I learned more in the span of 3 minutes and sixteen seconds than I have learned in the span of months of watching videos "Rap has been around for you, and there's not a lot you can say that hasn't been already. So you need to say it in a new, doper, and fresher way" And "Make an image, paint an image" Which in my head turned into "Paint a Picture differently" I like to draw as well, so this definitely simplified it for me considering my knowledge on Physical Art. I came out of this learning more than I ever have before
for those who aspire to be an artist, Im wishing you luck every step of the way. keep grinding and eventually you'll be so good nobody can ignore you any longer. I'll see ya'll at the top💜
damn man.. thats exactly what i think as far as lyricism.. too many people claim they lyrical but they just saying big words and not much with it.. too abstract... no concrete
@@noir269 yeah i like lyricism to an extent, but i like storytelling rappers which is different than lyrical rappers, most lyrical rappers saying a bunch of nothing, tupac was a storyteller, nas was a lyrical rapper, both goats, but one is a better poet and screenwriter and visualizer
@@noir269 yeah there isnt no right or wrong way, its up to the 'poet' how they SAY it, so thats why 'mumble' rap is big right now cause they are saying the same thing but more catchy and using the right words that please the ear, they focus on melodic, what im saying is that all lyrical rap is not good, but storytelling is better than just simply just being lyrical, the soul expression has to be heard, thats why i prefer pac over nas, cause nas had a more boring tone, and yeah very lyrical but with pac he used the right words lyrically and put his soul to give it a stronger meaning, music is about the feel, anybody can be lyrical, lol my bad for the long paragraph homie
Whats crazy is i can freestyle rap better than my written somehow I come up with doper lines off the top rather than writing because I think too hard about it I need advice on how to beat the writers block and really write lyrics to my full potential all I listen to is conscience rap and I have dope lyrics its just sometimes its hard to put it to paper. I've been making an album it just seems like I keep getting to a halting point with my lyrics after the first verse. I got the flow and I got the message I just need to find a better way to put my message on the paper to let the audience see the picture im painting. This video helped inspire me to finish a few of my songs today good shit bro! I appreciate it i still need to push past this block that I hit every once in awhile.
If your like freestyling do it. Record it. Write your song. Refer to the freestyle and pick out a line. That'll spark a whole new strain of creativity. Rinse and repeat as needed
We’ve gotten to a point in hip hop that there have been so many metaphors and imagery in rap that it’s possible too have a full song out of lines that are clever but have already been said. Make sure to speak what feels right to YOU and not try to come up with metaphors that just sound cool. It hits harder when it comes from home.
Fr but I always be feeling like I gotta rap with the OGs like Pac Cool J Nas Big Mf Doom Jadakiss etc. Because all the old heads complain about rappers not using wordplay or allat
you are a mad genius, you are the first i've seen who painted a picture about painting a picture, my mind is completely blown, you have my sub, like and a new student, thanks man 👍
Greatest coach ever 🤘 for real just what I needed and some Inspiration too write lyrics again, I've been kinda stuck but now I feel like I'm gonna be writing alot of verses 🤴🙏
This video is so fucking helpful. You got any tips on flow techniques? Its like all starting rappers including me sound boring and the same when it comes to flow also
THIS IS AMAZING! Such great explanations and examples - make some videos without cussing and I would love to use your videos as classroom examples of thorough explanations and thinking!
@@THERAPCOACH You are right! I was thinking of what's allowed in a school setting. Real talk is better, but educators always have fine lines to walk --- parents, principals, etc. I wasn't commenting on how you talk but instead was commenting on the restrictions educators face in trying to give students authentic lessons such as the one you provided in this video. It's all love man!

Exactly
Lyricism is supposed to be somewhat abstract. You're literally painting an image in your head that's meant to be a metaphor.
@@drillgirl718 Storytelling is lyricism tho. There's no right or wrong way of being a lyricist

The tips you said was good like me spitting a verse "My hood take beef out the Ravioli ..........serving gravy with dough and no biscuits. "

omg I'm going through literally the same thing
I’m the opposite. I can’t freestyle but when I write I feel I make good tracks
That’s crazy yo because I’m the opposite I feel I can write better than I can freestyle
