  • Using the Garmin G1000 for an engine run-up checklist involves monitoring the RPMs, oil pressure, and temperature on its digital display. Pilots also check fuel levels and system functions to ensure aircraft safety and readiness before flight. The G1000 provides precise data for a throughout pre-flight check. In this video Mike and Ray explain how to properly follow and execute the engine run-up checklist prior to take off.

Hey Guys, I`m Rafael, Former Epic Flight Academy student, I was there in 2011/2012....
I Notice when you pulled power to idle on Run Up, your battery showed a little discharge... I Had it happen to me a few times, on the real airplane, is it normal? Some airplanes do, and some dont. I does it happens?! id be very happy if you could answer. thank you.

From Mike Thompson: Good observation. One of the reasons that light general aviation airplanes adopted alternators over generators is that alternators will deliver power at low RPMs... however, RPMs as low as idle RPM can be too slow even for alternators to deliver requested power. So, it is very possible to see a slight battery discharge in this condition. Also, later in the flight, going to idle power you should not see a discharge until many many minutes at idle, depending upon the electrical system load. The reason you may see it during the runup is because the battery may still be charging from the draw down it experienced when it powered the starter motor just a few minutes earlier. Seeing this during a run up just a few minutes after starting is common and nothing to be concerned about, the system is operating as it should.

Epic Flight Academy is a Part 141 flight training program. This includes your Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating (IFR), and Commercial Pilot License (CPL). These professional pilot programs are intended for students that are able to fly full-time. In other words, fly a minimum of 5 days per week, 5 hours per day with no gaps in training!
