The cruise control upgrade is pretty easy to do on this version. On our 2017 mk8 we just needed to replace the left hand steering wheel switch cluster and change the config with Forescan.
@@FluxLabsProjects Just for info the part number we used was H1BT9E740-AB. You probably have the -BB version that doesn't have the cruise control on/off button. On some cars you also have to replace another part between the steering wheel and car but we didn't on ours.
@@knobstop25 Yes. Ours came with speed limiting only and we added cruise control so it has both. The only hardware we had to change was the left hand switch assembly on the steering wheel to one with a cruise control button. We then used the free version of Forescan to change the configuration settings. I can't remember exactly which configuration settings but it wasn't too hard to work out. I think one of them required us to enter the part number of the switch, or at least a number on the switch so you need to write it down or take a photo before fitting it. We have done it on a 2017 and a 2018 Fiesta. Edit: You have to tell your insurance company but ours considered it a software only change and didn't charge anything. Others might charge a small fee to amend their records.
@@ColinWatters Hello and thanks for the good info. I am a newbie here trying to figure my upcoming ford fiesta mk8 that does not have camera/parking sensors , are these "easily" upgradable and what other things can you do using forscan. nice video, but forgive me if i don't understand yet, i have a fiesta 2019 without camera, obviously no video. If I want to install the rear view camera, just add the cable or do I also have to program via PC?
looks like a lot of work, I've just bought 2019 Fiesta St-Line and thankfully it came with one already installed 🙂, slight difference (and I think mine is factory fit) is that when reversing it shows colour-coded moving guidelines when reversing .. does your kit?
@@passworsstrength I don't know for sure. I would set about finding out if the directonal lines are added by the camera or the Infotainment. If it's the camera, then i'd buy it and a harness and fit it. If it's added in the infotainment, then you'll probably need to find someone with experience with Sync (not me sadly).
Hi there, great video! The cable with the yellow end that's seen in the middle @ 11:02 (I'm guessing it's an antenna connector), can you just pull it off the display or is there a tab or something? I was trying to remove the display on my Fiesta and it didn't really want to come off and I didn't want to do something wrong.
It's the video data cable for the display. it's tricky to get off, you need to press the lever in on the connector, then the connector will come out from the screen. It's tricky but once you know the technique it becomes quite easy.
Fantastic explanation of how to fit the camera unit thank you. Just completed an installation myself. Only comment is that it’s not necessary to separate the trim around the dials. If you have a torx driver that can get to the 2 torx head screws below the dials then once they are removed the whole dash panel just pulls off by hand. Easy!
Can you please confirm which pin numbers in the apim harness have the camera input wired? In the orignal harness those pin slots must be empty and in the aftermarket harness there must be Camera input going to those empty slots.
You''re welcome. I have not, i don't have access to forscan, i just used the dongle that came with the kit. I have a feeling the guidlines are generated by the camera itself, but i don't know this for sure .
You would think since he opened the box he would have looked at the instructions, before filming, so he knows what bit of the loom goes to where. Other than that very informative and well done.
Thanks for the video as thinking of doing this with my Focus. Did your car have reverse parking sensors ? I thought I heard the bleeping and wasn't sure if you'd lose them.
Hi, thanks for the comment. My car had no reverse sensors. I don't know what would happen to your reverse sensors if you used this kit, i'd suggest contacting the manufacturer of the kit.
@@FluxLabsProjects ibforgotvto ask last time, I'm still thinkng about fitting a camera. Does the boot lock still work with the central locking with the camera handle and how much warranty do you get mate.

The carbon fibre effect trim was relatively simple, but the black shroud around the dashboard was trickiest. You need to remove the screen so you can fully remove the carbon fibre effect piece. I would say it is impossible to do this task without removing it. Hope that helps.
@@FluxLabsProjects can you describe how the black shroud around the dashboard (speedo plastic trim surround) came out? im having a nightmare removing it
This is a good point. I imagine if you take it back because, say, the screen failed then they will say it's your problem but i've had the car back twice (under warranty) to look at mechanical things and no one noticed it, or comented on it. I guess it depends on the nature of you warranty claim.
For the time i had it installed, about a year, it worked well in it's primary function. I was quite annoyed that it ruined my DAB reception, so bare that in mind. Is it worth it, well i am still on the fence about that. I think it depends on how well you can reverse park. But as for intergration with the existing vehicle screen, i think it is. FYI i no longer use it as i have installed some other head-unit that doesn't have a camera input, the camera worked fine till this point.
Thanks for uploading!!! Just used this video to install on my Fiesta - this video was perfect and saved me from lots of fascia chips / broken clips!

Is it just one cable from the front of the car to the back? Or do you need to wire up a 12V supply to the camera separate?

Great tutorial. One question. Do you have any idea about what additional cable you need to have direction guidelines on the camera?

I don't think that this kit (or any kit like it) can do direction guidelines, as this kit is non OEM. I could be wrong, however.

No, just the connection to the SYNC unit behind the dials. I suspect it knows when it's in reverse as the SYNC sees this on CANbus.
No coding needed ?
