  • This is what the trail looked like in Late November 2021.

    Also includes a look at Lincoln Marsh Natural Area.

    When I research new bike trails to ride I use the AllTrails app (love it!) for discovery and RUclips to see what the trail looks like. Many times, any questions I may have (What does the trail look like? How well taken care of is the trail? How wide is the trail? Does it look like a trail we can pull a kids trailer on? How does the new detour go? Are there many places to stop? Where does it tend to flood? How does this trail connect to that trail?) can be answered by a simple video like this. Unfortunately there are a lot of trails that I can’t find videos on or they are way out of date. Hopefully this video will help others who may want to quickly see a trail to decide if it’s a good fit for their ride style.

    The bridge in Wheaton is called the Volunteer Bridge for obvious reasons. Going further into Elgin is Gail Borden Library, Hemmens Auditorium, Spring Street (brick pavers), and a rook.

    I just got into biking the Illinois Prairie path last year. Thank you for the video. I love the Elgin branch especially

      Nice! Be sure to check out the other branches & spurs as well! It's a really nice trail that covers a pretty large area! 4 of the 5 sections also run into the Fox River Trail, (which is my favorite local trail). I'm hoping we get some good weather finally, I'm in need of a good ride!

    Rode that many many times never made a video -.... BRAVO For your effort.. BTW riding bikes is not permitted on most of the paths in Wheaton Marsh. (I know... my home abuts it).

      other side of the school by Wheaton Marsh that you mentioned is both the county fair grounds and the DuPage County Gov Complex - Jails and everything.

      Thanks for the kind words! When riding I look for “No Bikes” signs and try to adhere to them but sometimes it’s no marked very well.

      Ahh ok, thanks! I’m not super familiar with that area so this helps. As I look outside my window with all the snow, I can only wish for an early Spring!

    Just watched while I was riding my stationary bike inside the basement. 15 degrees outside, riding shirtless inside. Great video. I like your music and I was curious about your bike, do you like it? Looks pretty cool and really comfortable.

      Thanks for the kind words! I use Epidemic Sound for my music. I usually pick a different genre for each video. I love my RadRover 5! It has opened my world to an entire system of bike trails that I didn't know existed. The bike is more comfortable now that I've added a larger seat and a suspension seat post.

    I’m curious. These trails are very large and your bike seems to take them like a champ. What kind of bike do you have? What’s the max range? Is there a specific way you pedal? I usually pedal in gear 5 with PAS 3 which is about 13-15mph

    • @Cynical_Zombie
      @Cynical_Zombie  6 месяцев назад +1

      My CynicalZombie bike is a modified/upgraded RadRover 5 from Rad Power Bikes. If I want max range I can bring 2 batteries and go maybe 75 miles but I never ride that far. When making videos I’m usually riding 12-15 mph. On my bike that’s usually PAS 2 in 4th gear. Ride safe! 😎🤘🏼

      @@Cynical_Zombie That’s smart. I typically go longer distances so bringing 2 batteries might be good. Thanks!

      On a longer ride I tend to park somewhere near the middle of the trail so we can ride to the top of the trail, go back to the car to swap batteries then do the bottom of the trail. That’s how we handled the 56 mile round trip on the Fox River State Trail in Wisconsin.

      I use a GoPro Hero 8 for the TimeWarps and a Hero 10 for pics and narration. I also occasionally use my iPhone for some pics and video.
