A fun little note for those that don't use Home. Many legendary pokemon have key items associated with them that you can't transfer over via Home despite being able to transfer the pokemon itself. If you get one of these pokemon, then a fourth auction opens up in the Porto Marinada Market. Of the 25 we get access to, Kubfu, Calyrex, and the BW trio unlock this. The auctions for Kubfu will net you the scrolls that determined its style in SwSh, this time becoming key items that act like evolution stones (you can get both scrolls but like in SwSh, you only have the choice of one form). Having Calyrex can get you the Reins of Unity, which can be used to fuse and unfuse it with the Spectrier and Glastrier. I believe it's having Kyurem that will unlock the DNA splicers item. Additionally, for those that maybe didn't move a Palkia or Dialga over from any version of DP or BDSP, or from PLA, then having either of the two of them also unlocks extra auctions, giving you the Adamant Orb (og hold item) and Crystal (PLA item for the origin forme) for Dialga and the Lustrous Orb and Globe for Palkia.
@@BoBz013I had both forms 2 years back because I decided to start a 2nd playthrough just for the other horse and Urshifu (and trading box art legendary) 😅
I play Scarlet and don’t have a false swiper, but a lvl 100 Ting-Lu with Ruination worked pretty well for my solo legendaries. Ruination always brings the opponent down to half its current HP. Ting-Lu’s defense stat is really high, and its typing makes it immune to electric and psychic attacks, which is good considering a lot of them have psychic moves. Its ability Vessel of Ruin is an added bonus against special attacks too.
Just catch the Tera Breloom outside Medali. Spore and False Swipe. Give it a Toxic Orb and change its Ability to Toxic Heal to avoid status/recover HP. Also catch a Gallade for Hypnosis/False Swipe.
I think someone should create a video that has a bunch of union-circle codes available for people to join in to complete this event. For example, entering in the code 1010 into union circle, would allow people who primarily play offline to get a chance to catch all these Pokémon’s. It is a let down that they are all shiny-locked.
I decided to try Ho-Oh first (video would've been nice a little earlier) and I am SO HAPPY that the old Legendary themes are back congrats to the 3 Beasts for geting their HGSS themes for the first time since 2009
@@thelorddragon6902 you could shiny hunt them but they used the GSC version of the theme. HGSS gave unique remixes to each of them and have not returned until now
For anyone else who may need help, I trained up a Smeargle specifically for catching all the legendaries, max hp and attack, rest into speed. I gave it false swipe, spore, swords dance, and trick to put a ring target onto Lunala and Spectrier. I also gave it tera ghost to keep the horses from recoiling themselves with double edge. I'm going to train up a Ceruledge with tera ground to deal with Solgaleo and its recoil- flash fire makes fire moves not work, and tera ground makes electric moves not work. Hope this helps!
If you fly all the way up to the big Cristal in the terrarium you get 50 stellar shards 1 ability patch and 1 golden bottle cap. You need flight to get there.
If it isn't said enough, these video walkthroughs are extremely helpful. Of course, it's easy enough to find all this information elsewhere, but having it condensed in such an easily digestible and and visual manner makes everything so much easier.
I'm assuming (since I didn't check before capturing) but I believe after capturing certain legendaries, the bidding market at Porto Marinada will have associated held and evolution/form items for the new legendaries. For example, the Water and Darkness scrolls for evolving Kubfu, the DNA Splicers for fusing Kyurem, and the fuse items for Necrosma. I also was able to purchase the hold booster for the Lats, and while not related to the new legendaries, I also could get hold items for Palkia and Dialga, along with the item for changing Dialga's form to the origin form from P:LA. I'm guessing I didn't get the Palkia form item since Palkia is Scarlet and I'm on Violet with Dialga. (EDIT: I messed up. I did get both transformation items, and misremembered due to how similar Palkia's transform and hold items are) Also, killing the legendaries isn't an issue as they respawn in about an hour.
@@DanielGarcia-uz5sn Oops, my mistake. They did actually sell the transformation item for Palkia. I mistook it (Lustrous Globe) for the Lustrous Orb. Thanks for the correction.

After seeing my first legendary iv’s being horrible I started resetting to see if I could get better. Of course I looked it up online first but nobody mentioned iv’s were random so I decided to check here with you. You are the only person I’ve found that’s mentioned the iv’s. That’s is why you and serebii are the only two sources of knowledge I recommend to anyone playing Pokémon. Keep up the good work!
Hey! I recommend Flash Fire Ceruledge with Ground Tera for Solgaleo. You resist Wild Charge as a “Ground-type” and Flash Fire ignores Flare Blitz. You won’t have a good sleep move, but you can keep it very safely at 1 HP.
Weather ability and moved do not over ride over world weather any more like it use to in past pokemon games so you can't cancel it out of if a sandstorm start up doing the fight
On the topic of shinies... Remember how a while back you did a video on how to tell the differences of various shinies for colorblind people? It would be super helpful if you could do that for some of the DLC Pokemon. Most of them are extremely hard to tell, and I don't want to waste a bunch of time Let's Go-ing every Tynamo, Elekid, and Pikipek I see.
On another note I really want to share that I really appreciate your videos. They are some of the most thorough and some of the most clearly explained guides out there. I keep coming back to your vids for guides 😊
I’m so gutted with the shiny locks. I caught kyogre, lunala and latias in Pokémon sword before I got interested in shiny hunting and now I can’t get them shiny unless I do BDSP soft resets, except Lunala who I can’t get shiny. Also huge missed opportunity for urshifu and the calyrex horses. I hope they take the shiny locks off soon because although unlikely, it’s definitely in their ability and totally reasonable
I love how they kept the theme songs ❤️ it brings back some memories; it would’ve sucked just having your standard Pokémon scarlet violet wolf encounter music
For those having trouble with Solgaleo's recoil damage and do not want to waste a master ball, use the Reuniclus line of pokemon. Make sure it has the ability Magic guard and move skill swap. Magic guard ability will ignore recoil damage.
I wish rayquaza kyurem and necrozoma weren’t locked to group BBQ’s. I don’t play with anyone and I’m not on any socials, I wouldn’t have cared if they made it 500 BBQ’s a piece for the requirement instead of 1 group quest. Oh well.
For Solgaleo, may I suggest Impish, max defense, Garchomp with False Swipe and Earthquake. It removes Wild Charge from being a threat to its health, reduces the damage Flare Blitz cause to Solgaleo, Earthquake makes a great starting move, and False Swipe to lower it further. You'll need a second pokemon for status, but at that point you've pretty much maxed you odds at catching it.
Friendly tip - You can also use a Pokemon with Recover and Imprison to prevent Lugia/Ho-Oh (or any other Pokémon you might want to catch) from using the move.
I appreciate how much love you have for your content and us. I’m just here to tell you that your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. I paid attention that you displayed all the Legends in order. Your attention to detail is very much appreciated! 🙏🏼
Note about Moltres. The desert is prone to random sandstorms that you can't overwrite with another weather move. So be careful if you are using false swipe or hoping it endures a hit. Obviously save before fighting it. I just ended up using a Master Ball after a few tries where it fainted, because M is for Moltres.
Extremely helpful as usual and easy to understand. Just caught Moltres and Entei moments ago. Got Groudon a few weeks ago. Still have a long way to go. Just catching them all whenever I have time to do so. Thank you for what you do. Keep 'em comin'! 👌🏼💯
It's 8 months later but I just finished the DLC and found this out. I'm just gonna get a copy of Sword and that expansion pass, and get them there. So, so stupid.
Giratina's Griseous Core which changed its form in Legends Arceus is available at the auctions if you have Giratina in your party, I transferred all the Gen 4, Gen 6 & Gen 8 Legendaries over from Home.
Should i bother catching them or no because of the supposed IV issue? Or does it really not matter? I dont play competitive so they would just be in the collection. Maybe some ingame play and raids
Yes, you can do it playing completely offline if you own both games. But you also need 2 switch consoles. It is like trying to get Palafin all by yourself. Things that require union circle also requires two consoles.
Keep in mind: Kubfu has 2 evolutions; you can obtain both from the auction house in Porto Marinada (big building) the first scroll (scroll of darkness) can be used to evolve Kubfu into single strike style Urshifu and the second scroll (scroll of waters) can be used to evolve Kubfu into Rapid strike Urshifu (better option due to Unseen Fist ability allowing the Pokémon to let moves hit through shields like protect or detect) however Single strikes ability aka. Wicked blow allows Urshifu to land critical hits and ignore stat changes.
So even if you have both versions you still locked out of 3 of them and is forced to co-op play again, just like evolving finezin. Great. I hate it thanks GF.
Austin John always coming in clutch with top tier Poké info and promoting ways to take care of your mental wellbeing. Love it ❤️💙 appreciate you and what you do, fella!
aint no way we paid 35 bucks for the dlc and we still cant get these legendaries shiny, there are too many pokemon that are impossible to get shiny atm (also 35 bucks to be able to fly)
For solgaleo you can use Latios with simple beam first After a pokemon with smokescreen and false swipe(greninja) A pokemon with spore and ground tera(brute bonnet). The point is to change its ability lower its accuracy (so flare blitz doesnt hit and ground tera so wild charge is immuned) bring it 1 hp and then put it to sleep(even if its awake it cant hit you ). You can catch it pretty easy and without worrying so much about fainting itself.
@@zwillscoopchannel9689 That’s fine for them, but I can only speak my opinion from my own position. I’ve caught all of these Pokemon 10 times over at this point, doing it again just doesn’t hold my interest.
It's not really big deal of it. So what if they're shiny locked? Keep in mind whether it's regular or shiny, the stats are pretty much the same. It's just for purely cosmetic nothing more
Thanks for the guide, it's useful have a reference to know their movesets. You overlook the use of defensive tera types in this guide when recommending how to catch them tho. 6:50 Use a dark tera type with taunt to stall out its hurricane - also using skill swap after taunt can help speed up the stall as articuno has the Pressure ability. 14:51 .... Or just use a water tera breloom. Or fire. Or rock... 16:43 Ground tera type with flash fire
So they pay wall over half of the legendries behind the crappy nintendo online subscription?? Even the ones you can get solo the game pushes you to go online with the crazy grind. So lazy and greedy, was expecting something similar to the Dynamax Adventures we got in Crown Tundra not a 15-20 hour grind of the same BBQs over and over just to be able to access any of the post game content. Just the biodiversity upgrades and inviting the various trainers is around 25k points.
I honestly wouldn't even bother. You can't shiny hunt them, and their IVs are awful. I'll be honest and say that the way they implemented this was really poorly done.
In case anyone else is curious, you can get all the group quests done by yourself if you have two copies of the game, either version. I had bought the double pack but only bought the DLC for scarlet, and I had my other switch just join my main game on a union circle. Once joined I flew back to BB and did all the group quests, which I was able to do solo. Anytime it asked for group pictures or anything like that it only counted 1/1 maybe because the other profile didn’t have access to the dlc. It took me a few hours to get all of it done by myself, but it worked.
I caught kyogre in a dive ball, and I came up with a strategy which is use encore before it can use aqua ring or you could use taunt either way it will prevent it from using aqua ring
It's worth noting that the Timer Ball gradually reaches that multiplier over those 11 turns, and actually beats the Ultra Ball on turn 5, beats the Dusk Ball on turn 8, and beats the Net and Repeat Balls on turn 10. Edited, as I initially misunderstood and thought you were saying it surpassed the Ultra Ball on turn 11, instead of just turn 11 being the max potential of the Timer Ball.
Please Note: The Co-Op quests do NOT require opposite versions. 4 Violet players can unlock all the Scarlet Exclusives
So you just have to be online to get them all
So it's my understanding that you have to do the Union Circle quests?? Or do you just have to be in a Union Circle to get access?? And if you have to do the Union Quests, then how many do you need to do???

Its ability Vessel of Ruin is an added bonus against special attacks too.
Gallade or sammurott make great false swipers
alternatively just give smeargle ruination false swipe spore
@professoryorick5676 I forgot smeargele was in the game man it would also be good with a set of false swipe/soak/spore/taunt
Just catch the Tera Breloom outside Medali. Spore and False Swipe. Give it a Toxic Orb and change its Ability to Toxic Heal to avoid status/recover HP. Also catch a Gallade for Hypnosis/False Swipe.
@@nedrostram2360 Breloom strat sounds great, but I use technician for the extra damage.
Thank you for all of your hard work. It makes going after all of the legendaries so much easier.
Great guide as always Austin
It’s still really lame that PAID DLC has version exclusive Pokémon
I think someone should create a video that has a bunch of union-circle codes available for people to join in to complete this event. For example, entering in the code 1010 into union circle, would allow people who primarily play offline to get a chance to catch all these Pokémon’s. It is a let down that they are all shiny-locked.
the codes are auto generated sadly
I googled scarlet/violet discord groups and found a few that are super easy to find people to union circle with.
that's not how union circles work.
16:10 For Solgaleo , You can use a Tera Ground Pokemon with Flash Fire ability to wall both of Solgaleo’s recoil moves.
Just be cautious of Solar Beam, but yeah that’s what I did when catching Solgaleo
Solar Beam takes two turns, so you can use Protect to block it.
If he uses solarbeam switch to a sap sipper
I used mew with wild charge, flare blitz, imprison, and false swipe
I decided to try Ho-Oh first (video would've been nice a little earlier) and I am SO HAPPY that the old Legendary themes are back congrats to the 3 Beasts for geting their HGSS themes for the first time since 2009
FWIW ORAS (and maybe USUM?) had this too and you could shiny hunt them.
@@thelorddragon6902 you could shiny hunt them but they used the GSC version of the theme. HGSS gave unique remixes to each of them and have not returned until now
What makes it even better is that these themes can be used when battling online
Which is something they never did in older games
@@xKelaino you've been able to do this since gen 7 (maybe 6 but I didn't play a lot of 6 online)
@@flamingphoenix1425 Ah I didn’t know that then, I thought it wasn’t possible in Gen7
I'm going to try this for the galoping ghost. Thanks!
I did get both transformation items, and misremembered due to how similar Palkia's transform and hold items are)
Also, killing the legendaries isn't an issue as they respawn in about an hour.
Dialga was scarlet. Palkia was violet.
@@DanielGarcia-uz5sn Oops, my mistake. They did actually sell the transformation item for Palkia. I mistook it (Lustrous Globe) for the Lustrous Orb. Thanks for the correction.
@@DanielGarcia-uz5sn You can both in the same game if you do raids via Poke Portal
Just a PSA for everyone: For the sandwich group quest, the ENTIRE group has to take part in the sandwhich, otherwise it won't count, eben if you get 4 stars.
Yup. I did that once.
No that Is not true, we were 4 people but only three of us made the 4 star sandwich and It count for the quest
@@MutenRoshi69 Was it only 3 of you in the group?
I'm talking about cases where only 2 out of 3 take part, or 3 out of 4, with the last member doing something else.
@@azazel166 No we were 4 people in the group, but only 3 of us made the sandwich the other one was making something else and It worked
@@florianVGC I recommend using a different Pokémon to paralyze it turn 1 and then use this strategy. It saved me so much time. Thanks!
I am watching all of these videos even though I don't have s&v but hopefully I can get them at Christmas
I hope you get any copy! It’s really fun and definitely worth it.
One thing to watch out for is moltres, because it's in the desert and isn't resistant to sand, so lowering it's health is very risky
Found that out the hard way.. luckily I saved :)
yea I had to use one of my master balls because the sandstorm kept moltres dying when it was at 1 percent health
Rain dance or Drizzle
@@naughtyNuGetzz23 idk about drizzle, but rain dance doesn't work, I tried it
Weather ability and moved do not over ride over world weather any more like it use to in past pokemon games so you can't cancel it out of if a sandstorm start up doing the fight
Shiny locked and having to be online is lame.
Played subscriptions to play online was the worst thing Nintendo has ever done
On the topic of shinies... Remember how a while back you did a video on how to tell the differences of various shinies for colorblind people? It would be super helpful if you could do that for some of the DLC Pokemon. Most of them are extremely hard to tell, and I don't want to waste a bunch of time Let's Go-ing every Tynamo, Elekid, and Pikipek I see.
On another note I really want to share that I really appreciate your videos. They are some of the most thorough and some of the most clearly explained guides out there. I keep coming back to your vids for guides 😊
For Necrozma, it's far faster to warp to the Groundblight Shrine, as it's almost directly under the cliff where they spawn.
Back in my day we had to play through Crown Tundra at least 4 times!
How did you get them in Pokémon sword
@@snowcena7957crown tundra dlc
@@snowcena7957 you get the other game's exclusive by joining them and saving their path.
You can always start a new profile to shiny hunt them. You'd need NSO on the profile, but probably faster than resetting BDSP.
@@HikuroMishirobut more expensive
I love how they kept the theme songs ❤️ it brings back some memories; it would’ve sucked just having your standard Pokémon scarlet violet wolf encounter music
*wild
For those having trouble with Solgaleo's recoil damage and do not want to waste a master ball, use the Reuniclus line of pokemon. Make sure it has the ability Magic guard and move skill swap. Magic guard ability will ignore recoil damage.
I wish rayquaza kyurem and necrozoma weren’t locked to group BBQ’s. I don’t play with anyone and I’m not on any socials, I wouldn’t have cared if they made it 500 BBQ’s a piece for the requirement instead of 1 group quest. Oh well.
Something that could be useful for Kyogre’s healing move is psychic noise. This will prevent him from healing for a few turns.
For Lunala, use Hisuian Decidueye with Scrappy ability. This way you can use false swipe on ghost types
Thanks for the Betterhelp ad. I’m gonna need it after the shiny locks on all of these.
This comment deserves more likes. its hillarious
@@Uzumaru3 It’s hilarious because it’s true. /j
Thank you so much for being open about MH issues. You’re a great role model.
I personally haven't really been playing the gen 9 games that much but I still like watching your videos because they're just so good 😄
Some would say that’s for the better! Although the game is worth playing just to use Ceruledge, such a cool pokemon!
I'm glad the zapdos picture is centered

@@AustinJohnPlays Hi!! I don't know if you have consider this but maybe a video to help us with no online interaction get some
He brought in Better Help for us shiny hunters who are all depressed that we can't hunt the legendaries😢
Thanks for the baculin/soak tip! Was invaluable
Possible Pokémon: G-Articuno, Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Sableye, the Medicham line, Milotic, Deoxys, Arceus, the Reuniclus line, Alcremie and Rabsca.
I never thought of that good idea
@@Fouetzkysmeargle too, and this also lets you sketch wild charge and flare blitz and use imprison to not let solgaleo use those moves too.
Tip: For Groudon u can use the Heavy Ball, if hes asleep and and 1HP u have a 50% chance of Capturing
I would have done it if I had had enough of those.
Great idea, but its a shame heavy balls are so rare
@@TheSleepyWarlord Yeah. Even with the Item Printer.
I know what Austin meant at Zekrom's bit, but I think Thunder Wave should work on Reshiram
You could have tricked safety googles onto it
Nice tutorials so far!
Austin did you see what happens when you go to the crystal pool after briar gives you the book? You gotta see it its awesome
Thank you for all the work you do, can’t wait to get the legendaries. I love the editing too just to put it out there
Extremely helpful as usual and easy to understand. Just caught Moltres and Entei moments ago. Got Groudon a few weeks ago. Still have a long way to go. Just catching them all whenever I have time to do so. Thank you for what you do. Keep 'em comin'! 👌🏼💯
thank you austin John. Today i completed scarlet, with some help here and there from you!
I actually bought shield to shiny hunt legendaries in raids. I didn’t handle the shiny lock too well
Just hearing that most of these are version exclusives and I can't get them solo makes me not want to get them and just mark this game as completed...
There's the IV issue, and apparently the chance the shiny lock's unintended
There's no real issue with the legendaries not having guaranteed perfect IVs. With Hyper Training, you can easily get the IVs maxed out.
As a sword player. I’m hyped to get lugia kyogre and lunala in my games this gen.
PSA for 3:12 : if you have both copies of the game playing completely offline, there is still no way for you to get Rayquaza, Kyurem, or Necrozma
Yes, you can do it playing completely offline if you own both games. But you also need 2 switch consoles. It is like trying to get Palafin all by yourself. Things that require union circle also requires two consoles.
@@javiersaneiro6412 yes sorry should have specified. Anyone like me that has both games but only one Switch are stuck there is what I meant
02:50 So if you cannot get any other people to do those quests with you, you are not able to get them anymore?
So even if you have both versions you still locked out of 3 of them and is forced to co-op play again, just like evolving finezin. Great. I hate it thanks GF.
Not 3 but 12.
4:10 Me catching all my Legendaries in premium balls. Which I think they have a very low capture rate.

For solgaleo you can use
Latios with simple beam first
After a pokemon with smokescreen and false swipe(greninja)
A pokemon with spore and ground tera(brute bonnet).

It's just for purely cosmetic nothing more
@dalaxdercrisper957 People want the shiny. It's not hard to understand.
The music you put behind the BetterHelp ad is some of my favorite. A lot of time spent with it in gen 7 lol

I wish they could be shiny hunted, but of course, just more disappointment. They really hate their players having fun.
Thanks for the guide, it's useful have a reference to know their movesets. You overlook the use of defensive tera types in this guide when recommending how to catch them tho.
6:50
Use a dark tera type with taunt to stall out its hurricane - also using skill swap after taunt can help speed up the stall as articuno has the Pressure ability.
14:51
.... Or just use a water tera breloom. Or fire. Or rock...
16:43
Ground tera type with flash fire
Careful though, the move sets can actually be different. The Articuno I fought had sheer cold, blizzard, haze, and one other move I can't remember
I'm here for the snap transition at the beginning. Classic 😂
Thanks!
I like how he mentions solgaleo, lunala, and necrozma and the necrozma final boss theme plays
The second sponsor you’ve ever had, behind water! I might have to check them out
In case anyone else is curious, you can get all the group quests done by yourself if you have two copies of the game, either version.
Thanks much! My friend has the game, but not the DLC. I'll be trying this.
I don't know if he's answered this yet but why is Yveltal, Xerneas, and Zygarde completely missing? Like all of gen 6 legendaries are just forgotten?
Thank you so much! Not only was I able to catch some legendaries, but I also found a shiny Salandit when I looked for Kyurem ^^
For Solgaleo, get a Pokémon with Flash Fire and give it ground-tera
I appreciate the genaration appropriate background music for each legendary! Great detail!
