My favorite song in the whole game is Egg Fortress Act 2.
Same, I think the song just needs a little more in the middle then it would've been the best track in the entire game
not sure if that's controversial, I think mostly everyone agrees its good and is one of the best from the soundtrack despite being very repetitive for most of it, at least Jun is using the guitar for once instead of the sonic 4 instruments (btw the compositions of the "bad" music is good, its just the instruments they use which sound bad)

It's not the actual Genesis sound, and besides, he composed several songs for Sonic 3&K and 3D Blast Genesis

Actual Classic Sonic games tried to make the Genesis' YM2612 chip sound like actual instruments, but with Sonic 4, Forces' Classic Sonic music and most of Superstars, they just did the complete opposite.
I feel like Jun completely missed the point of Classic Sonic music
Despite the fact I really like his "Sonic 4 type beat" songs, I think he's more talented when he uses a guitar

6:26 Glad to see that someone still remembers that the Trumpet is always and will always be the Icing on the cake when it comes to Sonic Music because honestly, Trumpets, Violins, Violas, Cellos, Double Bass, Harp, Guitars, Electric Guitars, Electric Bass, Saxaphones, Percussion, and Pianos always come through (yeah, I'm kind of an Instrument nerd :P)
Golden Capital 2 is actually phenomenal.
This OST has the case of there really isn’t a song I “dislike” (besides the menu theme and some of the battle songs) but the mid stuff is just outshined by the good stuff. So many better songs than GC Act 2, but it’s still great

Update: I've finally been able to play and beat sonic superstars and just as I suspected most people are getting mad at the game with the "difficulty" despite it being their skill issue, the levels weren't that difficult, although I do agree the later bosses are pretty hard although I enjoyed the game so, this game is an 8/10 for me really. Superstars is better than 1, 2, and CD although it's definitely not as good as Sonic 3&K and Mania. People need to calm down especially with the soundtrack (I am talking to you Aquaponieee)
(Also, yes, Mugimikey called me out 😢)
Update 2: Finally was able to beat Trip's Story and the True Final Boss, and wow my opinion changed, trips story is just too brutal for being hard mode although its not bad when you learn what comes your way, the real struggle is the bosses themselves, the final boss is a pain in the ass, anyways trips story made me realize that I'm being too generous 7/10 now overall in the game, as for the True final boss, it was a lot more easier really just grab those rings learn the patterns and you're good if you struggle on Trip's story, I don't blame you, if you struggle on the main story, thats a huge skill issue

I will say this: Sonic 4 E1 boss theme: why this bad... E2 boss theme: it is... acceptable
Both acts of Press Factory are one of those songs that on your first listen you don’t like but slowly grow on you
The Sonic 4 music is actually really good (for both Sonic 4 and Sonic Superstars) but if you want abysmal sonic music than look no farther than Sonic Jam for the Game Com and Sonic Chronicles

06 was worse than Forces on a technical level, but 06 was also a more interesting game. Forces was just bland and forgettable. While 06 was very flawed, it was memorable and ambitious. That's why it's being remade via Project 06 to great reception.

Unpopular opinion, but I really liked the music from both sonic 4 games. Never knew a lot of people hated the music from those games, as I’ve seen comments from others elsewhere how ‘jun be lacking’. I know everyone has their opinions, but that’s just mine. I loved the superstars ost and it’s just a bop overall.

Ep 1, eh. Ep 2 has great music in the first half.
All of these opinions are objectively correct. Something I've noticed with Jun's music is that the compositions themselves are great, it's just that godawful faux-genesis synths. If you listen to versions with altered instruments, they sound immediately better. And with the ones that are already amazing like Press Factory, the change in instrumentation makes them perfect.
Hot take: I like the Sonic 4 stuff here

I used to think that Press Factory Zone had pretty mediocre music, but after listening to both Act 1 and 2 for extensive periods of time, i have come to the conclusion that they are very good.

I think If press factory had better volume mixing, it probably would not be criticized as much.
But I 100% agree with your takes on the soundtrack.
Jun Senoue is a great music artist in the sonic franchise, but his style of genesis sound design can be rough on the ears. (I do not hate it btw) I think sonic 4 Ep 2 has a great soundtrack from a rhythm composition perspective (even though it’s a bit under cooked)
What I find interesting is that this kind of criticism happened to both Mighty No. 9 and Mega Man 11, both of those games had good music.
So if you want to piss off more people for views, make a video on the music of those games.

Edit: take back what you said about the special stage theme. There are better themes in my personal opinion, such as the Saturn’s version of 3D blast & Sonic 3

@@mikeyarts5342 No it wasn’t hard, the amount of cheap deaths I had & Sonic’s inertia threw me off. I’ll admit I’m biased & like Mania more, but the amount of time it takes Sonic to gain speed from a standstill is so peculiar to me

Oh yeah and I played through mania with the good ending in both normal and encore mode so I think I should be fine

I might try again since it’s been a few years but I used to be good at the normal stages & then sucked a ton in encore mode. Also I only finished superstars with sonic. I didn’t really play much as any other characters unless they had their own mandatory stages lol
