For those curious the maximum amount of items which can be held in small backpack is 64×16^5 which is equal to 67,108,864. And in the large backpack it is 64×16^7 which is equal to a whopping 17,179,869,184. Edit: This means the hole 120 slot backpack can hold up to 2,061,584,302,080 items (Thanks @Zigit poon)
Also worth noting, the slot memory settings interact with the "match contents" option on the pickup upgrade even if you don't actually have anything in the pouch/backpack yet. Very useful for raiding vaults! And early on, if you can't spare the materials for a second pouch for overworld use, you can save your vault-raiding slot memory, clear it out to use the pouch for overworld activities, and then load your slot memory back up before your next vault run.

If the stack upgrades are multiplicative, 7 stack upgrades (T4) on the same big backpack(17,179,869,184 items per slot) allows hundreds of drawers worth of items to be compressed into 2-5 backpacks, to store enough items for the Vaulter as well as modded stuff oitside of gear! Now that's a testament to the world record for the smallest Modded storage system.
ive been trying to decide which of the bigger mods to buy into, it would be cool if you could do a walk though on what they can actually provide advantage on early game and or like the ability spotlight stream decide which of the big mods are better early game then late game. I know botania has been nerfed however there are still many useful thing you can do. or that creates very expensive to get into but also is useful for some automation. but a break down of what raw vault materials needed to get started in each big mod would be awesome!!

So...what you are telling is putting 7 tier 4 stack upgrades on a big backpack allows evry single slot to hoard 268 million times (17 billion 179 million) of the same item, so one big backpack acts as multiple drawers in the same block space, and then I can just filter items from it to the vaulter, or click with another restock upgraded backpack/pouch/belt to refill my stuff for a vault run in a single click?
Hi Hellfire, How do they work when you have multiple? if you are wearing as a backpack and you have one in your inventory? can they pickup each other? What is the input priority for them?
They can't go into each other. I'm not 100% sure but it seems to be that the pickup priority is always with the last one you opened. You can also keybind "open backpack" and it seems to follow the same priority
IIRC the order should be: pouch on your back > pouch on hotbar > pouch in the inventory (multiple in the inventory? Probably the same way as using different arrows, from top left to bottom right)
I actually have that video half recorded but currently Ispawners is completely broken and doesn't spawn anything so I can't finish the video until it gets patched unfortunately 😭
Can you pls make a guide on how to loot a vault? What should i focus on, should i only look for gilded/living/ornated chests.Or just the chests with the stuff i need rn, should i loot wooden chests, or should i focus on the objective?

I just made a void bag for some of the common junk items and it's got the pickup upgrade and void upgrade, set to match backpack contents, but for some reason I can't get it to pick up any items. I know Iskall mentioned something about slot priority, but I'm fairly sure I've got things in the correct locations.

The only way I can think would be to overwrite the memory with a new one without that item in it. I don't think theres a way to modify the memory by 1 item without loading it all in but I could be wrong

geez that might be enough to find a biome other then the ocean biome i spawned in for my skyvault

one thing to note, the pickup upgrade also works when you place the backpack on the ground, kind of like a ender hopper

Pickup priority (which slot gets the chance to pickup first): Back slot > Off-hand > Hotbar (L-R) > Inventory

You can but you can get auto breeders, traders, iron farms etc which are quite useful ☺️

Okay so the slot priority goes worn, toolbelt then inventory spaces, so you should be able to arrange it like that and fix the issues

Yes you can, the magnet and belt don't need to be in the slot to work, they can just be in your inventory 😀

u can just drop them (esp if u have magnets)

You can break them or in the inventory instead of shift clicking you can shift and Q and it will quick drop the items from the chest

The mod is originally called Sophisticated Backpacks. Vault hunters uses a specialized version of it that removes few features
