I keep yellow bellied sliders and love giving them minnows! Right now I have about a dozen minnows in my tank and am thinking about grabbing my 10 gallon tank from my husband's grandma's house and keeping some of the minnows as pets. They're actually kind of cute.
My turtles started living with fishes ! They don’t attack them ! 😁
thats why i have a 3 years old common goldfish
My turtles lived with fish for a while but then they randomly started to eat them.

I'm brand new to the channel as of last night dude! I love your energy. 100% I'm gonna do an egg crate topper for my turtle's tank. I would suggest, when you go back to university, you could maybe put some EVA foam floor mats under Sheldon's pond to insulate it slightly from the cold ground... Assuming the pond is still an appropriate size for him.
When my turtle was a hatchling, I found that putting minnows in the tank was fun to watch, but they get a lot of success with ghost / feeder shrimp.
Dude feeds his turtles better than he feeds himself. I can respect that

So I've been recently obsessed with fish, I have zebra danios and a beta and I've always wanted a turtle! I'm going back to college soon and they don't allow pets😭 but as soon as I'm able, I'm getting a turtle because you and Sheldon have inspired me!

I think it's a great idea to give turtles live food because it gets the the mental and physical activity they need.

Hi :) love your videos . So my daughters got their yellow bellied turtles and they wanted me to ask you what type of sand did you get your turtle and how old is it?? Right now we have them on really low water where they can stick out their heads. So I was also wondering how long did you added lots of water ? You should do a summer setup in your backyard for Sheldon with the blue plastic kid pool. Maybe he could go outside on sunny days. Also could you make a above tank basking area with plexiglass??? Been wanting to make one but I’ve never used plexiglass before. I have a eggcrate one now like yours, used your tutorial to make it.
i definitely am going to make some outdoor setups for sheldon. & yeah i’ve been thinking about other DIY basking areas i could do, it seems like a lot of people are in need of ideas for that

You should get a 20 gallon water box and do a beginner saltwater aquarium. Or something along those lines
been researching saltwater for the past couple weeks, but it will be at least a month or two before i get one. wanna make sure i know everything i need to know first
Laughing so hard watching Sheldon go fishin’! I promised Angus Young, my 1ish y/o red-eared slider, that I’m gonna let him have the same kinda fun soon with rosy red minnows. He’s a pool skimmer basket rescue turned pet. Spoiled already. Hand feeding him like you do Sheldon! But I think he’s getting bored hence the minnows
Carson I have a question. So my red eared slider is over 9 months old now, and he cannot get onto his baling rock anymore sadly. Do you have any good ideas for a basking area in a 40 gallon aquarium that I wouldn’t need to leave my house for(bcuz of corona)

Hello! I know this is one of your older videos, but we just recentlg bought our eastern painted turtle, and began watching your videos for advice! We have the tank all set up, but we had put some minnows in with our hatchling and we're told to take them out immediately because of the ammonia level. How have your turtles done with minnows? Also, we are finding that we're having a hard time feeding our little one the hatchling pellets. He doesn't seem to want then at all! After 3 days of not eating at all, we finally got him to eat some lettuce. He has been enjoying red leaf lettuce for the last 2 days and we've fed him a couple of very small crickets... any advice?

I did these with my turtles before and he got super mad because he couldn’t get them for the longest time but eventually he did. 😂 Turns out they had w o r ms. And after he ate the fish I worm came out of him and we had to pull it out 🥺

Minnows are fine on normal tropical fish flakes like people get for goldfish. I feed that to mine and they're over a year and a half old.

I just recently did the same thing. My musk turtle (same size as yours) ate all 6 in 2 days. Im curious if they could potentially over eat. What do you think? Im a fairly new turtle owner
Christian Witte turtle will eat until they hurt their stomach, but most of the time, they know when they are full, so they’ll stop chasing the fish when they know that they don’t need the food, but if it’s pellets, and the pellets don’t exactly swim away, they will definitely overeat.
