I have my second frozen shoulder, now on the not-dominant side (start Fall 2023). So far, a few instances of pain, always triggered by bad movement, no permanent pain at night (except for light pain during two nights). I am the exception to the rule: no pain for at least one month as you stated. Otherwise I agree to all you said in this short segment. My first frozen shoulder (start August 2021) was very different and fit your symptom description 100%. This condition is life changing and so unknown, until one gets it. My friend and I (quite in synch both right side then left side) have become experts in the field. :)
I really appreciate hearing that muscle guarding has a significant role to play. If interested I would recommend researching the clinician James Waslaski. He has a very effective frozen shoulder protocol that works to reduce the muscle guarding which dramatically improves rom and pain levels.
