ABOUT THE VIDEO:
I am in the process of making my first ever comic book collection consisting of different short stories and quotes that resonated with me. The series focuses on my process and progress through the making of the comic book. Hopefully this will urge you and everyone from around the world (whether it be the United States or from the Jungles of Africa) to make, create and share your own stories with the world through drawing.
I'm starting a book and comic business and at first, I was only going to do books but with all the help I'm getting for this channel I'm going to start comics as well! Thank you Kesh ❤

Im back to say I am so excited for this workshop. I set a goal to finish my graphic novel in 365 days, (by my 40th birthday) and I just turned 39 yesterday (Oct 12!) It felt like divine freakin intervention that this workshop dropped at the time that it did. I finished my thumbnailed rough draft in 4 weeks (approx 200 pages!) and was daunted/overwhelmed to start the drawing process for real and then voila. Your workshop dropped! So I just wanted to say thank you. Your videos and now this workshop have really kept me going the past month.
Yay! 200 pages of rough draft is great progress!! Keep the momentum up. Let's finish that comic and ship it💪💪💪
@@KeshArt Thanks so much for the encouragement Kesh!!! My ultimate goal is to just FINISH it, because Im sorta doing the process as therapy. But ultimately I'd also like to pitch the project. One of my fave publishers (Drawn and Quarterly) accepts pitches once you've got 20 pages complete. I am wondering if I should just try to spend the year drawing the entire thing then pitch, or if I should put myself out there and send pages out once Ive completed a chunk! Would love a whole video on pitching if you ever wanted to explore that kinda content. Thanks again for all you do.

The story about donkey reminds me almost identical one written by a Polish writer Aleksander Fredro in 19th century. In that one the donkey was given both oats and hay and couldn't decide which one to eat so in the end the poor animal died of hunger.

Your pose workshop helped me alot and this one impressed me too your a lifechanger man i just cant believe like cuz i get different shocks which i wanna do be getting inspired by other people but most of the times i didnt complete those tasks bit with your support as a beginner im going hreat!

I made a few comics as a kid.
my first ever comic was called “Hornet man” , inspired from a few superheroes like ant-man. the story was about a guy with a wife and 2 kids who had to fight a guy called victor with a massive titan who wanted to destroy an entire city.
and i had also made a sequel to the hornet man comic : “hornet man 2 : The wish stone” (im not sure if the title is correct)
And this time , hornet man meets his sidekick , the green hornet.
One day two proffesional twin robbers (wiper and viper) steal the wishing stone from a highly guarded facility , and thus , hornet man and green hornet have to fight the twin robbers in order to retrive the wishing stone. in the end , hornet man almost gets killed but gets saved by a new character called “hornet girl” , and after that , i didnt make any more comics for hornet man. back then , i planned of giving hornet man a few more sequels , “hornet man 3 : robot apocalypse” , “hornet man 4 : victor strikes back” , and also “hornet man 5 : the patagonia man” (🗿 wut?)
and i also made a few other comics
one was called “super spy” which was about an average guy who became a spy and has to fight a cat girl (whom is trying to hunt him down)
and thats it. i didnt make more comics for years now. cuz of school and all. 🗿👍
I remember when I was around 8 years old I made a comic and it wasn't looking that good but at that time I didn't feel that it's bad and I was just keep making pages for it but now I have lost it 😞
Btw it was little bit inspired by Avengers hmmm I think not little bit

Kesh! I have been making more progress on my graphic novel and finally got to the art stage and thought of another question I'd like your unique perspective on. LETTERING!!! I keep seeing posts and blogs about how important lettering is and how many graphic novelists actually use a separate artist for this. Um... is it completely TABOO to just use the Text feature in pro-create and create my text and word bubbles using their fonts? Is there a reason that is like amateur big huge mistake number one? Cause that was my plan. Much thanks in advance if you answer, or direct me towards a video where you already covered this. Thanks so much Kesh!

I have never made a comic... aside from like a few frames doodling in class. ... And I have decided to write a graphic novel that spans 20 years about all the men I have ever "loved". (euphemism Lol) It is going to be over 200 pages and I am HELLA DAUNTED!!!!!! But, I did write the actual entire comic in 4 weeks. Like it's entirely thumbnailed with all the dialogue. That's half the battle right??? (I'm trying to convince myself of this)
That's neat! Getting the writing done is one of biggest tasks.
Now it all comes down to getting it done :)
I turn 39 on Oct 12, and my goal is to fully complete it by my 40th birthday. I think 365 days is enough to complete an ENTIRE GRAPHIC NOVEL!??! Here's hoping!!! I discovered your channel a month ago when I started and it really helped me get going!!!

I just casually draw comics, I have a comic series about a guy with a mullet and a red nose (don't ask) called jimmy. They are very short and they're quite dumb and silly. But idc, I just like drawing, and even though I'm not good at it, I don't really care.

Why do every comic artist always do comics for kids? Like kid´s style comics.. Why not for adults? And then I don´t mean like Batman, Hulk, Spider man, etc. I mean comics that includes sex, alcohol, more adult humour, aimed at adults..
I'm sure as heck not doing a Comic for kids. I'm just doing what works for my sensibilities. And I've seen plenty of manga/comics aimed at adults. You can check them out on Amazon:)

Belching up a comic book in record time RUINS the artistic vision. Art takes time...if you rush it don't expect it to be a best seller
I disagree. Here's why
- here's a sure fire way to ruin "artistic vision" - NOT FINISHING the project. The strategy I share are ways to get the first draft done. This comes from the principle of "art can always be made better". But to make better, you have to have something.
- The moment you aim to make a "best seller" is when you stop making "art". At that point you as the creator don't ask what you would like to make, but rather what other people would like and buy. Thus truly burying your "artistic vision".
I sorta agree that you don't need to rush things. BUT that's only for those who has the "first draft" complete.
If you don't? Then you rush like your behind is on fire because all the "thinking and research" one does in this phase is just (for a lack of better words) mental matsurbation.
