Why Mischa Barton REALLY Left "The O.C." | E! News
/ enews
It always seemed odd that she spoiled her death before the episode aired, she seemed really hurt that it was over......and for anyone who didn’t watch the show, she was the center of the show and it just didn’t work without her, the last episode I ever saw was season 4 episode 1, they didn’t have a 5th season
I so agree with you!! I also stopped watching the show after the end of season 3.
I think she was bound to die at some point, Marissa kept making so many mistakes, hanging out and getting involved with sketchy people and putting herself in danger. She's been doing that since season 1. I honestly didn't like her much since the pilot episode. I felt like Summer, Anna, Alex, Kaitlin and even Jess were way better as young characters. Marissa made me mad most of the time. Towards the end she started making some sense especially scenes with her sister, it's a shame that when she became less annoying is when they kill her off the show.
I totally agree
She kept making mistakes because of the amount of conflict that was surrounding her character and the writers never gave her any development after said experiences. They never really written her character well at all. Apart from Season 1 because there's almost no development needed.
Too many actors make the mistake of leaving the best show of their career.
And that’s what ruins every tv show
I always wanted them to do a season 5 and have her wake from a coma, i was shocked when she left, if Anniston tried to leave friends, theyda stopped her, nobody but the true fans knew this show needed Marrisa
True. Ryan and marissa was way better then Ryan and Lindsey or Taylor in season 4.
now i guess she's not gonna be on the podcast...
i was just thinking the same
Melinda keeps saying that she would like for every face from the OC to appear at least once, so it'll be interesting then if/how they will explain her not appearing...
She gave a lot of words and said nothing🤦🏾♀️
Because they dont be allowed to speak... It's the Industry!
She did narrow it down to the men bullying her among other things. So, I disagree. But yea, she was intentionally vague.
Thank you Misha for being the outspoken person you are right now. You are strong and an incredible inspiration. You are showing us how to heal ourselves. Keep going -- you are amazing!!!
the character wasn't you so it was hard to act? why are you an actor? ain't acting pretending to be someone you aren't?
Maybe but she was the youngest member, being only 16 I believe. And she had some really heavy dramatic storylines. It can take a toll on you mentally if you don’t know how to really separate yourself from your character
Say that again
@@anhphi100 She wasn't the only youngest cast
@@fredwaywalls4686 she was 17 making out with a 24 year old of course she was uncomfortable
@@fredwaywalls4686 huh? What does that have to do with anything? "Say that again" LOL yikes
She needs to grow up and learn to take responsibility for her own life. I do feel bad for her being such a young person in the industry and I know there were family issues... but she’s in her 30’s now and still completely unable to realise how much her own actions effect her life
Would love to hear her take on what it was.
That was a lot of nothing. She had a hard time being a young actress, nothing wrong with that but did she have issues on the set because other people were being bullies or because she was young and didn't understand what was being conveyed to her? If there was inappropriate behavior on the set what happened?
Drugs
yep
Personally, i found her character Marissa quite annoying back then watching it as a teenager, and wasn't really surprised when she died in the final episode of season 3, although I thought the manner 9f her death was quite cheesey, lol.
She started of as a bad girl, then evolved too dark, too fast, putting out some sort of party freak - lesbian - suicidal - condescending - emo chic vibes. Her character ultimately became just too damn depressing and annoying to like. I always thought Ryan could do better than being with such an unstable Marissa anyways.
I however rewatched the show with fresh eyes this year as an adult , and well, suffice to say I was alot more sympathetic to her tantrums and annoying nuances due to the depressing experiences her character had to undergo, from having a criminal for a father, to having a mum who sleeps with her boyfriend and sends off her kid sister away to Boarding School, leaving her completely alone in navigating a divorce amidst a huge change in social standings, from living in a mansion to living in a trailer , also dealing with having her boyfriend (Ryan) impregnating his childhood sweetheart, and then also having to forcefully escape a rape attempt from her own boyfriend's brother (Trey), and then had deal with shooting Tray in the back in other to save her boyfriend's life, which ultimately gets her expelled from her school {the only last shred of normalcy in her utterly depressing life and existence 😱}.
I so much preferred Taylor Townsend as Ryan's girlfriend, even though the script writers sort of botched her character in making her too much of a desperately clingy stocker 🙄. Oh well.
idk, it’s hard for me to believe her because of how every other cast and crew member talk about the oc being such a positive experience for everyone. i think she struggled with fame and other personal issues at such a young age, and maybe didn’t feel like she had the proper support system for that in the show, but that’s not their fault
Peter said he was keeping an eye on her... it might not have been enough, but yeah, as you say, she was not their responsibility...
No girl ... Your ego got greater than your talent ...Big mistake to leave ...
You don't even know her
You don’t know what she went through or what even happened so I don’t get why you feel the need to tell her what to do
She was hanging out with a crazy crowd back then, her behaviour was out of control. Have a look at some of her interviews from back then, she was high as a kite.
but like... her death was one of the greatest tv moments ever though so im kind of thankful she left haha. i remember being so shocked when it aired on tv
Mischa was a party girl. Mischa wanted out of her contract, so she could pursue other opportunities.
She got a Big Head and thought she could leave the show and become a Movie Star.
Her whole career flopped straight after and she hardly has worked since The O.C.!
Warner has always been behind stuff like this.
She did take drug😌.
VAGUE REASONING. BE SPECIFIC.
17 years from now, Mischa will explain why she left 'The Hills: New Beginnings'.
Assuming Mischa herself is amongst us 17 years on ⏳🤔⌛
She did not left “The Hills: New Beginnings” she was fired.
😂😂
@@andiszerintavilag187 why. Was she fired ?
@@bonnierich8236 because she was less drama queen then Montag and was not enough drama around Mischa.
This foreign born former A- list mostly television actress who got her younger sibling hooked on drugs seems to be misremembering the past. She left a hit show because she thought she was going to be a huge star. Plus, if anyone was doing bullying, it was her.
Mischa Barton/The O.C.
i used to think that she should be cut some slack, being called a bit of a diva on the set etc, given the fact that she was 16 when it started and it's not easy to work that hard at that age... but then look at the cast of stranger things for example, they are kids and you don't see them complaining?
and lol, what even an argument is it that the character wasn't her? mostly actors say they enjoy playing characters that are their opposites, because it's a challenge and more fun...
true. but remember. stranger things airs 8 episodes. back then seasons were like 22 to 27 episodes. it was more than 9 months out the year working 12 plus hour days. watch the oc podcast they mentioned how long the hours were.
I agree with you but I think it just depends on the decade. Being a celebrity in the 2000s was extremely awful. Paparazzi culture was at its height during this time. Britney Spears for example was relentlessly psychologically tortured by the media. One time she was using the restroom and the paparazzi snuck in and took a ton of pictures of her on the toilet. Plus body shaming and straight up bullying people was very common by gossip blogs and magazines like perez hilton. They didn’t care if you were a minor and they’d sexualize the hell out of you, like Emma Watson.
Times have definitely changed and for the better. We now see celebrities as humans, just like us. Paparazzi culture is pretty much dead especially due social media and young celebrities aren’t as sexualized by the media. And when they are it’s largely condemned
first
Mmmmmm an actor would love to play a character way different from their real personality and would be a true challenge in their career I dint get the part that she says it was difficult to play cuz she was different so... yo are not a real actor....
Nonsense. I don't believe her.
What else is new
I believe her she was 17 and the things that they make her do and say if it was now people would called out the writing
Who cares if you believe her or not.
Sparkling daisy...i care. Because i agree. You also seem to care otherwise you would have scrolled on by.
@@Hellstothenaw what a dummy logic
She is trying to exploit the trend. She left because she thought she gotten bigger than the show and her career would make her a movie star. She was so right that she ended up on the fake Hills last year. But I'm sure she will blame others for that and not take accountability.
Errr and you left OC ,, because???? Still
None the wiser , 2nd thoughts who cares anyway
you care obviously
