Train Goes Into Building To Get Boxcars! Working A Short Line Railroad Industrial Spur! Pennsy RR

- 2 Trains work the industrial track at the same time. These trains are in Columbus, Indiana on short line railroad Louisville & Indiana Railroad. First we see a maintenance of way work train enter the branch line spur with clean yellow ballast cars. Then a local switcher goes up the industrial spur to set off 2 cars for a scrap dealer and back the locomotive into a building to pick up 2 boxcars. The video starts with me on my bicycle trying to get to a good spot to film while the train was coming. I had my scanner on 160.725 and I was heading for the huge trestle until I realized that they were lining the switch for the nearly 3 mile spur. I put my bike in the truck and headed to the end of the spur to film the action. It was difficult to film due to traffic and light. There was just enough light to film them switching the last customer but when they returned to the main line it was completely dark. This video shows them enter the main and reline the switch for the main. The switch was lined for the spur the entire time that the local was on it since there were no other trains approaching. The next train on the main was an L&I northbound road freight that passed Columbus at 8:01pm. That same train went through here south at 9:51pm with the 2 boxcars from the spur on the very end of their train. No other trains went through Columbus until 5:55am when a CSX southbound freight passed. I got a room at the Indigo Motel on the top floor facing the railroad, room 402. I will be putting together a video showing the view from the room and more trains in Columbus. I filmed this on October 22, 2020. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

What a machine. You can hear the quiet power. While they purr, they roar quietly.
That L&I train looks awesome at night w the light reflecting off of it. The industrial area was definitely a cool place to catch it especially when it picked up the 2 boxcars at the end of the line.
Love seeing that LEF&C boxcar! That railroad has been gone for more than 20 years!
Jaw Tooth, I love your train videos. I love short line trains and you provide the rail fans the experience of that. Thank you sir !!
Thanks Chris! I appreciate that
Very cool to be able to see this. Dedicated rail fans like you, Jaw Tooth, that catch actual train work is a God send for those of us who generally can’t see things like this. Thanks so much!
Worth the wait for sure!! Those are good looking loco's. Nice close up action again Mr. Jaw Tooth. You've been having some great luck getting into position lately and that is cool! Thanks.
Tuscan Red with Gold stripes and the Red Keystone! Great to see that.
These locomotives look and sound brilliant, great to see all this work getting done on this railroad, it's good to see it so busy. Thank you for bringing us this fantastic video Jawtooth.
Yeah, I was thinking those locomotives look too nice for a Class 3.
Columbus Indiana my hometown. I can tell you exactly who that you customers are. So amazing thank you John tooth thank you thank you thank you!
Very cool hearing the scanner. Ive never heard of Louisville and Indiana. Now the old L&N is what runs in my yard, I used to see old L&N trains but no more
THANK YOU JAW TOOTH! What a SWEET treat!!! Quite the surprise to me when I saw an old Lake Erie, Franklin, and Clarion boxcar on this video! Really enjoy the results of your efforts, for a multitude of reasons. - Sincerely, Your Western Pennsylvania neighbor, Trainman2k
11:00 Do they drive train engines inside customer buildings? YES !!! Another Nice find JawTooth !
AWESOME CATCH THANKS JT I APPRECIATE IT AND YOU BE SAFE AND CAREFUL ✌️😇👌🙏🙏🙏👍😁
6:33 That's a nice paint job on that Louisville and Indiana railway.
Now that is funny, watching the conductor sit on the last car enjoying the ride!
You are awesome, to show us these great videos! Please stay safe, and God bless!
Awesome video Jawtooth! I love watching trains on that line in Seymour Indiana!
Another great discovery by our Intrepid Explorer, finding another previously nearly anonymous short line. How does he do it? Persistence, Son, persistence. And an excellent nose for railfanning. Other railfans would have thought it enough just to show the locomotive. Not Jaw Tooth. He gives us the story behind the pictures. That’s why he’s the best. No contest.
I love this location. Especially at twilight! Thank you sir.
Glad you enjoyed it
I haven't heard a hot box detector like that for a while. Fascinating piece of technology, really.
We used to listen in when chasing trains in Three Bridges, NJ., on the scanner. "Three hundred, twelve axles, no defects..."
How in the world they detect a problem on a particular axle on a freight going 60mph just floors me. But then again, maybe I'm just easily amused/perplexed....lol
😎🇺🇸
Some detectors give the train speed, temperature , direction of train etc
Another great video Jawtooth. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for being here so fast!
Hello again from the UK. Really interesting video. Just when I have got used to seeing US trains street running we move on to the next level and see a train going into a building. A lot of US specific terminology here too, for example switching and switches. In the UK we call them 'points'. Watching the work at the end of the line is far more interesting than just watching the trains running along a main line.
Now those are some smart looking locos. CCET has the most clapped out looking locos in the RR industry. If they ever do a remake of The Fugitive, CCET"s rolling stock would be perfect.
There is a really cool building in Mobile, AL called the Author Outlaw Building in which a train goes through the building. It's quite cool in my opinion. Plus you can stand on the steps n look down at the train going by. It's so cool.
Thats the convention center right? My brother in law told me about that. He was there a couple years ago. I would love to go there
ruclips.net/channel/UC8XCmWXE2J5dF7wXkzUVHtw. @Jaw Tooth check this guy out.
@@JawTooth yes sir it is. I love it been there a few times n got to see trains go through it. Stood so close to a passing train that I could reach out n touch it or one time got to stand on the stairs n look down into the multiple coal cars. Was soooo cool!
😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@JawTooth We need you to go there!
It appears that somebody likes the Pennsylvania Railroad quite a lot !!
Picking up the the box cars was cool!
Boy they have some nice clean equipment!
Chessie too seems a nice friend, surely worth to cherish.
I just wonder if he knows he named his dog after a cat
@@remylopez4821 Anyhow, Chessie is kind for both cats and dogs.
Looks like the conductor put that phone away real quick when he saw JT filming!
Why would you say that? Wrong person sees this comment could cause trouble for the guy. Besides I didn't see anything of the sort
2:41
Great video
A blast from the past
Glad you enjoyed it
@@JawTooth Thank you
Awesome bud. That railroad seems to keep their equipment in top notch condition.
Yes they do
Excellent footage. Great location. Hope to see it again one day
I really like the PRR throwback livery they have.
The Yellow Rock cars are Off the Charts, Bright. Now we know what “Short” Line stands for.😬👍
Man you sure can't miss those yellow stone hoppers! You got me hooked on the railroad too...nice! 👍👍
Clean looking engines!
L&I runs the old drop bridge in Louisville..they got some sharp equipment
Good looking engines in nice evening light: that is indeed pretty cool.
That was actually really awesome to see the switching done at night there.
EXCELLANT ENGINES JT .. good job
Great video Jawtooth! I love the paint scheme on those engines! Thanks for sharing!
Another visually appealing Jaw Tooth production; a JT masterpiece! L&I keeps their engines running real smooth and the color scheme is dazzling. it's beyond cool...it's cold.
Looks like that track is maintained well.
Good work. Love the Pennsy style colour scheme.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow! Awesome paint job on those locos!!
They are!
Love those switching videos ! Great job J.T. Looking for the one shot from your motel window.
those are quite the cars, never seen of those before
Awesome video. Great track for a spur. Industry must be important
Thanks Scott! They have 3 customers on the spur and they load gravel into those yellow cars
Cool Louisville and Indiana locomotives Jaw Tooth! I liked them yellow gravel cars to. Another very interesting video Jaw Tooth! You are really terrific at making these cool train videos! 4 sure!
Now those are some nice looking professional company appearing trains, pay attention CCET.
I agree, they are nice looking Trains
I was thinking that, too. It makes a difference.
I almost forgot that they had the old PRR livery.
Great photography!
Beautiful locos!! Looked they are brand new. Cool👌👌👍
Thank you very much!
Good catch. Thankyou for this video. Made my night 👊👊👍👍
Good video! Love Chessie, especially the puppy picture. I find it interesting and fun, watching the short lines switch customers.
Louisville and Indiana is a great train company always doing their job transporting cargo to their destinations I got to hand it to them they're okay
Hammer those pedals Jaw Tooth, you’re finding great places and making superb videos, day and night. These short lines are fascinating. Almost none of them left in Little England make yours extra special.
nice catch
Thanks for being the first commenter!
@@JawTooth pleasure my friend, those trains are very awesome and those spots too. So continue to be a good railfan, to do awesome catches. See you soon.
Great Video Thanks Jawtooth
beast mode love you papa jer toof
A true rail fanner, JT will do what it takes to get the shot, and that includes riding a bicycle or camping out for a weekend. Nice little town of some 48,000 folks, especially showcased when you almost ran those two girls down on the bicycle/walking path. Just kidding.
Great video
This is the reminder of a once great rail road the PRR same colors and insignia yet another name, Sigh* They are at least maintaining their locos and track very well
We get to see Chessie as a lil pup. Ok. That just made my day. Thanks!
Hiya jawtooth gr8 video mate, godbless
Excellent as always!!
Have a great week!!
Great video Jawtooth, love those shining engines!!
Great videos of the Louisville & Indiana!
Heh. Looks like Ghost @12:50 strutting along!
Great video, JT!!
Hey Jawtooth, that spur once went all the way to Madison Indiana. If you look on Google earth you'll see it ends on the south end of Columbus today, but the remnant right of way is visible down to North Vernon. There is still an abandoned cantilever bridge at the end of this spur, but no tracks on it. LIRC did build an additional siding going up to that bridge for storage I assume.
That job on that side of town is busy everyday as they serve the metal yard, cardboard factory, and the plastic furniture company.
Man! Mr. Tooth was movin at the start! Great shots of the train, too. I love the paint schemes.
I like how much detail you have in your videos so i can figure out what they are doing.
Glad you like them!
Cool as always there, son!
That's the way a locomotive is supposed to look!
Nice clean lookin locomotives on this railroad and that sd 40-2 looks like as well
Great video JT!🇺🇸
Another awesome live action video jawtooth

Nice catch of a different railroad. Gotta love it.
I have some other ones to post of areas that I have never posted
Good made nice video, mr Jaw Tooth.
The last locomotive (3001) from Louisville & Indiana is awesome with the American flag.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Yeah, you got lucky, son. Here's you thumbs up.
Nice shots. Keep up the good bike work but be safe.
Love the locos. Looks like they were restored? Great color scheme!
The conductor chilling out on the end of the last yellow gravel hopper car.
I like the videography between 13:40 and 14:40. There are good stills in there.
I rarely do night video but maybe I should do a few more
This is what railroads should do, service their customers. Happy customers lead to nice profits. Making the low operating ratio leads to fat managment bonuses and investor happiness and unhappy customers. That will lead to the "disappearing railroad blues".
Couldn't agree more. Have you seen any of my videos? I show how rail cars are delivered to customers. And the tasks that go along with it. Check it out.
Awesome video!!!
Awesome video! Good work buddy!
Jaw tooth I wish I could meet you we got lots of trains here in Missouri your my favorite RUclips channel I can't stop watching your videos bud keep up the good work 🙂👍🤟❤
Maybe one day! Its been a while since I was in Missouri. I drove all the way across the state one time
That's a nice red Corvette Stingray you're driving, JT!
He knows more than one way to find his Choo Choo
