Thanks for your wonderful good samaritan efforts in cleaning out the cabin. We used to go hiking and would come across some of these remote cabins in the wild, it is great to know samaritans are out there, keepingvthem clean.
A word of advice - if you plan to continue cleaning out cabins, get yourself a n95 fitted respirator. Maybe your local health unit can help. Hantavirus is no joke, and cloth masks don't do as well a job in protecting your lungs that a respirator will.
    Take care and many thanks!

I often think how much he would have enjoyed your channel. When he was young he’d go out with friends and their idea of a good time was to hike for a few hours, catch fish, build a fire, build a lean-to, cook what they caught and sleep out under the stars. He was born and grew up in the Slocan valley, became a Highways engineer, and lived the last 40 years of his life in Nelson, so the mountains of southeastern BC was all his familiar territory.

I'm so glad you were careful by doubling up on the masks. My husband almost died from hantavirus after cleaning up mouse droppings. I woke up to hearing his labored breathing and then it stopped. I tried to wake him to no avail. Our adult son was visiting and I started screaming for him. It was about 3am. He came running in and was able to get my husband, his dad, to breathe again. It was so scary. My husband did not want to go to the hospital, so I spent the rest of the night watching him sleep and making sure that he kept breathing. It took a long time for him to recover, but he is well and strong now at 60 years of age. That happened about five years ago.

You are so BRAVE! You are also kind to others, for cleaning up the cabin. The best way to remove mouse poop is with rags soaked in bleach. Nice of those people to truck out some of the trash. I know how much you love Rocko but if you ever decided a larger long haired dog would suit you better, I would adopt Rocko from you in a heartbeat! Rocko and my 7 year old female JRT would make an excellent Team. You’re a good Man, Foresty Forest❤️

It's a shame that people leave such a beautiful cabin looking like that. It's also a delight that there are people like Foresty and those other two guys (Rocko as well) who take the initiative to better the cabin!

I think that cabin was left in great shape but it was abandoned and mice and mother nature took over.

@Becky Umphrey You're right, it looked more like lack of maintenance than intentional mess or negligence. My only complain would be the trash, you brought it there, take it with you.

AWESOME VIDEO, bit of advice to try to not let your dog get used to chewing on shoes or clothes. they will always do it if they are bored enough but atleast they wont think its okay and chew other good clothes. i had to deal with this alot growing up with my grandmother giving them ripped up clothes and then they would go for the stuff on the clothes line. thanks for the vids!

Take good care of Rocko - she's a gem. She could actually have a show of her own! Now days (at least in the US) I find many beautiful campsites trashed with all kinds of filth. I do my best to clean up - but sometimes the job is just too big. I figure that "better" is better than "the same".

Jack Russell Terriers are the strongest and smartest dogs on planet Earth. A lot of strength and tenacity comes in that small package. My 7 year old JRT would defend me to the death. She once freed an extra large black bear that had climbed over our fence and entered HER yard. That bear stayed up in that tree for 1 1/2 days🙂

3 minute ad? Don't mind if I do. Legit the only channel that gets me excited enough to scream about new content upon seeing thumbnails today it was "Forestry forest!" Followed by a gradually increasing in volume "yeeaaAAHHAAY"

Next to Smoky the Bear you are the best thing to happen to the great outdoors! Awesome job on that cabin… I don’t know if it’s my allergies or just the fact that you could see the dust when you were sweeping, but my eyes actually watered while watching that. ;p
Thanks for setting such a good example for other hikers

Bless you for cleaning up someone else's mess. I understand the animal poop, and the dust and spider stuff and we all know that most folk are out and out pigs. Still, you have a good heart and don't let stuff like this get you down. Great videos, keep them coming.
