  • This is a simple easy to tie rockfish set up that can be used to catch everything from lingcod to rockfish here on the California coast. You can have up to two hooks in California when fishing for rockfish. This is your basic rockfish gangion style rig that can be used when fishing for rockfish and lingcod.
    The bottom loop can be tied as shown or can be the weight can be tied directly to the line or a swivel can be used.

    These are fairly simple to tie and can save you a ton of money. I prefer the shrimp fly over just regular bare hooks in case the bait falls off I still have something to attract the fish.

    I've always been a freshwater fisherman, but I caught my first surfperch thanks to your tutorials. And now, I'm making my own (amateur/crappy) RUclips videos. Thanks for all of the tips and advice!

    If you revers the threading of the hook! As running the line through the eyelet on the hook barb side. You will have a more successful hookups!!!!! Nice video and great help.

    Great tutorial. I make these but I use a triple surgeons knot instead of dropper loops. I need to watch your dropper loop video because the way you do them is much quicker/easier than the way I've been shown. What do you call that hitch? I'm a bit deaf and couldn't make it out.

    Do you use the 7/0 or 5/0 for the shrimp flies that u linked in the description?

    • @CckfNet
      @CckfNet  4 года назад

      I use both depending on the size of the fish I am going after. Usually start with a 7/0 but if i am getting short bites, I will switch it up to the smaller hook

    What kind of leader material are you using? Fluoro? Mono?

    • @CckfNet
      @CckfNet  5 лет назад

      Mono is fine, these fish are not line shy at all

    So I’ve barely got into fishing this year, pretty much have been skunked every outing. Mostly going for surf perch around Ventura county/ Santa Barbara area and trout at cachuma, I think my problem is hook size, mind helping this poor newbie?

    • @CckfNet
      @CckfNet  5 лет назад +1

      Guess both are completely different applications and techniques to catch them. If you feel your getting bites but not hooking them do try downsizing hooks.

    • @gaijillahimself908
      @gaijillahimself908 4 года назад

      It really comes down to mouth size and feeding technique. Trout need tiny hooks. I have even heard a carp fisherman say he only uses size 18 hooks to land big fish! On the other hand, fishing for tough fish such as bass or rockfish with big mouths requires beefier hooks.

    What do people use swivels for?

    • @MayorMcheese12
      @MayorMcheese12 3 года назад

      Keep your line from tangling up also gives your bait more free movement

    Dude every time I go fishing off a rock jetty my shit gets caught in the rocks and I have to cut it :/ makes me feel bad cause I hate leaving line in the ocean and I lose out on line and $!

    • @CckfNet
      @CckfNet  3 года назад

      Jettys are tough angle makes it really hard to not get snagged would say stick to 1 hook and limit movement.
