I stand corrected. Coach Mac took the time to explain the 3 yard downfield rule which allows OL to get downfield (up to 3 yards) even when you are running normal WR routes. Thanks Coach!
Coach, great video! Hope you, your family and team stay safe from the hurricane. Best of luck with the rest of the season, my high school is in the middle of the season as well, league starts tomorrow. Love your ideas.
"The other team has high school kids." Great vid that taps the root of any good football system. Would love to see any/all of your stuff vs. 3-5. While most of the 3-3/3-5 teams we see are sub par, we encounter 1-2 great 3-5 defenses each season that truly give us fits.
I don't change my philosophy as far as the stack goes, i just check to see if they are 8 man or 7 man fronts for pass protection and run game strong/weak. Have to spend time working zone/gap schemes vs 3-3 movements throughout the year.
Coach, really good stuff, i really like your well rounded knowledge on both sides of the ball. On the RPO you would be better off having WRs running a Bubble or Turn route behind LOS if OL crossing LOS. Keep up the good work. You the best!
We try to take advantage of the 3 yard downfield rule as much as possible. Receiver screens or bubbles are not as effective in High School because we can't cut perimeter defenders in Florida. Gotta have stud WRS that can block.
Have you seen any film of Liberty Hill, Texas high school slot T football. I believe they have a up tempo winning program. When it is right, the fourth quarter is all theirs.
I was wondering on that last route set up with on the right side, you had post/curl against quarters I beleive if I'm not mistaken. wouldn't the SS have leverage on the curl and the FS on the post? I lack football experience but find your videos extremely helpful and pretty easy to understand. Sorry if I was wrong, just making sure I read the defenders from a QB pov. Thanks!
If it's quarters and the safety is playing 2 vertical then you are trying to get him down on the 10 yard vertical curl so you can throw the post. You can run dig as well by 2 if you like.
I'm coaching against Najee Harris in our section championship game on Dec 3. We plan on disguising our run support to hopefully get as many free tacklers to the Najee as we can. Maybe you can make a video or series about playing against 1 elite player and how to help your guys without destroying the integrity of your defense.
Coach I'm not sure I can help anybody stop Najee Harris or elite players for that matter. If There DNA is superior to guys on your team then all you can do is get extra hats and hope they play poorly.
I have thought about this single formation, tempo concept for years, but I've never pulled the trigger. You've put the bug back in my ear for next season. thanks for the video. Watched every single one thusfar. Do you get involved with Glazier clinics at all?
Good to hear, the more good coaches talking at these events the better. Keep up the good work, raw quality football is hard to come by on RUclips. You bring something out in each one of your videos that gets my creativity going. Any chance you will branch off into on the field stuff? From board to field?
Dorothy McDonald tempo is not hurry up. Tempo just means ‘tempo’. The ability to go fast, faster or fastest. Or slow. The ability to slow down the tempo of the game. You have to be a no huddle team to have the ability to be a tempo team. But being a no huddle doesn’t make you tempo. It just makes you no huddle
Appreciate it as always coach; hope all is well out there with that nasty weather. Do you ever go up tempo to pass much, or are you mainly a run heavy team?
Tempo just means you want to stay no huddle the entire game and snap the ball as fast as possible. (usually in a spread offense) The west coast offense is an entirely different animal.
One forMation football is a bad idea because the defence will eventually adjust however, it's good for your offense because it teaches kids football as they have less stuff to comprehend
Thomas MacPherson Well adjustment depends on the intelligence of players and i assume at that level its ok...if u do that in the nfl you are in deep deep trouble, i assume college too. Tempo means no huddle all the time?

Great video Coach, always great information and the summary at the end was terrific
Coach, great video! Hope you, your family and team stay safe from the hurricane. Best of luck with the rest of the season, my high school is in the middle of the season as well, league starts tomorrow. Love your ideas.
Love it coach...simple and effective...and High Tempo drives the defense crazy. great explanations.
"The other team has high school kids." Great vid that taps the root of any good football system.

Coach, thanks for clarifying the 3 yard rule in the scheme.
Have you seen any film of Liberty Hill, Texas high school slot T football. I believe they have a up tempo winning program. When it is right, the fourth quarter is all theirs.
Have not, will have to look it up
Hi coach, I play football at Argentina and I was wondering if you could help my team with a simple pro offense. Love these blogs!!! Thank you!!!!
I was wondering on that last route set up with on the right side, you had post/curl against quarters I beleive if I'm not mistaken. wouldn't the SS have leverage on the curl and the FS on the post? Can you make a video about the Tampa 2 coach ?? Or the unbalanced line?
Tampa 2 is basically cover 2 it’s really good against short passes but not long passes.

Great Stuff coach. I think 2 back Gun is very hard to deal with
I've coach 9-10 year old leagues and would like to move up to middle or maybe high school and would love some insight from great minds
Now a high school head coach!
I have thought about this single formation, tempo concept for years, but I've never pulled the trigger. You've put the bug back in my ear for next season. thanks for the video. Watched every single one thusfar. Do you get involved with Glazier clinics at all?
Speaking in Atlanta in February and Tampa in March. I don't call my offense right now so I may have to show older stuff.
Good to hear, the more good coaches talking at these events the better. Keep up the good work, raw quality football is hard to come by on RUclips. You bring something out in each one of your videos that gets my creativity going. Any chance you will branch off into on the field stuff? From board to field?
On the field stuff would be great, gotta be careful of time of year we do it so it's not illegal.
Tempo is hurry up offense if you wanted to know.

Coach..Can you do a video on defending 2back twin open?
Would love to Larry
Appreciate it as always coach; hope all is well out there with that nasty weather. Do you ever go up tempo to pass much, or are you mainly a run heavy team?
The key is throwing when you want not when you need to.
will this work with youth football....8-9 year olds
Coach do you have any books out?
Love what you are doing! Do you use any option routes for your receivers?
No sir we do not, QB is the only player with options.
20:40
Inside Zone/Flood RPO
You gave me an idea
Coach, Do you use a wristband or signals to call your plays in when going up tempo?
Signals, I think wristbands slow you down.
how 3-3 stack working out for you?
coach can show the "one formation football" vs the 4-2-5
Sure can Anthony.
Thomas MacPherson ....thanks will be waiting
What is tempo football? West coast?
Tempo just means you want to stay no huddle the entire game and snap the ball as fast as possible. (usually in a spread offense)
The west coast offense is an entirely different animal.
One forMation football is a bad idea because the defence will eventually adjust however, it's good for your offense because it teaches kids football as they have less stuff to comprehend
It's ok if the defense adjusts you have to have things built in to handle all scenarios. Tempo football means playing as fast as possible
Thomas MacPherson Well adjustment depends on the intelligence of players and i assume at that level its ok...if u do that in the nfl you are in deep deep trouble, i assume college too.
Tempo means no huddle all the time?
Penn St makes a living out of this formation lol
Sure do, and I try to
