I've been working on a graphic novel anthology for 5 years off and on. I'm finally zeroing in on an ending! I'll try shorter projects in the future, after this video!
This was so awesome! Thank you for sharing this. I'm a screenwriter who I looking to write comics as well. I became subscriber before the video was over.
Yay!> Thank you so much for your tips and tricks about comics…^___^ I’m already working on a small mini autobio comics about my ups and downs in my life…^_____^
Questions: Did you use inks for the “Germinator” comic? And if so, how did you use them on that paper without bleeding through? I’m starting to make a comic and want to use normal long bond paper with inks but don’t know how.😅 Love the advice btw
I did not! So Germinator was all 2B pencils (except the logo which was Sharpie marker), and all-in-all it was fine on copy paper. But yeah you need thicker paper when you start inking! 😅
Hi andrew i hope you're doing great i have two questions and i was wondering if you could help me 1.- any advice on the comic layout? I saw a procreate layout but is too heavy for my ipad, i was wondering if you had any advice on making it seem more dynamic or if was just practicing and experience 2.- is it bad if i try to draw on top pictures or photos to practice anatomy or the way stuff is made, im NOT seling them or anything just for practice (some people call it stealing but im not even a begginer and i would love to start drawing and i can afford classes right no) GREAT video as always! and i would love to read your answer/advice
Hi shippo633! For your first question - aside from practice, I would look at dynamic layouts by artists you love for ideas (JH Williams III or manhwa or action manga)-you’ll want to see how you can incorporate diagonals or other shapes to increase the movement on your page. For your second question-i don’t recommend tracing-I would say draw on a separate sheet with the reference next to you, so that you can imbibe the shape language and get it into your muscle memory. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! 😁
I think 5 pages are a sweet spot! If you do 2 of them, you'll get 10, 4 and you'll have 20, etcetera. But finish the 5 first and see how comfortable you are in your comics powers before lengthening.
Me and my friend created a universe let me read the story to you strongman says I'm strong man the next page is attacking the city strongman says ha aqortar he punched aqortar. The next page is oh no strongman say no aqortar say ah! Aqortar got back in the water aqortar said ha strongman says no!... Strongman sore smash smash says ha strongman go to bed the next day strongman goes to the news done a bank robbery started😮! Smash steel the money strong man gets the money strongman punches smash strongman gets a new hand punch suit smash gets arrested
I thinking a comic book storie with a mixing between superhero and bible, called Pencil Man (world's most bible superhero that learn the line of one of his grandpas that dies "read always the bible, to have trust on true destiny of our god, also this will make be a good man or a hero in your future.")
I am almost finished with my mini comic. I folded several pieces of paper in half, and illustrated and wrote it. This video was very helpful.
