Birds are able to recognise the shape/silhouette of other birds and they react on it. They don't wanna fly where other birds fly to avoid crashing. That way they are tricked to not hit the glass.
This video was part 2 of our German thanksgiving. The first one was at an American military base and this is with our German friends in Stuttgart!

Did y'all know, that we Germans HAVE to stop for the 'Zebrastreifen'? Because when the police woulsd catch us driving although somebody wanted to cross, we have to pay (do you say fine?) a fine of 80 euros. But not only that but we also get a point in Flensburg which means that we failed in our fitness to drive. Do you reach 3 points then they take your driver's license.
So it's not just kindness to let people cross the street at the 'Zebrastreifen'. But law! 😉

If you like mountains you should visit the bavarian alps. They are so beautiful, like the Rocky Mountains, just a little bit smaller. But they have it's own kind, like the highest mountain of Germany "Zugspitze".
The bird on the window is for other birds. When they see the big bird they don't fly again the glas.

Those birds an bus stations or other windows are indeed to protect birds for flying into them and die. They see it and know there is something, if they were not there, they can't see the window and fly into it.

It is called „Erntedankfest" not „Ertedankfest" (Thumbnail) 😉
Yep the bird stickers are used against birdstrike. They function due to reflection of UV light, which birds are able to see. Its the same way with spider webs, they are also reflecting UV light, so birds do not destroy them.

Yeah at 5:00 it's so that the birds don't fly against it. If it's only glas it's completly transparent and birds don't see it. If they see the bird sticker they see there is something.

I haven't found any smoked or cured ham in Germany (schinken is ham in German but in US is called prosciutto). If you want ham, it is schweinbrat and it has to be baked (brat) since it is raw. I also noticed a ring on your left hand(?). In Germany, the wedding ring is worn on either the right or left hand.

Yes, it prevents birds from just flying into window panes. This is an actual problem and I don't know why you know nothing about it. Especially big glass windows tend to have something like that. I've experienced it myself a couple of times (in my old home and in school one or the other time, I think) that a bird flew into a window. (Under broad windows of medium-sized buildings I think one intuitively knows one might find dead birds.) These stickers show them not that there is a "glass" but that there's already space taken and so they maybe pay more attention.
Windows may be visible enough most of the time, but at certain times or certain windows are less so.
