora, Zarude, Diancie… basically most of the event Pokemon. So I’m really stoked to finally be able to add this one to my Pokédex.

Hey I know this is unrelated to the video but I literally just did this and wanted to put it out there; if you fly all the way to the top of the giant orb in the Terarium there’s a gold bottle cap, an ability patch, and 50 stellar tera shards sitting there
I loved all the gen5 music in this dlc because it pulled on my nostalgia a lot since BW is when I got into Pokémon, and damn that meloetta tune is beautiful
Oh my god, that method wasn’t a joke They actually programmed that into the game And I thought Runerigus’ evolution method was stupidly obscure and specific …and it still is
I've got plenty of Meloetta's. I'll likely just start the event to hear it sing as I'm traveling by every now and then. I really hope GameFreak does more of this in the future. Imagine if to encounter Victini we had beat 10 Online players in a row, or to encounter Volcannion we had to have both fire and water type Pokemon on our team and had to use both a fire and water type attack in a battle.
No to the Victini one because paywall. DLC doesn’t count as a paywall because you’re paying for the game (ONCE) not the Pokémon (which you can still transfer in thanks to a free update), online is a paywall because you have to pay for a (MONTHLY) SUBSCRIPTION just to connect to the internet (that you’re already paying for), essentially meaning you have to pay for internet twice. Victini can still be battle based but still should be available to offline/solo players. Maybe a victory chain in the game’s version of the battle tower/academy tournament or whatever could unlock it. Otherwise, yes, I agree that they should do more of these kinds of secret mythical events.
@@SakuraLovesong Honestly, I hate PvP, so I would hate this method for getting Victini as well. I mostly just gave it as an example. There's tons of other ways, like the Battle Tower idea you suggested. The only reason I suggested PvP is because it fits with Victini's theme, which is the Victory Pokemon. I don't know how well Battle Tower or such would really convey that idea, which is a shame because I REALLY don't want to do online stuff with other players. Too many ways to ruin the game for other people. Also, if DLC isn't considered paywalling, then nether would having to buy older games and older consoles to obtain older Pokemon, or having to buy both versions of a generation and multiple Switches to get all version exclusives. It's a slippery slope. If you declare one thing exempt, there's going to be more and more people and/or companies trying to push the exemption clause by making the slightest alteration in hopes it passes. As the old saying goes "If you give an inch they take a mile". I consider anything that is paid to be paywalling.Don't matter if I pay for it or not, someone somewhere had to pay for something in order for me to get the thing I wanted.
@@SealFormulaMaster If you look at it that way, then literally every Pokémon is paywalled because you have to buy the game to get any at all. And like I said, free update allows the Pokémon to be transferred in or obtained through trade without buying the DLC. So, still not a paywall since there are ways you can still get the DLC Pokémon without paying extra. Also, you don’t need multiple switches. Just transfer through Home. And a majority of people have the older games anyway, soo… I’ve actually seen someone say in another video comment section (can’t recall what video) that what a paywall really is is when certain content in a free to play game is locked behind paid transactions and the term does not apply to games that are purchased to begin with, which honestly makes sense. (Which would also mean NSO isn’t technically a paywall, but having to essentially pay for internet twice is still stupid and unfair). But I don’t want to start a fight over this. We at least seem to agree on forced player interactions being obnoxious and other methods being applicable to obtaining Victini. So, let’s leave this on a friendly note.
Thanks so much, saw an Instagram video with someone saying it had to be in a specific bush, but it was the wrong spot. Got my Meloetta in a friend ball!
Thanks man! Really was looking for meloetta this whole time. Also, you can get a secret cutscene at the crystal pool in kitakami with terapagos in your party.
Mine didn't change to Pirouette form during the fight because I brought my Ceruledge 😂 Knowing the gen 5 lore really made this whole method cooler than it had any right to be though, the only cryptic part is reaching the exact spot but the rest makes perfect sense. I got shivers when she started singing 💜
I’m kinda amazed that someone actually figured it out. And what’s crazy is that even though it seems really arbitrary, it actually makes sense if you remember the Meloetta event from Gen 5
Could of sworn I saw a NPC actually talk about this, may have been in a classroom or in the savanna or coastal biome but they didn't mention a Pokemon spawning
An npc in the second classroom (3-2) mentions dpinning in a windy area. Clearly it was hinting at this, but I dont know how we're supposed to figure out the sepia filter step. Theres probably another npc somewhere that talks abput camera filters maybe.
Thanks! Great Video I actually have Meloetta in GO! I am looking forward to capturing her in an actual game. For the record I truly believe Luxury Ball fits Meloetta perfectly.
If you’re making a video of Easter eggs, Pride Rock from The Lion King is in the Terrarium. There’s even a male Pyroar at the tip of it. I was cracking up lmao. Also, the charge stone caves seems like a Pokémon Snap throwback.
I got mine a few hours ago, I just want to know who at Nintendo was like "ahhh yess, how about to get this Pokemon, you must go to this location, then spin for at least 25ish seconds then open your camera, then change your filter to a perticular one as reference to one of our old games, then not tell anyone where or how to do this"
I was wondering what that student in Blueberry Classroom was saying, I quote “I was traveling among the mellows, when suddenly the wind started blowing. I thought I heard someone singing” I was like, this has to be an event or post game content but because it was a white text box (yellow being usual smt for you) I thought nothing of it
This is probably the only legendary/mythical shiny locked mon im excited for. Just for the simple fact its in the game and can be caught is just simply awesome.
Even if you faint her, don’t worry, just be patient and come back later, she will automatically be there. I caught her with a regular poke ball lol it was fun
I've been bored playing Indigo Disk after playing the main storyline, and your videos have really got me excited again. I caught Meloetta on my second throw! Lol.
I love when it takes the community a while to figure out how to find/evolve a pokemon. Watching Discords pre-SV and people trying to figure out Palafin was a good time lol

I love you. Meloetta is my favorite mythic. Some notes: spin between 10 and 30 seconds and do this during the day it's hard to find the spot at night or doesn't appear.
It's so sad that even with things like that in the game, due to Internet, it's juste straight up no longer possible to have a "Mew under the truck" these days. 😔
This was such a God sent! Thank you for this. I struggled the first time getting this pokemon that i ended up stopping and resetting. Ended up getting the Pokémon on the 2nd attempt.
Thank you so much for the guide! It was tricky finding the spot but I ended up getting mine on the second try, WITH A FRIEND BALL. I threw a bunch of pokeballs before but I still find it amusing. Thank you!
There is a cryptic clue to this in one of the classrooms. Some of the kids talk about how there is a windy spot and it would be lots of fun to spin around there.
Spinning in the cyclone and the sepia filter are clearly references to the Wizard of Oz, since part of Meloetta’s lore is that it lost its Ruby Slippers.

@Twili8697 click your left stick while gliding and you'll enter full flight.
@@Yoba-WanKanobi sadly no, they don't respawn
I couldn't help but cry tears of joy when Meloetta started singing. A part of my childhood coming back in such a amazing form, it's breathtaking.
It's actually a beautiful way to encounter a pokemon. Just like encountering shaymin in Legends Arceus
Awesome game
you can???????
i didnt know
I hope they keep it going with making all these mythicals available regardless of when you do it. Victini next ? 😊
The sepia filter is a refrence to a mention of Meloetta from the Unova games, its so sick!
I really wish they'd do more things like this. It's really reminiscent of the OG days with real secrets, and things that immerse you into the world. Looooove it
yeh but it feels impossible to figure out. i wonder how this person figured it out. Like so many things you have to get right or it wont be triggered without any clues in the game
@strateeg32 There are clues! The only part that isn't given to you by an npc is the sepia filter I think...
That's a reference to a line in the Gen 5 games during Meloetta's event. So it would be real hard to figure out but not impossible.
I do hope they scale it back a little, have the hints all given to you in the game itself.
Dude this is really cool! I’m glad they included this feels like the cryptic old days
She was always a favorite of mine due to the anime. Idk what it is, but her singing and her gimmick that she can calm even the angriest of pokemons through singing made her one of my most sought after mythicals. Had the event one but it wasn’t my OT. I’m glad they finally put her in the game
I can’t tell you how much I love this! Mew under the truck Gen 1 style!
Obviously I knew Mew wasn’t even really under the truck
So sad they didn’t do that in let’s go
@@5ashll303fr but imagine how angry people who payed for that poke ball controller would feel 😂
I hope they do more of these.
Give us a Mew Encounter like this!! Nit just a "here ya go!"
Do it for ALL Mythicals
@@zeusthefox1585They kinda keep the tradition of mythical Pokémon being random tho lol. Here are the random ways to obtain them:
-For Celebi and Jirachi you have to beat their respective Colloseum game (only in Japanese version btw)
-For Deoxys you have to beat the Delta Episode in Pokemon OR/AS, flying into space with Rayquaza to beat its a**
-For Manaphy you have to go to a random sea cave in Legend Arceus, then breed the Manaphy with a Ditto to get Phione egg.
-For Shaymin you have to do a mission to purify a flower garden in Legend Arceus, which reward you with a Gracidea and a Shaymin encounter
-For the Pokemon God himself you have to beat BD/SP or Legend Arceus (the one in BD/SP can be shiny while the one in LA cannot).
-For Keldeo you have to catch all three Swords of Justice by finding their footprints (which is already random by themselves), open a camp at a specific island in the Crown Tundra in Sw/Sh, cook some curry and it will appear randomly for an encounter.
-For Magearna you gotta watch the Pokemon Magearna movie, obtain a QR code, which when get scanned in US/UM will give you Magearna.
-For a G-Max Melmetal you have to transfer a Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home, which will reward you with a Melmetal Gift in Pokemon Home.
-For the shiny Zeraora over 1 million players had to beat it in the Raid Den in a set amount of days (and the players successfully did), which rewarded them with shiny Zeraora Gift in Pokemon Home.
"Oh, sorry, a snake is attacking me."
In any other context that statement is both confusing and terrifying.
The sepia thing came from a npc in black white. Yes not that many people will know that
@@danieldossantos6092 dear lord. It goes back that far? What did they say?
@@Merik2013 During the gen 5 event for Meloetta, the NPC talks about his long ago encounter with it being a 'sepia-toned memory' from what I remember of it/seen people recalling. At the time I think it was a hint about it having the form change, since it's 'hair' turns into that burnt orange color like a sepia tone, but it's super fun that they dipped back into it for this lil puzzle
@@_whitnii_ sepia filter was also just a way that pictures from old timey cameras came out for a while before camera technology was advanced enough to capture color. saying something like "sepia-toned memories" would be akin to saying something like memories from a bygone era, or memories from the ancient past.
This really does work. I tried it for myself and got a Meloetta. The steps for doing so though are really weirdly specific. I feel sorry for any kid playing the Pokemon scarlet and violet dlc without any internet.
"The scent you brought me reminded me of a long ago melody from the fringes of my sepia-toned memories" - guy from Pokemon Black/White who teaches Meloetta Relic Song.
For anyone wondering why it has to be the sepia filter.
There is an island very near to where the galarian slowpokes spawn, that also has swirling-like waves surrounding it. I wonder if that might be for another Mythical
I'd love to see this level of secrecy for every single legendary/mythical.
Had no idea meloetta was in the code. What a unique way to encounter this mythical pokemon.
That is the coolest thing ever! I got chills when you turned on the filter and the music started. I really hope Game Freak does more stuff like this.
The fact that they give us Meloetta and deprive us of Hoopa
This is so cool! To be honest, it really felt like those original like "HOW TO GET RAYQUAZA IN POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE" videos. I like this a lot.
Except this is real lmao 🤣
actually really cool way to include a pokemon. really feels like a homage to the mew under the truck stuff from the past like you mentioned. would love to see this implemented more
Hey I know this is unrelated to the video but I literally just did this and wanted to put it out there; if you fly all the way to the top of the giant orb in the Terarium there’s a gold bottle cap, an ability patch, and 50 stellar tera shards sitting there
I loved all the gen5 music in this dlc because it pulled on my nostalgia a lot since BW is when I got into Pokémon, and damn that meloetta tune is beautiful
I can confirm you have to spin clockwise. I tried counter clockwise and it didn't work after several tries, but got it clockwise first try.
Oh my god, that method wasn’t a joke
They actually programmed that into the game
And I thought Runerigus’ evolution method was stupidly obscure and specific
…and it still is
I've got plenty of Meloetta's.
I feel like you would need to win way more battles in a row, like go beat 100 wild Pokemon in the local area. It is the Victory Pokemon, after all.
@@SakuraLovesong It's not a monthly subscription lol, a year is $20
This helped a lot.
Never played the game she was in. Didn't know about her or the lore and rumors to get her. I'm so glad I got her. Thanks
I thought this was fake at first but then you post about it so I know it's real now😂😂😂
So I ended up getting a critical throw with a Dream Ball after failing with a few Love Balls. Really appreciate your guides.
True i had to keep resetting 😂
I’m so upset I just used an ultra ball 😭
Thanks so much, saw an Instagram video with someone saying it had to be in a specific bush, but it was the wrong spot. Got my Meloetta in a friend ball!
Man the second I saw this video I knew I had to find and catch me Melotta. She’s my all time favorite mythical pokemon.
Cold take: It shouldnt be shiny locked
Thanks man! Really was looking for meloetta this whole time. Also, you can get a secret cutscene at the crystal pool in kitakami with terapagos in your party.
hence me showing the title screen. I'm digging more to se if there's any post-event content before covering it in a video
You don't need terapagos in the team, you just need briars book
Mine didn't change to Pirouette form during the fight because I brought my Ceruledge 😂 Knowing the gen 5 lore really made this whole method cooler than it had any right to be though, the only cryptic part is reaching the exact spot but the rest makes perfect sense. I got shivers when she started singing 💜
This is awesome! They definitely need to do more of these in the future!
Much better then getting a lame code to get mythical in mystery gifts.
I'm loving this trend of mythical Pokemon becoming more and more accessible outside of a trip to GameStop.
I'm super excited because I didn't know how I would ever get a lot of these mythicals and i definitely needed this one. 🎉
You know it's not clickbait when it's Austin John's video
I have been wanting a meloetta for so long, and now i can finaly get one.
This is such a fun way to get Meloetta to spawn! I'm super excited to give it a try now :D
I’m kinda amazed that someone actually figured it out. And what’s crazy is that even though it seems really arbitrary, it actually makes sense if you remember the Meloetta event from Gen 5
Meloeta speedrun any% imagine lmao
We probably won't have to imagine much longer. I'm sure speedrunners will make this a thing.
Me who has 4 Master balls knowing full well I'll never find and other opportunities to use them: "might as well use one"
0:57 For a sec, I panicked thinking those were the requirements.
It's so cool seeing a mysterious event like that, but it's so sad that they had to shiny lock the legendaries
The Chargestone caves are exactly from Unova.
Ahhhhhhhhh something-a, Pokemon-a *starts singing the lion king badly*
I remember getting Meloetta via a mystery gift event available at my local gamestop back in 2013.
Just got it with a quick ball on the first go! 😂 Thanks for the tips as always Austin
Fun fact, after you start spinning you can just hold down the control stick to keep spinning, rather than continuously rotating it :)
I got mine a few hours ago, I just want to know who at Nintendo was like "ahhh yess, how about to get this Pokemon, you must go to this location, then spin for at least 25ish seconds then open your camera, then change your filter to a perticular one as reference to one of our old games, then not tell anyone where or how to do this"
I love that the Driftveil theme is in the background because they knew the fans love it
I was wondering what that student in Blueberry Classroom was saying, I quote “I was traveling among the mellows, when suddenly the wind started blowing. I thought I heard someone singing” I was like, this has to be an event or post game content but because it was a white text box (yellow being usual smt for you) I thought nothing of it
i love that they did such a ridiculous way to unlock her. it feels so "mew under the truck", but also a little cheeky to do such a convoluted thing.
The song Meloetta’s singing is so pretty. Lowkey was hoping that if you send her out using that Go feature she would be singing it still 🥰
This is probably the only legendary/mythical shiny locked mon im excited for. Just for the simple fact its in the game and can be caught is just simply awesome.
Even if you faint her, don’t worry, just be patient and come back later, she will automatically be there. I caught her with a regular poke ball lol it was fun
This is for the algorithmic engagement
I've been bored playing Indigo Disk after playing the main storyline, and your videos have really got me excited again. I caught Meloetta on my second throw! Lol.
I love when it takes the community a while to figure out how to find/evolve a pokemon. Watching Discords pre-SV and people trying to figure out Palafin was a good time lol
for those who dont know once you start spinning you can just hold the joy stick in the direction you are spinning so you dont have to keep rotating the joy stick ❤
I’ve never gotten the opportunity to obtain this Pokémon, but I always thought the cafe in that one game was so cool/mysterious. This is dope, thanks
Wow, when you described the way of finding her, I was like „he‘s GOTTA be kidding?! How can it be THAT special??“ but then I tried it for myself and it worked!!! Thanks a lot, mate!
I can't believe I never thought of Meloetta in such a long time. She was absolutely adorable in the B&W anime in her arc. Probably my favorite B&W Pokemon and overall Mythical now that I think about it.
This method is just sweet, it’s like if you were doing an actual puzzle in real life to summon such a being, it’s adorable😭
I'm so happy that i can finally actually catch a Meloetta. It's one of my favorite Pokemon ever and one of the first Pokemon I ever saw when I was a kid
, back in the B&W anime. thank you for the video
I love that this not a mystery gift, but not an event either
It's astonishing to me that someone found this so early after the release date. I would have never ever guessed to do this.
That's pretty cool. It took me a moment that the new music that plays is actually Meloetta singing. I'm going to go try this asap
This was such a God sent! Thank you for this. I struggled the first time getting this pokemon that i ended up stopping and resetting. Ended up getting the Pokémon on the 2nd attempt.
The nostalgia is very real. I didn't go to encounter her right away.
Sit back, listen to the song, and let the tears start flowing.
Wow … kudos to the trainer who figured that out.
I got mine this morning. Thanks Austin
Thank you so much for the guide! It was tricky finding the spot but I ended up getting mine on the second try, WITH A FRIEND BALL. I threw a bunch of pokeballs before but I still find it amusing. Thank you!
Honestly this guide is such a Pisstake. Followed instructions to the T and still can’t get the exact spot where I see the leaves / music change etc.
There is a cryptic clue to this in one of the classrooms. Some of the kids talk about how there is a windy spot and it would be lots of fun to spin around there.
I keep encountering wild pokemon like so many
Spinning in the cyclone and the sepia filter are clearly references to the Wizard of Oz, since part of Meloetta’s lore is that it lost its Ruby Slippers.
Can I just say, this music is a BIG TUNE. I sat there and listened to it for like 10 mins and once that beat comes in it hits!
One good thing I'll say about the recent games is that some mythicals are able to be obtained in game now via data from previous games and/or being able to encounter them in the wild
