- Jesus is baptized, and the Father acclaims Him as His Beloved Son.
Matthew 3:13-17
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

I will never regret my decision on being baptized. I actually got baptized when I was pretty young. I remember sitting in church and then I told my parents that I wanted to be baptized. My parents then told my preacher. So they took me up to the alter and prayed with me, and then I got baptized❤️❤️ And now that I'm baptized I feel like God is always by my side❤️

Christ's example is so perfect! He had to be baptized first before beginning His ministry, thus showing us that we too need to be baptized by those who have "authority from the Almighty God" to start on His path and follow His example.
I too was touched by his grabbing John's arm at hearing His Father's voice at 2:24. He must have missed His Father and it must have brought Him comfort to hear His voice again.

I was baptized as a baby as a catholic and rebaptized when I was 16. When I came out of the water I just remember being so happy and warm (even though the water was cold lol) but I’ve never been that happy in my whole life and it was weird because that feeling took me over. My faith has been broken for a couple of years due to depression and I’m far from a perfect Christian because I question his existence a little too often but that feeling of happiness immediately after being baptized is something I can’t explain. God I wish that I can love myself for the first time and not think about suicide because I know that you have not abandoned me and that I am only being tested. I have not been to church in a long while but I thank Beacon Baptist church for helping me and my family being saved.
He is always there for you! You are always welcome at church! I struggle with depression and have all my life. Through therapy, meds, prayer, and church attendance, I promise it gets better. In my 45 years of dealing with this affliction, Heavenly Father, my friend, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost have ever been with me.

Was the Bible written before or after Jesus's passing. So many versions of the Bible, so which version is the correct words of God? Do we have the untranslated original version of the Bible? If not, who are these people translating it? how reliable is their translation of the Bible?
Ezekiel was addressed in the Bible as Son of Man. Jesus spoke of "the peace makers" as Sons of God. Any person who followed the Will and Plan of God was called SON OF GOD. So how many sons does God have? Is Jesus really the son of God or just a prophet?

@sweetsweatyfeet Jesus was baptized for two reasons. The first reason is because even if He was perfect, He demonstrated to the Father that He was willing to obey. The second reason is to set an example for us.

Dee Money1990 baptism is our promise to Heavenly Father that we are willing to become like Him. It is how we become a member of His church and we renew our promises with Him each time we take the sacrament, because we are remembering Christ.
Jesus was baptized because it was at His baptism that He took upon Himself the entire sins of the world. That's why He asks John to permit it for now, for it is fitting for all Righteousness (what is to come) to be fulfilled. That's also why after the baptism only does John refer to Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
See, the reason why Jesus can take our sins here, is because it has all already been foreshadowed in the Old Testament. In the sacrificial system, the high priest has to lay their hands on an unblemished animal and pass the sins of Israel into the animal, then the animal was killed and Israel was sent scot free. But because the blood of an animal is temporal, it had to be done yearly.
Jesus Christ represents that unblemished animal-perfect in every way. John the Baptist is that High Priest (Luke 1:5 - he comes from the Aaronic Lineage). When Christ was baptized, all our sin and all that we are was passed onto Him. That's why only after that He was hated on, bruised, cursed at and worse, because the wages which sin pays is death, Christ had to die! Because our sin was on Him, He had to go to the cross to pay the ultimate price for our sins. But because He is God, He resurrected from the dead-an act of hope for us who have been united with Him at His baptism, walked with Him for 3 years and died with Him on the cross to all that we are and once were. It's in this hope that we have and can receive a new life (which is why we are called born-again Christians).

My uncle was dying of cancer and was in really bad shape back in 2006 and had never believed in the bible or God and about 1 year before he died he called up my dad and said he got saved and was crying and so happy, we took him to get baptized and then he died the next year at age 63, God is still willing to save people even at the last moments of life...
