    FOR NOW HAHAHA
It's a month after Yunchan Lim's victory at the Van Cliburn competition and after reading the comment section of his performances, I figured that I put something to the test. Have you ever noticed Yunchan miss a note, play a wrong chord, or get a rhythm wrong? It's hard to think about that when he's producing such unworldly music. In this video, I listen to Yunchan play his pieces performed at the Cliburn for a minute each to see if he makes ONE mistake. If he makes a mistake? THE VIDEO ENDS. Play along and see if you can hear a mistake I possibly didn't catch! Oh, and turn on your CC to read my thoughts during each of his pieces!
    Thanks for watching!

Thank you everyone for watching! I want to make it very clear that this video is really supposed to represent how amazing Yunchan's playing is. While of course the mission is to find a "mistake" in his playing for this video, you get to listen to how well he can open every one of his pieces in each round. As I watched my recorded footage back, I found it extremely difficult to focus on anything else but his remarkable ability to serve the music of each piece. Mistakes do not define a performance (most of the time haha). Masterful pianists make mistakes. Just wanted to make listening to his playing added with a little twist :)

You've shown Yunchan is a human (thank god!) and only a real human can play music so beautifully with such story telling and emotions. Imagine comparing Yunchan's playing and a robot/computer playing a piece perfectly. I bet Yunchan's will be sublime. (I have a hard time describing Yunchan's ability...) Maybe, it's Yunchan's ability to connect with the audience as well, because he tells the story so beautifully.

One off note, and his timing is so god damn tight it didn’t even jar. He said there's a lava-like singing inside him but to perfectly express that music he needs to struggle for a long time, study and think a lot, and practice overnight, to go beyond the skills to the realm of pure art..
I read somewhere that he lose track of time while practicing for he is so into making the ideal music in his heart into reality. (He actually practiced till 4am during this competition according to his host family)
A reporter asked him a question like "how many hours do you practice?" And he actually answered like "Till I collapse."

Mostly he isn't satisfied with his playing, but very often he meets the moment where he's perfectly satisfied, kind of 'ideal' sound in his mind, and he feels great joy. He said this is why he couldn't give up piano even though he feels like doing it sometimes. I'm not sure if every musician does that. But I guess this is one of his secrets.
And one more. He said he memorizes the score until he could write it himself. I'm not sure how much effort this needs and if it's normal in other pianists.

He noted the mistakes and resolved it quickly! Apart from this, his performance was nearly perfect! In my opinion, his performance of the complete 12 transcendantal etudes is the best live audio/video recorded performance! His Mazeppa, Feux Follets, Eroica, Wild Jagd are stunning!!

And exactly what does your statement prove?
Other than your own immaturity in expressing such a ridiculous statement.
Who bloody cares about two wrong notes?
Where did you hear them...back up the claim.
Then get yourself to the next Van Cliburn competition and show the judges, audience and world your ability to perform the work flawlessly.
      In the meantime...GROW UP!
Such a narcissistic statement you have made.
      Pathetic.

His teacher Sohn later clarified that it is very likely to mean Yunchan is not overall satisfied with his performances. Sohn said Yunchan actually told him he can't remember how good or bad his performance was during the competiton
