It's very poetic that the series starts on the premise of humanity being almost eradicated by the Titans, which turns out to be a lie, only for Eren to turn it back into the truth.
Terrible terrible terrible... Should have stayed strictly humanity vs Titans . Too much deviation... The moment Erin became pathetic, "died", and turned into a Titan... that's when the show died for me.
Honestly if Marley just stayed away from paradise and didn't let their greed take over then this wouldn't have happened, the threat of the rumbling was an empty threat that was never meant to happen but the moment they decided to test fate they created a monster that would truly destroy the world
@@LordThomasPassionyour spitting facts. Very disappointing because kid eren is such a fire character. Him turning on his friends makes no sense because they all was on his meat from day 1 and would of sided with him in almost anything expect destroying the world
The simplicity of the rumbling is what makes it so terrifying to me. The wall Titans don’t chase or try to eat anyone or even change their expression. They just walk and they’re hot. The fact that they can still be killed is enough to give you a little bit of hope something can be done to stop them, but it’s like what Bane tells Batman, there can be no true despair without hope. Top that off with the fact that they’re being lead by a human-skeleton-centipede thing who is the size of an entire mountain range and it really becomes the worst of the worst nightmare. I can’t think of anything in any book or movie like it. It’s so original and iconic.

Ok but imagine a big strong kid bullying you for 2 years, and then he stops cuz he got bored and he goes to rest in his mansion, takes memory-erasing pill and continues life in peace without remorse, leaving you battered and dumbfounded. Before that, he threatened to stomp you to heaven if you try to seek justice for yourself (revenge). Then you came across the same steroids he was on that made him big and strong, it gave you confidence to confront him for what he’d done for 2 years. Turns out he had stronger steroids prescription than the one you had, and due to memory loss, he thinks he’s innocent and so he stomped you in self-defense even though you just wanted to hold him accountable for his past.
@@imthecoolest50 I feel you're leaving out the part of the analogy that, After finding the steroids, you yourself used them to bully other people for years, reasoning that it's only fair since you yourself were bullied. And by coincidence, your desire for "Justice" coincides with your supply of the steroids running out, and you happen to know the bully still has plenty of them. Yeah you'd be justified in getting your revenge (justice) on him, but you're also doing it because you want the steroids and are afraid of the people YOU'VE been bullying coming to get revenge/justice on YOU if you run out of the steroids. Or, lets be honest, a Better analogy would be if you where the son of the victim, going to get revenge on the son of the bully. Your father told you horrible stories about how vicious and horrible the bully was, but he never harmed YOU personally, and the bully's son has never harmed ANYONE and doesn't even know his father was a bully. Marley might have been the injured party, historically, but by the time of AoT (A time by which no one living in Marley had been alive during the time of the Eldian Empire, and no one living on Paradise had personally harmed anyone in the wider world), they were the ones using Titans to establish a global empire, and brutally oppressing both the Eldians allowing them to do so and the kingdoms they'd conquered. No one's hands are clean in AoT but the initiative to break the cycle was, at the time, in Marley's hands. But they didn't want to break the cycle, they wanted their turn at the top.
That's not even a corect analogy. It's a bad analogy. The current occupants of Paradis Island have nothing to do with the actions of the former empire. The 'victim' has been oppressing the descendants of the old empire for generations, both in the And to top it off, even if you were right ,which you are not, why? Why would you go after them? It's actually millions of Titans. In the show they even specify that it's millions. It's enough of them to trample the entire planet into dust just by walking in an expanding circle outward from Paradis.
Ya that’s the scene that actually made me tear up a bit, honestly something I realized was in like the first rumbling scene when it’s in Marley, they show the titans with angry faces in a way of showing erens anger and hatred for Marley but then after Marley, they show the titans with neutral expressions, as if tryna say it has to be done
I didn't feel anything to be honest. I knew it's just for added shock value and was symbolic but one life doesn't mean much when entire cities, countries are decimated. Fear in Marleyan soldier's eyes and their face expressions, running for life, Ramzi dying under feet with teeth crushing, people fighting each other for access to escape route or cars. These scenes were much better at showing what would happen in such scenario. Maybe what was missing would be some faction or these soldiers to use weapons that were meant to protect their people, against them while trying to secure selfishly some car/airplane and save themselves.
The barren land struck me more than most of the death scenes...Eren really destroyed the world. Entire ecosystems of fish, birds, land animals, fuana, potentially the atmosphere of the planet.
I just hope that it continues. Especially after the ending theme song showed the world after hundreds of years there's a boy who finds a tree similar to the one ymir found 2000 years ago. So it would be nice to see a sequel
Yes. It really drives home how irrational Eren's useage of the Rumbling is. Like, really? *Those* guys are threats to Paradis Island as well? They are literally completely blameless even by the farthest stretch of the imagination.
@@nonuvurbeeznus795 I understand that Marley was a huge threat to Paradis, but there were far more options before Eren got to "genocide the entire world." Onyankopon has no prejudice against the Eldians, which kind of implies that other countries, or at least the citizens of other countries, didn't buy into Marleyan propaganda.
@@Magikalicalso because a lot of countries hated Marley as well, so a partial rumbling to destroy the coalition's fleet would surely be enough for the alliance to dismantle and go against Marley. But Eren had other plans.

Its very hard to desrcibe but its utterly terrifying to see and then added with gospel like chrous it really feels like some biblical apocalypse
The colossal titans being able to swim that fast is terrifying. Marley warships should've been closer to the shore so they had more time to unload every last shell when the Colossals would be forced to stop to stand but I assume even they're surprised by the speed they swim at. It's worse than a Nuke, at least if you get hit with one you're dead instantly within the blast zone. This is like watching a nuclear bomb walking to you and there's nothing you can do against it but run until it eventually catches up and either slowly roasts you alive or you get crushed by debris/giants.
He really did destroy 80%. That's why we saw Paradis Island thrive for a few hundred years. It took that long for the world to re-populate and come after them. Insane!
@@sarubet8725By that point, the whole war, hell even titans have prolly been forgotten or no ones gives a fuck anymore. That's the point of what Eren did, he ended the cycle of violence between Eldia and Marley along with the Curse of Ymir, but in the end no matter what anyone does humans would still fight each other. It doesn't make sense for the rest of the world to just catch up like that and take revenge.
Honestly prolly the scariest, cuz firstly u cud hear their steps, the grounds shaking so people start running, but the titans get closer and closer and eventually either stomp on you, or u burn from the heat they make
You could still escape at a top of a huge mountain as it was shown in this video where there were people in Africa and the runmbling passed beside a mountain
Even if you don't get stepped on, you still die because of the incredible heat the Wall Titans give off. You wouldn't even be safe in under ground shelters, as the entrances would be destroyed, trapping you, and with no-one on the surface to come and dig you out, you basically entombed yourself.
Yeah, but Earth is huge so either Titans march in the dense row only slowly burning one narrow spot or they spread away, but then they are weakening the rumbling the further away they spread.
@@metal87powerim guessing because of the fact that there’s a lot of ocean the titans didn’t have to be as spread out as you might think and also thinning out would still be effective since the original amount was already overkill
@@cantinadudesEven that wouldn't help, at a certain point you would have to land to refuel and Eren has the titans marching in every direction around the world. The only way to safely escape by Air and land without being trampled on or burned to death would be to fly towards and land on Paradis all without refueling. But even that's not a viable option because the Yeagerists have the entire island surrounded and on lockdown. As instructed by Floch and the other rebel leaders. Submarine wouldn't work either because the Titans can swim at deep depths without needing oxygen while as humans do. He really did put humanity in checkmate.
The wall Titans are an allegory for nuclear weapons, which is why the heat is such a prominent feature of how they kill. The wall Titans were basically nuclear deterrents and the rumbling nuclear holocaust. The rumbling is both a horrific memory of Hiroshima/Nagasaki and a future warning of the impact of a global nuclear holocaust. Thematically speaking the power to see the future lies in knowledge of the past - because humanity is doomed to constantly repeat itself
The Rumbling left me feeling genuinely uneasy. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to watch. However some of the absolute best media I’ve seen in years.
@@christianrobledo6172The irony with the war sequence is that; humanity, at least the ones who helped with the subjugation of the machines, truly deserved it. All the brutality committed by the machines during the war was mostly justified. If they hadn’t persecuted and launched a genocide on the machines, exiled them to a desert region, and then declared war on them when they saw them growing too powerful, then humanity wouldn’t have become batteries for the machines. The machines were all too willing to use diplomacy, even after being exiled into a barren desert wasteland, but humanity refused, and suffered the consequences for it.
I was feeling the terror, pain and despair with the Protagonists as the episodes went on. What a masterpiece, what an anime, what a studio. So sad it ended, even if it had to
The scarier part of The Rumbling is that more deaths would’ve taken place, even after the power of the titans left the world, since the survivors would have no place to return to, probably not even food or water to survive.
That's the point of the Rumbling within the confines of the story, and the point of the allegory being made about atomic holocaust. The ultimatum from Paradis was always "Leave us alone or everyone dies,". That is also the threat when it comes to nuclear weapons.

This honestly didn't feel like enough time to portray how much catastrophe and suffering The Rumbling brought to the world. The ecological collapse, the fear, the confusion, the suffering. We got like 4 minutes of the world getting destroyed plus the two brothers. They could have made half the movie about that montage just to deliver the on the true horror of war.
They had to censor a lot of it, that’s why it’s shorter. The manga rumbling was waaaay more brutal than the anime. Especially the part at the temples, you can see a few monks praying and ready to accept their fate, but then at the last second a few of them lose their faith and try to run. But it didn’t matter, the Titan’s foot was already touching their heads. You can literally see people’s faces being crushed in half ☠️
Agreed, that’s the one of the very few complaints I have. Maybe it was too hard to animate, idk. I still think there could have been more scenes or the the Rumbling scenes could’ve played out longer.
That's less swimming and more "I have become torpedo" considering how they're mostly being propelled by their heat and their swimming being more for stability.
I've said this plenty of times and I'll say it again, the scene of Armin yelling and crying like a maniac to his own unconscious body, calling himself a useless piece of garbage and how he hates himself. That's already gotten me teary eyed. It wasn't until the scene DIRECTLY AFTER where they show more of the Rumbling and the scene of the group of people near the cliff edge. That completely BROKE me. That Armin scene was so good, his VA is incredible. And yeah, putting the Rumbling right after that, all the people he’s trying so hard to save was perfect.

That random man catching the baby and pushing him forward …and in those final moments all of those ppl kept pushing the baby forward, just to give him just a few more moments of life while they fell back to their demise and all you hear is a baby crying….all while the Rumbling was mere seconds away from trampling the rest of them…. Such an amazing anime, the end was incredibly bittersweet. Also my sons middle name is Reiner lol :')
13:17 This shot right here is the most terrifying shot in the whole rumbling scene for me. Getting stomped by colossal titan or crushed by building debris is already bad enough but at least it's quick one but got burned by colossal titan steam meanwhile a several colossal titan also marching towards you must be the most gruesome and the worst death scene in AoT, not only it's painful (i've read that burned to dead is one of the most (if not the most) painful way to die) BUT it's also slow, you suffer every second of it and in the end you'll most likely also get stomped by colossal titan.
I can relate to your view. Because just imagine if one person had the ability to nuke majority of humankind. The top nations have this power and since war exist and we are all always fighting I wouldn’t be surprised if humanity was just annihilated by nukes. Not to mention there are different variants from nukes and if the nuke won’t kill u the radiation will if that don’t kill u then the climate will cause if everywhere was to be nuked nature would kill us to so where will be no escape. Although with how our world is today and we humans will never achieve peace as long as we exist, annihilating the world doesn’t seem so bad even if that includes me to die.
I actually wanted to see more scenes of the rumpling...80% humans got erased is huge so we needed like more than 5 mins rumpling scenes in the final episode to give as a full perspective
0:10 Wow. It's like even Founder Ymir knew what would happen before she gave Eren her power. And she didn't have the Attack Titan to see into the future.
That’s the years and years of hatred in her heart for the world. The enslavement of herself and her ancestors and she had to witness it for all those many years, powerless after the King moved to Paradis and used his vows and shit to inhibit the rumbling. Now, eren has unleashed her true hatred.
As if seeing these gigantic scalding hot humanoids stomping right towards you in an endless line wasn't terrifying enough, it's seeing their blank human-like faces that also makes it unsettling.
Do you know something? When I saw these scenes and heard Eren's exclamation that he was now free, I simultaneously imagined a scene of the Rumble's arrival in New York while the Statue of Liberty impassively watches the arrival of the Titans on the east coast of the United States. As well as chilling panoramas in culturally differentiated places such as Berlin, Moscow, Istanbul, Tokyo, New Delhi and other cities of that time.
I keep looking at my home in Suburban CT and imagining seeing the Titans rising from Case Mountain to my normal walking route. Seeing where I'd have to run and knowing I wouldn't make it far makes it feel so much more terrifying.

The one that got me so hard was the baby crying. As the world was crying for help. The people were raising the baby high into the air. They were trying to save the last hope for humanity. They were calling out to God to save them from that nightmare.
Armin realizing it, realizing Eren's true intentions, even if he didn't understand WHY at the time, was so heartbreaking. Eren chose to become the villain, the nightmare to end all nightmares, so they'd leave his friends, people, and home alone. He just wanted them to be free, even if he couldn't be. Thinking just how far back he used the attack titans power in order to lead to the moment he got that power then every other power after... It's sad. Terrifying. Unfathomable, really. He was never going to get to share a future with them. He was never going to get to be happy. Instead of being paralyzed by despair, he did something about it to ensure his friends got to experience what he wouldn't. The attack titan always strives for freedom, but they never said it would always be their own.
I cannot imagine the surge of terror the Marleyans and those animals must have felt as the arrival of a wave of creatures of metal and flame swept across the continents and crushed the tectonic plates under them. The Titan looks horrified at what it is doing and it does not want to destroy these people and their buildings. Every land was engulfed in flames and fury of Eren Yeager. With each footstep the Monsters flattened the ground and pressed it deeper within the Earth. The Titans’ walking was faster than a galloping horse. The Titans were a weapon forced of the human inside of them to witness what destruction their Titan body is doing. The revenge of Eren Yeager was too far. He destroyed the Earth just by taking a walk with his Titans. This bloody march left the cities and forests scorched with death of millions upon the arrival of the wave of Colossals. What is the most tragic part? Those humans came to the edge of the cliff, leading to vast ocean and nothing else. With the Titans behind them, a mother of a young baby jumped into the ocean and threw her baby into the giant crowd, hoping her baby wouldn't have to suffer the same fate she did. One of the people was kind enough to catch the baby. They raised their arms up and prayed that - a force from the heavens will spare them. A fleet of gigantic in the 10,000-50,000 ton range monsters walking on everything on the land of Earth while spreading fire and terror upon their action? All a mixed feeling of vengeance, anger, sadness, and regret in the form of a big bone with hair and giant skinless people. Terrifying.
I think what makes this worse, is the fact that everyone was targeted. The artists even went out of their way to draw and create civilizations and tribes that were completely uninvolved with the Eldians at all. They were also slaughtered. The complete lack of focus is so chilling because it shows just how little Eren has grown as a character; he's still a child lashing out at the world and thinking that the destruction of the world is freedom. Even the nations that were friendly to Eldia (Hizuru) are specifically shown to also be targeted by the Rumbling, and that's not taking into account the Eldians who were also crushed by the Rumbling when the titans were leaving the island. There is no justifying Eren's actions. Even if you argue that the Marlayans deserved to be destroyed, nothing justifies the destruction of the literal planet, the sterilization of the ecosystem and countless countries and people who were literally uninvolved with what happened in Eldia. Even Eldia is screwed. What little government remained was slaughtered and the nation was even sterilized by the Rumbling as the Titans left the island. And the power vacuum was replaced with a Facist, 1930s Japanese style government which is on par with NAzi Germany - the LAST kind of government you want to see rise to power. There were even riots in Eldia proper about the Rumbliing, that Hitch savagely put down. So even Eldia is in a state of terror and instability. And all the technology is also lost - the Yaegeristes go out of their way to destroy all the boats, planes, trains, cars, etc. So Eldia isn't a thriving technological hub. The technology has regressed to where the story started. It's practivally medieval. And the worst part : the world will never recover. The damage to the planet was so severe that there's no way the ecosystem can be fully restored. And humanity might never fully recover from such a devastation. The ending confirms it : Eldia turns into a militaristic expansionist empire who thinks it needs to kill everyone else to survive. But the rest of the world doesn't have a choice. They literally need to kill the Eldians because the Eldians have shown that they can and will wipe out humanity. There's no hope for peace. Both sides know for absolute certainty that co-existence is impossible. And if you think that the world will become a prosperous land, don't bother. The Rumbling sterilized the entire land. It's impossible for agriculture to grow. Plantlife will recover yes, but it will be little more than grass. There is no agricultural farmland left. And nearly all the know how has been lost. And we're not even talking about how this will affect the climate of the planet. The eco-system is utterly fucked beyond recovery. And the greatest tragedy? Eren gets away with it. He's killed at the hands of Mikasa who makes this quick. So he never has to deal with any of the consequences of the atrocities that he has wrought. I think AoT is a very good story, because it tells the story of a villain from the beginning, and this villain straight up WINS. Everything turns exactly like he had hoped, and everyone becomes exactly like him - eager to kill everyone every last one of them. Eren got his wish - the entire world was destroyed, and the very few civilisations that survived will never recover. Life has been reduced to just a few pockets in the world.

Eren Yeager grew up with a specific world image that made him into the person he was, someone who never stops fighting to be free. Sadley he had the power of a god inside of him, so, like all people with too much power, he malioucley abused it to make the world into something more suited to his own personal world view. Humanity wiped out by Titans. There is so much talk about multi layer motivations and such, and while I think its true that Eren is not just simply a monster, he his psychotic and always has been. He even says so himslef. "I have always been like this." There is no middle ground. Eren is a monster.
Its crazy to think had Armin, Zeke, or Levi even took just a second longer all life would've been gone. Think about it the titans steam in the water surely evaporated most of it, wildlife mostly gone, a good portion of marine life potentially died. Humanity got trampled. Eren left the world in a state that it would take centuries to recover
But his friends live a long life, Paradis is saved for many centuries. You can’t blame him for using rumbling when the world decided to attack them first.
@@smelllikeyourmomspirit7394which the world only did because Eren decided to show them that they were devils and were intent on destroying the world. If Eren never attacked, no other nation would have joined Marley
@@PandaCroft you can't say that for sure, your point doesn't have 100% reliability, wich made sense eren chooses the only path that lead the story to a Reliable ending, he wanted TO MAKE SURE to have it how he wanted, you can't trust your guts when it comes to your country being obliterated, what if eren didn't take the warhammer and marley decided to attack anyways? it would be a massacre, with the power of the warhammer marley would be unstoppable on a planned invasion, also, without eren going to marley, we wouldn't have zeke on paradis side to activate any sort of power That's means, if shits go bad, Paradis is over
@roftNo, this was done in response to the proclamation of war of extermination against Paradis that Willy Tybur had issued and the subsequent naval and aerial invasion that followed. It's almost like we hadn't watched the same show or something. Had Eren and the survey corps sat on their hands and done nothing (which was the Hange's original plan), they all would have been killed. The world struck first with a genocidal war, they got a genocidal war back. The only thing people can't seem to reconcile here is the fact that in a fiction's biggest equivalent of the trolley dilemma, Eren chose to redirect the train towards five people instead of one, because what that one person represented was dearer to him. I too would choose the lives of my friends or my relatives over five strangers, or five billion strangers and I am not ashamed to admit that. Anyone that would not is either a lunatic or a liar.
There is a reoccurring trend I've noticed in anime, especially series where fear and hatred are a theme. I am going to refer to this trope as the Scapegoat since it bears a strong resemblance to that ceremonial tradition. For those unaware, the Scapegoat was part of a cleansing ritual, where a village would symbolically put their sins upon a single goat before driving that goat from the village, carrying the Sin and Evil away from the village. Spoilers ahead In Attack on Titan (Which still makes more sense with the more faithful translation, "The Advance of the Giants", even if it sounds like a D&D Module), Eren seeks to become the embodiment of the world's fears about Eldians by triggering the Rumbling and pulling no punches. He set up his downfall when he made Armin and Mikasa believe that he had changed, turning on them. His plan ultimately was to have those he cared about kill him to stop the Rumbling, showing the world that most Eldians meant them no harm. Of course, from a Grim and yet Pragmatic standpoint, the Backup exists where those he knew could stop the Rumbling didn't break out of their stupor, in which case they are still safe as Eren would have literally stomped out the hatred...He'd be a monster in their eyes, but they'd be safe. We see that the Plan doesn't stop war from coming to the Island of Paradis (At least in the Manga), but it delays it several lifetimes (at least long enough for MLRS to be in use by the Paradis Military). In Code Geass (R2), both Lelouch and Schneizel attempt this in a way, but while Lelouch intends to use himself as the Scapegoat, Schneizel tries to use a satellite capable of launching Nukes around the world, maintaining peace through threat of arms. Lelouch realizes that Schneizel's plan doesn't exactly solve the problem, just suppressing it, so he sends the weapons platform into the sun while he gathers the world's hatred onto himself, releasing it in Catharsis during the Zero Requiem. Unlike Attack on Titan, this apparently does work...at least long enough for the Closing Monologue of Season 2...And before you start, I know about Season 3, and I understand it is a parallel universe. I admittedly haven't watched this far into Naruto (Shippuden), but I am to understand that Sauseke attempts something of a hybrid of Lelouch and Schneizel when he turns into an antagonist. He intends to threaten the world into peace with his power and live on as a threat, but he also is drawing all the world's hatred onto himself. I understand Naruto rightly points out the problem with that plan, what happens when Sasuke dies? When you bottle up a problem, it doesn't go away, it just gets worse...
This. Sacrifice only works for a time. The greater the more "efficient". Then you have to do it again. The more you do it the more it seems justified and the harder it is to actually stop doing it. It is how everything works when faith is removed from the equation of Reality. Drugs, attachment, knowledge, success, self esteem, territories, identity, etc...
What’s the most horrible part of the Rumbling is how the Wall Colossal Titans aren’t so aggressive in their actions They calmly, mindlessly walk, march around the world. Using simply their brute size, strength, and infinite numbers cause all the suffering literally underfoot And it’s all caused by a young man who isn’t really evil or takes pleasure in what he’s doing He’s only doing this because he literally searched every possiblity across time and space, and felt this way is the only way to create a future where his loved ones can live long lives, even if he’s not around to be with them
Frieza destroying Planet Vegeta is really iconic but it was relatively fast (not so much from Bardock's perspective though) but it pales in comparison to this in terms of hopelessness and impending doom. the Rumbling has to be one of the creepiest apocalyptic scenarios in anime.

The Rumbling is so simple and yet so fucking terrifying. They dont do anything ,they are just walking... The scene with the baby was what topped it off for me... since i have kids scenes like this always sends goosebumps down my spine.
I have never seen read or known in any other way, an apocalypse like this. It's so frightening. It really scares me to think on a "real" rumbling. This anime is a MASTERPIECE and there's no such other like it. Period.
I still wish they used a more tragic rendition of Footsteps of Doom for that last bit. I think it would've made it infinitely better. The track used was great, but I think it could've been better
What’s more terrifying then hearing a baby cry in the midst of thousands of people being trampled and falling to their deaths, the heart strings little pulled right out, always brings a tear to my eye every time I’ve seen that scene
What always kind of bothered me is that there is no way the Walls had enough titans in them for the Rumbling to cover the whole Earth. Not to mention at the speed they're walking it would probably take years.
There's a total of 500,000 wall Titans out there. That's half a million. So each country gets like 10,000 colossal stomping around in just a couple of days
They’re 500,00 or so that were spread into groups moving nonstop over a period of 4 days. Let’s say they move 45mph which is faster than a galloping horse. One group can cover 4,320 miles in those 4 days. The United States is 2,802 miles roughly. So the entire US is easily wiped out in under the 4 days they were traveling.
I would image if they said faster than a galloping horse, they just had no other faster reference that would fit better so it might be a lot higher than 45 mph
One estimate is apparently approx 585,000 Wall Titans, at 13meters abreast. Earth's surface area is 510 million km^2 --> 510000000000m^2 585,000 * 13meters = 7605000m. At 45mph --> ~72kph --> 72000meters/h 7605000 * 72000 = 547000000000m. With the amount of Wall Titans there are, there are apparently enough of them to have collectively walked the almost the entire surface area of the Earth in about an hour. "But wait! Thats not how circles work!" You say. Circumference expands 2 * pi faster than the radius. And indeed, the circumference of the Earth is 40000km --> 40000000m. So assuming each of the 585,000 titans starts walking perfectly straight forward from their starting positions, there would eventually be gaps of about 5 or 6 meters between each Titan, at the point where they are the most spread out. .... not that spread out in the end, huh. Jus do a bit of zigzagging. Lastly, would it really take years? If the circumference is 40000km, they'd only need to go halfway to reach the opposite end of the planet, meet up, and thus cover all the surface area. 20000km, at the sleepless, relentless, all-terrain pace of 45km/h is gonna take just 444 hours, and that ends up being barely 18 days. Of course, this all ends up being reliant on the assumption there are 585,000. Someone once said there are millions of Wall TItans. But the size of Madagascar, which some people think Paradis is the equivalent of, is about 6.5 times smaller than Wall Maria is estimated to be. Up to you I guess.

Are they even aware of their actions? Is it scarier that they may not be?

The attack titan always strives for freedom, but they never said it would always be their own.
ah realising world peace!!! by killling 80% of the population 💀
Terrifying.
You should be an author 😮

When it was revealed to him that his world, the world that gave him his lifes purpose, was simply wrong and he would never be free of not just Titans, but humanity as well, he couldnt accept it.
"I have always been like this."
There is no middle ground. Eren is a monster.

@roftNo, this was done in response to the proclamation of war of extermination against Paradis that Willy Tybur had issued and the subsequent naval and aerial invasion that followed.

In Attack on Titan (Which still makes more sense with the more faithful translation, "The Advance of the Giants", even if it sounds like a D&D Module), Eren seeks to become the embodiment of the world's fears about Eldians by triggering the Rumbling and pulling no punches.
I greatly appreciate this analysis, thanks!
What’s the most horrible part of the Rumbling is how the Wall Colossal Titans aren’t so aggressive in their actions
They calmly, mindlessly walk, march around the world. Using simply their brute size, strength, and infinite numbers cause all the suffering literally underfoot
And it’s all caused by a young man who isn’t really evil or takes pleasure in what he’s doing
He’s only doing this because he literally searched every possiblity across time and space, and felt this way is the only way to create a future where his loved ones can live long lives, even if he’s not around to be with them
He still did it tho, genocide isnt something anyone should forgive like ever
He didn't search very hard because Zeke's plan would have accomplished the exact same thing but with a much lower body count.

i get the hardest goosebumbs every time i see this scenes. The music, the direction of shots , its all just perfect for a hopeless apocalypse scenario
Mappa fully captured just how Terryfying the rumbling really is
Frieza destroying Planet Vegeta is really iconic but it was relatively fast (not so much from Bardock's perspective though) but it pales in comparison to this in terms of hopelessness and impending doom.
the Rumbling has to be one of the creepiest apocalyptic scenarios in anime.
The people that wholeheartedly support Eren really missed the entire message of the show
There's no message Eren was retconned at the last chapter

One shot from Levi and it all stopped.
Zeke also thought Eren was crazy shyt. And begged to be slice off. Now they’re sorta equal, Zeke and Levi’s battle was overdued way long ago, now it feels satisfying.
Levi should've stopped Zeke WAY before this happened. Eren wouldn't have been able to activate the Rumbling if Levi hadn't played with his food.
@@rebelfighter5249 at that point in the story the military was still going for the 50 year plan (mini rumbling to destroy only military targets) If Levi had killed Zeke at that point there would have been no way to obtain access to the Founder's powers, which would have effectively doomed Paradis to the coming Marleyan invasion
And Zeke also made peace with himself before he die.

That swimming colossial titan looks like crazy to me
This is literally hell at their front doors
The Rumbling is so simple and yet so fucking terrifying. They dont do anything ,they are just walking... The scene with the baby was what topped it off for me... since i have kids scenes like this always sends goosebumps down my spine.
I was waiting for someone to compile all of the rumbling into one vid. Dankeschön

ELO comes to mind, which was never used. However, Guilty Hero is still great.
I think it's supposed to show all the pressure that Armin was feeling. So Guilty Hero really fits perfectly.
We got the gruesome theme with "ordinary day" so now we got a more depressing but less horrifying ost with "guilty hero".
13:09 A lot of people who were trampled to death during the rumbling were trampled to death by other people.
8:49 IT WAS THAT MOMENT WHERE THE LYRICS FINALLY MADE SENSE ❤
All the Time The Music was the biggest Foreshadowing !
@@QKnowDaVibezZso the aot world is small as shit?
I would image if they said faster than a galloping horse, they just had no other faster reference that would fit better so it might be a lot higher than 45 mph
One estimate is apparently approx 585,000 Wall Titans, at 13meters abreast. Earth's surface area is 510 million km^2 --> 510000000000m^2
585,000 * 13meters = 7605000m. At 45mph --> ~72kph --> 72000meters/h
7605000 * 72000 = 547000000000m.
Eren: Humanity outside the walls was destroyed by the titans...
World outside Paradis: Actually we're fine!
Eren: Did I fucking stutter?
