It's basically Krishna apologizing to Karna , after defeating him in the battle, in order to stand by the greater good..but Karna by himself is a great soldier, archer and one of the best warriors in Mahabharatha, but he took the wrong side and ultimately that led to his demise. All of this is condensed beautifully in the song within a few verses.

Every body said its impossible.When MSV came he found everyone on the set in a tensed mood.When the set people told MSV tge reason...he said Dont worry ,call Kannadasan, we both can do it.Everone was apprehansive .When Kannadasan came ,MSV told Kannadasan about this .Both went about the job.Kannadasan created the lyrics and MSV composed it .All theis was done in an hour .It was filmed ,where paer of Geethopadesam is shown. Every time I hear this song, a drop of tear flows down involuntarily. Such beautiful lyrics. Highly Situational - based on Mahabharata war. Where Karna is in the battlefield after arrows have hit his chest. Lord Krishna appears there to take his life as he is not dying (owing to his good deeds). The lyrics is all about the glory of Krishna and the good nature of Karna. And blames Lord Krishna for conspiring to kill Karna, but also states Lord Krishna is the incarnation of the eternal God and he will grant him salvation.
