@@sylmaerie It should work with the present or any other anchor item for the vertical floating trick. Rather than moving Item A (the anchor) across the ground to get horizontal distance, you 'set' (don't actually place it, as stated in the video) it up on a stack of chests or other similar items, and when you swap and place Item B (desired item) as shown, Item B will float vertically in the air instead! I've done this with table lamps to get them to become ceiling lamps and want to try it with the Floating Candles from the Fall Store to see if I can add some variation to their heights. The height of the stacked items will be how high Item B floats in the air (technically it's the stack plus however high Item A raises it, but if you use a short anchor like the butcher's block or a plate it will hardly be a noticeable difference), and how close you initially place Item A to your stack before the move to 'set' it will determine the horizontal distance between A and B (just like the tutorial showed). For example, if you want Item B to float directly above Item A, have the anchor placed right next to your stack before the move up to 'set' it and swap, as it minimizes the horizontal distance between the two items. For fine-tuning, I suggest turning off the grid-snap placement feature as well as pushing the items to the edge of the stack - towards Item A's initial placement - if you're trying to center B over A. Feel free to mix and match both height and horizonal distances to find what you like! Hope this helps, and happy building!

I saw this video a few days ago but I just had time to try it today. I don't have the alternative placement key listed and V is not working so I thought it wasn't going to work but it does work wonderfully!! I always saw people do the red gift thing but never done with the butcher blocks

The only reason they would ever patch this out, would be if it leads to some sort of exploit (like moving your storage chests out of bounds, and winding up with some infinite item glitch or something...or losing the chest inventory entirely), or the weird object placement starts seriously messing with the game's performance either on player systems, or on their servers. Otherwise, I can't really imagine they'd put the time and money into getting rid of this effect. If it ain't actually broke, don't fix it. But if it does somehow actually break something...yeah, they'll eventually get rid of it...because they'd have to. Time will tell.
@@Fyla66 depends on the fountain, many are ground locked meaning they cannot be put out of bounds on their own without either a builders floor base OR the red winter lights present as the base

Sadly no, however you can use the new building blocks to make a wooden or stone path outside the bounds and you might be able to do it that way? I'm unsure if you can place the swing on them however.

you would need the red winterlights present because the swing is locked to the ground. you could also place it on a builders floor way out there potentially but i havent done that myself. you might also be able to combine different hacks to do it but that's beyond my personal ability. I use the winterlights present as it's base and hide it in my trees.

any item that doesn't have a top on which you can place another item, must use the red present. however i hear there are other ways, if you are on PC and am looking into them. if i find other ways i will include them in next thursdays video.

@@mamzelle5202 if you sink the object too low into the ground, it will snap back to the entrance. it just means you need to sink it not as low as you have been.

Idk if something has changed with the newest patch, but I can't seem to pick up item A when I do this. When I try to remove the item I used to place the second item out of bounds, I get a "must remove interior decor first" message, so I'm stuck with the first item sitting on my plot.
The anchor item needs to remain always. The only time you can remove an item is if it was used to create a sinking effect (00:04:47) like the chair, but the butchers block/anchor must always remain.
just depends, i covered mine with flowers or use a table that goes in a spot i want it so you dont even realize its n anchor. gotta use your imagination.

So I've tried this, it doesn't work anymore? what I have figured out is if you use wood floor you can place whatever you want to go out of bounds, for example I have a huge frog plush on the water.
It does still work, however a lot of people seem to be having issues with it. If the part that isn't working is place the second item on the first you need to rebind your keys (info in decription)
if that's possible it is not something i have included or know how to do. i just hide the item or use things like tables that i want to include in my build, than possition the out of bound items in relation to it.

I do, but items that are 'ground locked' won't work for them. You can also use Pavers now for lots of items but those weren't out when this video was made!
I’ve seen framed maps in many player’s homes. I’m almost completely done w/the game and have never come across a quest or reward w/it. A few if my quest are bugged, so maybe that’s it. Do you know how to get it? Thanks!
you should still have the alternative placement, you just might need to reset it in your keybind settings. I tested this just recently and it still does work as before.

I can try, but I havent' set any settings to do this as far as I know. Unless it's considered embedding? I don't allow other sites to embed my videos so that might be stopping it from working and I don't feel comfortable changing that.

do you know if they fixed this with the hotfix a couple days ago? i got the item to move around properly but it won't let me place out of bounds. am i just doing it wrong even though "item b" will move with the butchers block?
I've heard a couple people have issues with it now, but mine and most others seem fine. So I'm not sure what's causing the issue for specific individuals. I did just test it, and it still works fine for me. The only difference is the items now have collision so you cant place it inside another item, and half way through a wall kinda situation. but out of bounds works perfectly for myself, im not sure whats happening. as long as the main item is within bounds, should work :/

can someone please help? this used to work for me but it doesn’t now on 2 accounts & i know i’m doing it correctly. when i move the item & press the number for what i want to appear, it doesn’t let me place it on the butcher block
sometimes this happens to me, and it's usually because you have an item highlighted in your inventory (like food you just ate). Try scrollingto another row in your "pocket"/inventory then back to the row with your items in it
@@WitchyTQ it’s the last step, when I go to move the butcher block under it moves the whole item and doesn’t act as kinda a remote like it did in your video
This is so confusing when you keep referring to them as Item A, Item B, Item C, and they're not in order on your bar. Just use "chair", "lamp", and whatever that other Item name is
sorry you feel this way, I make the videos mostly with what's easiest for me so maybe my videos aren't for you 🖤 I also find when I did use the item name, people got very confused on what they could use or not, so I went a different direction here. I'll consider making both in the future for those like you that find the alternative easier to follow. Just for y'all
No, it was tested and confirmed to still work as of today; however you need to unlock all your plot sections with Writs from town hall before it will work and this was a new discovery just two days ago I hadn't had a change to update with yet.
@@vanessabarneskitten2141 the anchor item (butchers block) must always remain. the new paths (stone circles and stuff) may work as well and fit better as a permanent item. i use tables, chairs, all sorts of things. butchers blocks are just easy to hide.

You have to set one manually, it'll work but it won't appear in the bar so you have to memorize which key you bind

Using the Red Present from Winterlights, it's a ground locked item explained about half way through the video.
Can you give instructions how to put a house outside of the housing plot? I have seen some when touring houses.

It seems to only partially work now. You can no longer use this method to clip the floating item into other objects.

you should still have the alternative placement, you just might need to reset it in your keybind settings. I tested this just recently and it still does work as before.

I can try, but I havent' set any settings to do this as far as I know. Unless it's considered embedding? I don't allow other sites to embed my videos so that might be stopping it from working and I don't feel comfortable changing that.

the update caused the keybinds to reset! go into your settings, and add in any key you like as the second option under keybind settings - placement manipulation - confirm move. Add V as your Key 2 option!

do you know if they fixed this with the hotfix a couple days ago? i got the item to move around properly but it won't let me place out of bounds. am i just doing it wrong even though "item b" will move with the butchers block?
I've heard a couple people have issues with it now, but mine and most others seem fine. So I'm not sure what's causing the issue for specific individuals. I did just test it, and it still works fine for me. The only difference is the items now have collision so you cant place it inside another item, and half way through a wall kinda situation.
but out of bounds works perfectly for myself, im not sure whats happening. as long as the main item is within bounds, should work :/
@@WitchyTQ same problem, only work if I place the "support" item on an existing one, way more complicated, but still very nice when you can hide them under flower or things, thanks for the video !

can someone please help? this used to work for me but it doesn’t now on 2 accounts & i know i’m doing it correctly. when i move the item & press the number for what i want to appear, it doesn’t let me place it on the butcher block
sometimes this happens to me, and it's usually because you have an item highlighted in your inventory (like food you just ate). Try scrollingto another row in your "pocket"/inventory then back to the row with your items in it

This is so confusing when you keep referring to them as Item A, Item B, Item C, and they're not in order on your bar. Just use "chair", "lamp", and whatever that other Item name is
sorry you feel this way, I make the videos mostly with what's easiest for me so maybe my videos aren't for you 🖤 I also find when I did use the item name, people got very confused on what they could use or not, so I went a different direction here. I'll consider making both in the future for those like you that find the alternative easier to follow. Just for y'all

No, it was tested and confirmed to still work as of today; however you need to unlock all your plot sections with Writs from town hall before it will work and this was a new discovery just two days ago I hadn't had a change to update with yet.
@WitchyTQ I can't get it to work I'm on pc ... (edit) got it to work but how to pick up the butchers block after or is just there now?
@@vanessabarneskitten2141 the anchor item (butchers block) must always remain. the new paths (stone circles and stuff) may work as well and fit better as a permanent item. i use tables, chairs, all sorts of things. butchers blocks are just easy to hide.
