Many are upset about the modernization of this house. But while I wouldn’t go for the current style, think about this: This house has been likely been renovated multiple times in its history, probably each time to whatever was the popular style of the time. I think of this a “living” home more than a museum and am happy to see it is still being properly used. ❤
But it doesn’t feel like a comfortable family home to me. Where is the warmth? The beauty about old cottages, and I’ve just spent 2days with my family in one which was an Airbnb that was a little worn at the edges, is that all of us felt it looked lived in and the kids loved it. It was very creatively furnished by the occupants not bought in.
Thank you for your comment - we love this property, it is the perfect example of a traditional English cottage modernised for the 21st Century. Marry Christmas to you and yours too!
I absolutely love this place, i only live down the road , its light pretty ,and plenty of room., if you want a dark dingy place you'd better look elsewhere.😊😊😊😊
Magnifique et tres bien décoré. Je ne comprends pas tous ces commentaires désobligeants. C est souhaitable de moderniser les batises anciennes pour les rendre confortables et les conserver. Superbe.
An exquisite property, tastefully renovated to modern tastes within Listed Buildings consents located in an idyllic village.. A tad too large for what where're looking for, sadly. Very amused by some of the comments here - if you don't like the Farrow & Ball 'white' then you only need to repaint - your'e buying the land and the property - not the interior design! Why do people always feel they have to criticise others' tastes? If you can't be nice, don't comment. I feel sorry for the present owners who have clearly put their heart and souls into this renovation and I'm sure they'll be selling to someone with more taste than some who have commented below!
Regardless of personal preferences for 'too modern' or wishes it were more quaintly old-fashioned, most of what they have done is gorgeous, and totally livable. I prefer not to use white everywhere simply because white does not keep it's purity over the years - I prefer cream shades myself for a longer living paint job. But this house is simply beautiful in every way and actually the price surprised me - I thought 1.1 million not 900,000 - the only thing I did not like was the neighbors being rather closer than I would prefer (you can see the house next door in one shot) & that would probably stop me buying this house if I were actually in the market for such a home - a house like this should have greenery all around it IMO ! I also did not much like the (chicken?) wire that is installed over the thatch - is it all over the roof ? - very practical but doesn't look very authentic.
SUCH BEAUTY , WOULD OVERCOME ANY OBJECTIONS I HAD. REMEMBER, IT HASN'T BEEN JUST A HOUSE, FOR ALL THOSE YEARS, IT SERVED SEVERAL PURPOSES FOR LOCAL LIFE, AND IT STILL HAS A FAIR AMOUNT OF PRIVATE LAND AROUND IT.
I know it’s punching down but , you’ve gotta love estate agents , she states she loves the “colour” scheme , really , need to change the filter on this iPad
I really love this house !! Looks so English and rural and cozy...I really feel its warm from my screen..! ...But there is a main road right under windows, right from this sign Last Straw...Don´t know how much is busy, but quiet is something else..
Beautiful exterior but inside came as a shock. Far too over modernised, but that's simply personal taste.. I am happy we are returning to more colour & a traditional cosy feel.
Completely agree , all it’s heart has been ripped out in the chase of modernity, like having a classic e-type and converting it to an ev-type , it’s sacrilege
Why do people follow fashion ? I see something I like and just go with it. This renovation would do better by putting some old feature’s back in.. old barns renovated are lovely but not our British cottages
Terrible. It's been over renovated. Apart from the beams & inglenook fireplace, there is no character left inside. And as for the spotlights, well just cheapens the whole house! Ps someone with plenty of money but sadly lacking in taste.
I live in a cottage like this although not as large. We have retained as much as possible but a lot of original features were missing when we moved in. We have some spot lights as these cottages can be very dark. We also have mainly white walls but lots of colour in country flower prints and lampshades, cushions etc. This cottage is quite quirky and practical with comfort and light.
I agree with you. I love Margaret Rutherford cottage in the miss Marple films! All squishy sofas and candle sticks And creaky floor boards. This is such a disappointment. Every bit of character stripped away Of its imperfections that make it perfect!
No matter the house, this modern/contemporary style is over used everywhere! I really dislike it. It’s cold and Uninviting. I love the plump pillowed sofas, upholstered fabric club chairs, luscious rugs throughout, soft lights from porcelain lamps, beautiful, long full drapes, warm wood tables, 18th century paintings in gold guilted frames, ottomans, bookcases full of books and beautiful decor. I wish interior designers would go back to the cozy inviting decor.
Somehow this cottage has lost much of its warmth, charm and character. Kitchen looks so wrong and the staircase looks new. Where are the original features? It looks like a reproduction. It’s such a shame.
“Cottage”? It’s got five bedrooms, for crying out loud, it looks like two houses knocked into one (or the pub it used to be.) Merely having a thatched roof does not a “cottage” make - this is verging on a mansion by comparison.
That's a grade 2 listed building and would come under listed building control . so the windows should be of a style sympathetic with the building ,which they are not . In fourty odd years of making windows for period properties rarely have I seen anything as tawdry as those , If it wasn't for the paint protruding way over the sight line of the glazing bars they would look like UPVC. Whoever buys this house.....Rip them out and start again , Less chunky casements ,Slimlite double glazing and one black monkey tail fastener and casement stay on each opening light. It would transform that rather nice cottage. Oh and lose the white gloss paint ,there are plenty of old shades of white available. @@AnnabelHamilton-z7q

This home is absolutely stunning. I would live there happily with no complaints.
This is simply stunning , such a lot of history. It’s horses for courses in choice and would love to live there .
I think this house is beautiful. I wouldn't change anything in it... Love it! ❤❤❤
Stunning! The house is nice too.
That is one of the best so far and the bar is set high. Thanks Holly, Merry Christmas.
Thank you for your comment - we love this property, it is the perfect example of a traditional English cottage modernised for the 21st Century. Marry Christmas to you and yours too!
People have this bad habit of over modernizing the interior of old cottages. I love the Miss Marple cottage look!
Got to love a big floating kitchen island ❤ fabulous oak floors too!!
We love the versatility of the bespoke kitchen - great for Christmas with a large family we think!
FIRST ONE I'VE EVER HEARD OF.
The kitchen is amazing.

Who doesn’t like a bit of holly this time of the year,,🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅👍🥰

I'LL TAKE IT.
If I could, I would buy it for the thatched roof alone.
Isn't it wonderful Carol - picture perfect!
If I could , I would buy it and make it look less like a modern surgical theatre

Lovely outside. Not a fan of downlights

7:21 there's a lot of build-in storage in this room, she says, while opening two faux wardrobe doors....
If that's an old house, it's a shame that someone ruined it.
The pop lights are awful,
I agree
Looks like you have vermin damage at the top of the valley.
Too modern for me. People who want this look should by a modern home. If I bought it, I would have to gut it.
Completely agree , all it’s heart has been ripped out in the chase of modernity, like having a classic e-type and converting it to an ev-type , it’s sacrilege
Nice house, but very BORING!! For a house 200 years old where is all the character??
Awful, I am just waiting on the live, laugh, love sign appearing. The heart and soul has been ripped out and replaced with marble and MDF.
Totally agree , like I’ve said time and again , don’t dress Elizabeth 1st in Katy Perry’s’ clothes , it just don’t work people !!!

Exactly terrible
Ruined the inside

No natural wood ,everything painted white ,Sorry not a good example..Try cotswolds.😢

I was disappointed. Too modern. 😢
Sterile, no genuine "traditional cottage charm" - also, too big to be called a cottage!!!
Didn’t see the heart of the home…. The kitchen. Why not? Just a dining room. Sorry, but a tour always includes a kitchen.
Thank you for your comment, Holly shos us the bespoke kitchen at 1:58. We love the mobile central island.
The windows in that house are bloody horrible
Governed by planning restrictions

Looks like a shopping mall
As soon as I saw the ‘hilarious and oh-so clever name’ I knew it would be awful.
Same name for over 30 years !
Snob , no cottage whatsoever ? What bull .
